Thanks, Lizzie. What gets me is, they are selling things, so shouldn't they be making it easy for us to spend our money? Granted, that game only cost $4.99, but still, if enough people buy it, they could be making a bundle. They download it to your computer, so they don't need a warehouse or any shipping or anything like that. I wonder how many people would have bought something at the App Store but gave up when they confronted problems.

Now that I'm signed up at the App Store, I think the next purchase will be easy, but getting signed up is certainly a big hassle. What confuses me is, I think I tried just the exact same thing that I tried before and it didn't work, but this last time, it worked. I had called the support line, and the man said someone would send me an email with specific instructions. Why couldn't he just talk me through it on the phone? Apparently, he couldn't. I never got an email. I also read the discussions, where others had problems of various sorts, but not my exact problem. I submitted my problem to that board, but it's too soon to have an answer there. And after all that, I thought I'd try it again, though usually, if something doesn't work and you do the same thing again, it still doesn't work. But this time, it did. Maybe someone fixed the glitch instead of answering me?

I think their customer service stinks, but there's no feedback section, so I guess I'll just forget my troubles and move on.

Customer service, and honesty, are long gone, Sandy. When we buy something on the Internet we're at the mercy of the goods, themselves, at the end. The sellers seem to go "What, me worry?". The same thing applies to too many b&m stores as well.

Not in every case. There's a horse supplement company I deal with named SmartPak that excels in customer service. I phone them to order something and don't have long to wait for a real person who discusses supplements with me (unless I'm in a hurry, and they have some magical way of knowing whether or not the customer wants to chat). They always have a friendly tone of voice and the shipping is prompt with lots of reminders by email telling you of the progress of your order. Their prices aren't the cheapest, but they're fairly competitive, too. I'd highly recommend this company to anyone who is fed up with the customer service at other companies.

And everyone always says how good Smokeless Image's customer service is, too. We can't forget our hosts in Voltville.

My stepson's name is Arjuna. My stepdaughter's name is Radharani. So when they call tech support, the agent will say "ah, , you are Indian. Where are you living?" To which the kids will respond Arkansas US. The rep typically stutters a bit before blurting "me, too."

We like SmartPak. In fact, they used to make an organic garlic powder intended to keep flies off your horse. We would order a gallon for ourselves :)

Today, I paid Smokeless Image my biggest compliment.

I placed a second order.

The BEST cigalikes on the planet.

There are places that do give good customer service, but the are very few and very far between. SI is one, Vizeri is another and, oddly enough, I've had reasonably good results from Amazon. As the old saying goes "your mileage may vary" but generally customer service ain't what it used to be by a long shot.

I finally got the Apps Store to work! Amazing! It took me all day to get through. And I downloaded one game so far. I like it. It's called Avoid: Sensory Overload. You fly a plane along a track, but there are little blue things that give you points you try to run over, and then the track has holes in it you avoid, plus there are blocks that are barriers you don't want to crash into. And the plane goes faster and faster as you go. I like this kind of game. It doesn't have some complicated story. It's just reflexes. I like that I can play it right away with some success, and when I get better, I can go to a higher level. Pretty soon, I'll get more games, but this one seemed most like one I'd enjoy, so I started with it. I still want to contact the makers of the old games and see if they have updated any for the new OS. Probably not. That's been my past experience.
The AppStore is a weird little thing that Apple did. Seems that even just updates have to come from there now. Freaked me out a little at first - I didn't wanna have to pay for updates, for cryin' out loud!

Tritium, I'm a little worried about your headaches. You should get yourself checked out by a doctor, somehow, just to be safe.

'moanin, Voltvillians.

We got about 8 inches of snow yesterday before it turned to rain. Mrs. Awsum walked Bo at 8PM and decided to shovel off the side porch, steps and sidewalks. I ended up out there as well, she was originally just going to do the porch and steps. Anyhow, as we shoveled it was raining and it occurred to me that it might get just a "tad" icy given how cold the ground is. When Mrs. Awsum went to take Bo out for one last pit stop at 9:30 she had to use the sliding door in the dining room to the deck, the porch, steps and sidewalks were sheets of ice.

When I took Bo out this morning I checked and had to do the same thing, sliding door and deck. There's got to be a quarter inch of ice on what we shoveled. It is supposed to get fairly warm today, 40 to 45, so maybe it'll melt. I sure hope so. I've got to get the snow blower going and clear the driveway and that's going to be wet, slushy, snow. If I had done it last night, the whole driveway would have been ice this morning.

I've used fluorescent "grow" lights quite a bit, but have really gotten away from them. The results are pretty much the same if the seedlings are just kept in a sunny spot, near a window. You can't leave grow lights on 24/7, the plants need some sleep too, LOL. Another trick is to use a low powered warmer under the pots to warm them up to, say, 70F or so. Oddly enough, "warm white" and "deluxe warm white" fluorescent lamps have almost the same spectrum as "growlux".

We just got done clearing the slush. It's 50 outside and the deck is steaming as the water evaporates from it. The snow was so wet that the snow blower couldn't "blow" it. I used the snow blower as a plow and pushed the crap instead. A little crude, but fairly effective. I keep thinking about making a three foot plow for it so it can do double duty. I may have to put that plan into action. I hope the sun and warmth do the trick or there will be a skating rink where our driveway is by tomorrow morning.
