Sorry I'm late volties, I went to bed at an unheard of early hour for me and got up before the crack of dawn, right around the time I usually fall asleep. 'Twas a big day, I went to the zoo with my son and his three boys. What a trip! There are still piles of snow everywhere but it's melting fast and furious. I do believe I saw 50 degrees on the thermometer! *happy dance* I came home to a mini creek flowing down one of my side trails and had to get the boots out and go splashing around for a bit, even though I am wiped out. All in all, I've had a great day.

Rave, you may not be celebrating your birthday, you can still have some cake, right? I wish you a happy year!

I'm picturing you in your boots playing in the puddles. So cute, Q. Well, three boys at the zoo would wear me out.

People here today were ice fishing without wearing a coat!!!

Happy birthday, Rave. Sorry I didn't get in the good wishes, but my computer crashed this morning.

Amazing, Zero. Ice fishing without a coat. Pretty soon there won't be any ice left to fish on.

Good morning, Voltites.

There are signs of spring around here. The forsythia have started to bloom. I see there are daffodils coming up. The dogs are shedding and the little horsies, too.

I ordered irrigation supplies and they came via UPS last night. I am weeding like a maniac.

I love the weather right now. Yeah, it's cold in the morning but so nice in the day time.

Hey Rave - what was your Birthday Wish - Everyone makes one for their hallmark birthdays - especially their 30th - can't say twenty something no more... ;)

My birthday wish? I only want to keep living life with the same enthusiasm. Frankly, that doesn't seem to be lacking yet and I don't expect that it will, but it doesn't hurt to put in a request that it continues.

30th? It was her 20th!

NOW it's gettin' deep in here.

Thank you, Q!! Loved the pics. :) What I loved even more was the visualization of you splashing in puddles. Methinks we have a great deal in common.

Wow! Yes. They sure do resemble each other. I think it's the hair & beard more than that their face is similar, though.

Yup. Exactly. nodding.gif

Happy birthday, Rave. Sorry I didn't get in the good wishes, but my computer crashed this morning.

 Sorry about the computer crash! Those are traumatic. Belated birthday wishes are every bit as good as those that are timely to me. Thank you. :)

Rave, you asked if there was a bad time to go fishing? Far as it goes with me it's anytime you have to cut a hole in the lake to get to the water. :D

Yeah ... I'll concede that point. I've never tried ice fishing because I think it would be rather miserable. Wet hands. Sometimes wet feet. That wouldn't be good in the winter around here.

*******

Sorry I've been absent today. Just needed a day of quietude and reflection. I went out for a short walk but my legs didn't allow me to keep that up for long. There was a great deal of log sitting involved. Still, it was wonderful because it was warm and sunny. Sandhill cranes have been migrating overhead all day and I love hearing their calls from so high above that I can't even see them. No sign of little green things poking up through the leaf litter yet. The trees are still sleeping. All in all it was a nice walk, but MAN - it's squishy out there!!

Did I kill the thread?

I'm getting ready to cut the stock to make the organizer for my coil building tray. I posted it before, but I've changed the design since then ... I think. The unit in the center with the holes is already completed and ready to be inset into the cabinet. The piece will be two tones: Black walnut and Bird's Eye Maple. The center unit with the holes is made with thick chunks of the Bird's Eye Maple, but the drawers will only have veneers on the fronts. Much more economical that way. I finally found knobs for the drawers by looking for dollhouse supplies! Dollhouse door handles will work well.

Dimensional files were a necessity to organize all of the cuts for this unit. I have separate ones for three different types of wood. Anytime you see an "X" and then a number, like "X10", that means that I have to cut 10 pieces with those dimensions.

Why do I torture myself like this? Cuz it's fun! It's supposed to rain all day, so I'll be covering myself (and probably the whole house) with sawdust.
