Uncle - are you enjoying your Florida weather? That goes for you, too, Wuzz.

Enquiring minds want to know:)

AH - The Florida weather . . . Specifically South Florida . . . Well the nights are in the 70's and during the day it has been getting as high as 86* + for the past few weeks . . . So, IMO - If this keeps up "We" will by-pass spring, although "they" say it will be cooler this coming week . . . AND - As usual there is the occasional Florida shower that passes by for a couple of minutes . . . Thankfully, no high humidity yet, so quite pleasant when out and about . . .

Deep into rewrite. Found a whole bunch of new sources. I need to take a break, however, feeling overwhelmed.

Should be almost warm enough for you to work on your antique box - that would draw your mind and open up new thoughts - at least it does for me - creative ventures are always good for the soul... ;)

It has warmed up nicely here, most of the snow is gone and the water is soaking into the ground, although it is really mushy and muddy. We were supposed to get wind and rain overnight, but we only got the wind. Spring is on it's way! The highs are mostly in the 40s for this week, which might seem cold to some of you, but we are thrilled.

My grandtwins are just about three weeks shy of two years old...that went by QUICK! I am trying to figure out what to get them for their birthday, it's hard to find something I like and want to give them and what my son and dil like and want them to have, lol.

Have a great day everyone! :)

My Bride is cooking some corned beef and cabbage just to stay traditional I guess. Best part I like is the Rubens samich next day. I bought a new spa that's supposed to be delivered Thursday. I need it NOW!

Wuzz, when I hear it's almost 90 there, I don't envy you. I start to lose my mind when it gets to 90. I could never live in Florida.

Here, though, it's about 40, which isn't too bad, but the wind is howling. I chickened out and decided not to go to the barn today. I should, but Penny will be OK if she doesn't get groomed and her feet cleaned out, and she has the weight of blanket I want on her, since nighttime temperatures are going down in the teens the next few nights.

I wish I could have gone to the barn yesterday and tutored today, but that's working life. That was an advantage when I did freelancing. I could go to the barn when it was nice and work when it wasn't.

I did all the kids' classwork for tomorrow, so I'm just hanging around not doing much today.

Actually, I got started on tax stuff. Then did laundry and washed dishes. I am going to do some mindlessly simple work on it, making one file with the pix and minimal text. Already deleted pix from another file. Getting to big to carry it back and forth.

I have been looking at the box, thinking about it. Good to know your memory works real fine.

Hi Voltnics,

Terry - I got a pair of the Duluth Trading Flex Firehose pants and I love them. They are really comfortable for doing yard jobs in. I also got an extra long T-shirt and an extra long Henley. Both on super sale since I am cheap. Thanks for your reviews on your pants:)

How is it going in your new place? Feeling warmer yet?

Awsum, how is Bo doing? Have you thawed out?

SandySu - How is Penny doing? Is she still stiff. My farrier called and will be here next Monday.

Raven - How are you feeling? Hope your MS symptoms are still improving.

How about the rest of the bunch? Is it spring yet where you live?

Celt - are you still working on Grandma's house? Zero - how is the quilting going? Are you still working on your book?

Q - How old are the twins now?

Uncle - are you enjoying your Florida weather? That goes for you, too, Wuzz.

Enquiring minds want to know:)

Glad you like them but then I knew you would. ;)

I'm doing great here thanks. I have enough firewood cut for the last lingering cold days of winter. Temps have been in the 60's and 70's and 40 - 50 at night so the furnace hasn't been coming on so often and that makes me very happy. :D

I went up to see Rave yesterday. We talked and laughed until it got nice and warm outside then went target shooting on her property. We had a blast. Then we went back to the house and talked and laughed until dinner time which she fixed crab and shrimp and a salad. She really spoils me with food. :p Then we talked and laughed until 1:30 am. This morning we talked and laugh while drinking coffee and trying to wake up. We both are hard to wake up in the morning. Then she gave me another sketchup lesson and then I had to leave. It's so peaceful and relaxing there and we have so much fun just talking and laughing. She's a hoot! Next week we are planning on going to those caves she went to last summer in the boat. I can't wait for that.

Anyway, she didn't get her recoup day yesterday or today so she probably won't be around until maybe Weds so don't worry. Her legs are still buzzing but she's getting around just fine.

I just found out that we might be able to see the aurora borealis (northern lights) farther south than usual tonight and maybe some subsequent nights. They say it might be seen as far south as Maryland in the East, but not that far south in the West. Still, if your sky is clear, look for it. I'll try to see it.

Who here has seen the northern lights? Where were you? Tell us the story.

The first time I saw them, I was a very small child. My parents had been out somewhere visiting, and on the drive home, I fell asleep in the backseat of the car. Somewhere way out in the country, pitch-dark, my parents pulled over and woke me to see them. We sat in the car for a while watching this magical light show. We lived in Philadelphia then, so it was somewhere in that vicinity.

Then, the summer of 1958, I was staying at a farm just a little south of Rochester, NY. Every morning at 4 am, I got up to help milk the cows. On this particular morning, I noticed that the walk to the barn from the house was not as dark as usual. But that might have been a full moon. I didn't think too much of it. We were milking the cows when the farmer called me to the back doorway of the barn. There were the northern lights, and it was a good show, too. The white flames leapt from the horizon up to the center of the sky. They flickered and wavered. I ran back to help with the milikng but kept checking that back door and watching the northern lights. They went on till dawn faded them out.

We are only a bit south of Rochester -- it's about 75 miles northwest -- so maybe they'll appear here if they did there and in Philadelphia. I assume those times were also times when they were more visible than usual. I'd love to see them again.

Oh Sandy, thanks for posting about this, I will be watching tonight! I've only seen them once, I'm not sure of the date, but it was years ago and sometime after 1989 when we moved into our house. I watched them from my bedroom window for a long time, until I couldn't stay awake any longer. They were mostly green and blue lights. Funny how I can't remember any details about when it was, but I will never forget how it looked, absolutely magical.

Do zombies eat, Cindycated?

Good morning, Volmaniacs,

Did the aurora borealis show up last night, SandySu and Q.

Raven rest up but we miss you.

Terry, sounds like you are getting a breather from chores.

Wuzz, I don't think anyone was mad at you about your weather. It's just hard to live in snow for very many days and their frustration was showing a bit. I'm with SandySu, I don't think Florida is for me but the extremes of my area are sometimes hard to live with.

Sounds like you have been working hard on your book, zero.

We got some stuff done this weekend. Yeah, our weekend is now Sunday, Monday, Tuesday.

My gardening buddy came over and we got the greenhouse straightened out.

Hubby helped a couple of different neighbor ladies with their lawn tractor and their real tractor, respectively. Looks like the lawn tractor needs a carburetor while the actual tractor just had to had the right combination of levers turned off to start. They were both quite happy to have the help and I got 3 doz fresh eggs. I probably need to do some baking:)

Hubby has his chainsaw obsession working over time. He cut down some stumps for a guy in the neighborhood. Some sort of willow but big stumps. He thinks the wood will burn well. On top of that he has done some repairs of chainsaws. Some trades and selling one chainsaw so he could buy another.

I got one whole zone of the watering system switched over to the nicer tubing but still have more to do on the street zone. That will all have to wait until this next weekend since I have cleaning jobs for the next three days.

Good morning, Lizzy. I see you and Hubby are busy, as usual.

No, I didn't see the aurora last night. I went out and looked, but I think we got some cloud cover. I only saw one star, which means it wasn't a very clear night. When I looked out the back, I saw a glow in the sky from the lights of Ithaca. I remember when we had a visitor from NYC, a real city boy, and he saw that glow in the sky and got all excited that he was seeing the northern lights. I had to disappoint him by telling him that it was the lights of Ithaca glowing in the sky.

We have a lot of clouds here, and seeing stuff in the sky is a rarity. Some nights, though, when it's clear, you can see thousands of stars, and that's a real treat. Those rare clear nights are not usually when there's something extraordinary happening in the sky, though. The chances are against me.

Good Morning Everyone.

There is one advantage to not seeing Spring yet - it is here for us and now I have yard work to do - mow the yard, rake the yard, fight the weeds, plant flowers and veggies, cut some trees, etc... Arrrggghhh and they say Spring is supposed to be a happy time...

Yep, we have had to hit the ground running, Semi. The weeds are getting the better of me and the housework is being put off for as long as possible so I can get the yard work done. We need to spread compost and rototill the garden next weekend. I have baby peppers and tomatoes and flowers sitting on a rack inside the house near the window. I have some raking and burring left to do. Spring is really a time for working hard:)

So far, we are having a really nice spring. The overnight temps are pretty nice and the daytime temps are 60's and 70's. Can't complain about that.

How long is your growing season. Ours is guaranteed 90 days but this year we may get 100 days. We always plant melons in the ground but I have seen on a TV show where they start pumpkins indoors and then transplant them into the field.

Definitely let the ground warm up a bit before planting melons.
