Yeah, maybe, but it's still sticky and would glue things together pretty well. It could be cut with a knife or saw to remove a door or window, but then you're stuck with the foam still stuck to the framing an jambs.

@awsum140 . . . Yep - Totally agree, however there is a type of foam call "Great Stuff" that can be used for this type of project as @Tritium mentioned . . . Matter of fact, the foam is expandable & can breath - it can even be trimmed flush using a "Hand Saw"/"Utility Knife" after it has set-up . . . BTW: It is suggested "You" only fill the area 30-50% at first and after it expands - if NEED be add some addition foam until filled . . . ;)

They have even used it on Ask This Old House too (check video below it discusses all the different Foams and usage) . . . ;)

Yea - But then again how many times are "You" really gonna be actually changing or replacing that same Door or Window . . . Just Sayin' . . .

We used spray foam before and we are worried that it may have bowed the frame. I certainly hope we never need to replace this door again. So far it has been a real process and is taking quite a bit of time and a fair amount of money.

I took a photo. I'll try to put it on the thread in a few minutes.

Looks great, Lizzie! Congrats to all the "handypersons" invoved! Good move putting the doggy door elsewhere. With the raised panels in the lower section it would be a real pain and spoil the look. I hung a similar door, steel clad but same design, when we moved in here.

You can use explosive bolts for mounting it and when you need to remove just press a button! :D

It's 2016 here so happy new year :)

Only you would think of that, Trit.

Happy New Year. Time to get ready to go to a neighbor's house, eat dinner and set off some fireworks. It is snowing lightly and the low is predicted to be 8 degrees. I'll be feeding the horses a little extra food before we go to bed tonight to keep them warm.

Happy New Year, Tritium! Does Greece celebrate New Years like we do here in the States?

I'm sitting here, semi-comatose, after a barbequed steak and barbequed shrimp dinner with baked potato and sour cream dinner followed by a home made baked apple with vanilla ice cream. Oh yeah, forgot the stir fried veggies. I hope the coffee helps me make it until midnight. Even Bo got a little steak.

Your nearest hydrogen bomb.
Well.... Yes, we do have 2016 here too :D It's the same all over Europe too i guess.
We do eat too, i don't eat so much though.

I think i fixed my neck (and headaches) temporary, i filled the bathtub only with hot water, i could literally boil an egg inside, had some bathsalts for like 5 years on the shelf, threw it in and dived to warm the backside, seems to be ok now but i may have to repeat tomorrow.

In my opinion, that's the only way to take a bath. Hot, hot water and bath salts. Works wonders on sore achy muscle and helps when you aren't feeling well either. Hope you get well soon, Trit!

Happy new year, everyone, though its not quite 2016 here yet. I'll probably be in bed by then.

Awsum, can I come to dinner at your house? You eat such good stuff!

Lizzie, your door looks good. Yes, give the horses some extra hay. It'll keep them warmer than extra grain, since digestion of hay is slow and warming, compared to grain.

We have had rain and more rain, mixed with a bit of snow that hasn't amounted to much. We had an ice storm right after we got home from Philly, but we didn't have to go anywhere the next day, and it soon melted. I'm all for the warm weather we've been having to continue all winter. Could we be so lucky?

I tutored today. No real news. The kids are all doing well, even the problem boy.

His sister is still struggling to learn to crochet, now working on single crochet. Crocheting into the chain was confusing, so I did a row of sc so she could practice on real stitches, but even then she was struggling. But we set it aside soon and read some more Jungle Book. She is really getting the hang of that language, and now I don't mark so many words she doesn't know.

The boy is still reading about nuclear reactors making electricity. Today, he pronounced "nuclear" perfectly. I was working on that with him last time. When I told him that a former president didn't even pronounce it right, with a lot of ridicule, it got him doing it, I think. In spite of Bush and Carter's Nuclear Pronunciation Might Be Right I think it should be pronounced nu-cle-ar. That's the way it's spelled, after all.

Saturday, the next day I tutor, I'll be working with the new boy, the new girl's older brother. I'll be seeing what his reading level is like, etc., the first time. I plan to give him The Green Futures of Tycho to read, either with help or alone. I got it a few days ago and read it again after all these years. I think all the kids will enjoy it. I think the original girl will get Mr. Popper's Penguins to read on her own next. I think she's ready for it.

The new girl wants poetry next. Interesting, but she'll get some of The Child's Garden of Verses. I have the Little Golden Book. I asked her to read a short piece last time and then retell the story, and she discussed it as I have asked before. I showed her what I said and made sure she understood. I think, like the other girl used to, she needs price in reading directions.

The youngest boy is doing well. He forgot his homework at the restaurant, and his brother emailed me to ask me to pick it up there on the way to their house. His mom said he was crying because he forgot it.

Sandy, you, or any of the residents of Voltville for that matter, are always welcome to come for dinner. Thing is I can't promise steak and shrimp on the grill, LOL.

Tritium, keep yourself warm. I see the temps are getting a little low in your neck of the woods, colder than here again.

    Happy New Year, Voltillians!

Celti, how are you making out with all the flooding? I was wondering about that earlier today.

Oh we are good considering we are on a ridge... To y'all in the North it would probably be a hill, lol! Its just very muddy but everywhere around us is bad flooding. Matter of fact on the way home from my mama's Christmas eve, we had to take a couple of back, back roads (considering we were already on a back road ;)) because a creek washed out the road.:shock: Yup... Very wet....:glug::glug::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Thankfully all the stores we frequent are above creek level so we can get food!:thumbs::thumbs:
