Hey guys. I stopped by to see if there was any word from Wuzz. I see there isn't. :(

Uncle evacuated to a friends place around Ft Lauderdale, which in my opinion is a worse place than if he stayed home. He's 10 miles inland but is now closer to where Matthew could make landfall. I hope he stays safe.
He's staying at home and weathering out the storm there. Last word I heard from him, he was watching movies with his bride. I hope that storm doesn't hit too hard. :nun::nun::nun:

I hope everyone along the southern east coast is either out of the danger zone or really well hunkered down. The evacuation efforts are showing what overpopulation of a specific region can produce in an emergency. A relative of one of Mrs. Awsum's co-workers spent five hours TRYING to get to Orlando from the coast and gave up, turned around and went home. It's a half hour drive under normal conditions. Not a good situation.
I thought that evacuation plans now include making all lanes of major highways going in one direction?

    'moanin, Voltizens.

3mg, that was with 528, the toll road, one way, west, only! The problem is there's no way to exit on what were the east bound lanes, opposite direction. There's a severe choke point where the both sides merge to allow access to the exits, four or six lanes reduced back down to two or four lanes. In theory, it's a great plan. In practice, the practicality just isn't there. Instead of a two lane parking lot, a four lane parking lot gets created.

@Wuzznt Me -- Are you and yours somewhere safe from the incoming hurricane? I'm feeling very, very glad not to be near the E coast of my native state.
Hi Lady. We're south of Daytona and getting hammered at the moment. Actually we'll have hurricane until about 8 pm. It has been downgraded from a cat 4 to a 3 and moved a little east. Power keeps going on and off and I'm sure it'll go off and stay that way in a little while.

We'll be fine Terry. Thanx for the concern.

So far it seems it has not hit land (the eye that is). Hopefully this is good news for the degree of damage to be done.
The eye is just off our coast. We're close enough to get full tilt.

This isn't our first rodeo. We're both Native Floridians and have survived many of these storms. Most people here that die do foolish things. Staying in our house and making all the preparations is probably safer than the roads people are evacuating on.

Wow. This thing is an evil beast. Winds shifted to west now which means we're in the thick of it. I'm amazed to still have power although it does keep going off for short periods of time. Still got 8+ hours. Time for a nap. Great sleeping weather
You don't want to do any yard-work??

    Your nearest hydrogen bomb.
I see your weather is cooling down too, Tritium. We've been in the upper 40's the last few mornings but manage to get up to 70 or 57 during the day. Really nice temperature range.
Hey awsum, we have similar temps now, much better than the blazing heat, we expect rain the for the next 2-3 days.

Seems all of our friends were safe!

I think Wuzz will have lots of yard work to do tomorrow!
Morning all. Got a lot of yard work alright but don't plan on doing it until Monday. Got to call a roofer for an estimate. This was going to be a busy month for me anyway. Got some insurance stuff to take care of for Dw, the kids are coming down and I finally get to see my new Granddaughter and hold her.

    'afternoon, Voltaticalytes.

We're getting what's left of Matthew. We got a little rain from a cold front yesterday but last night we got more from Matthew as he peters out and moves out to sea. I'm glad to hear all the denizens of Voltville made it through without any catastrophic damage.

I'm watching "Cliffhanger" at the moment, in between working around the house. I usually look movies up on IMDB to find out where they were filmed. Turns out this one was filmed in Italy, mainly. The other thing that's interesting is that the scene in the early part of the movie where people transfer from one plane to another in flight was a "real" scene and not a special effect. It was filmed in the US and the insurance carrier refused to insure the stunt man that did it, deeming the stunt too dangerous. In fact, he transferred from one plane to the other, in flight, at 15,000 feet! In reality he couldn't get into the target plane but movie magic makes it look like he did. That stunt cost $1,000,000.00 to do and Stallone reduced his fee for the movie to help cover that cost.

IMDB has great info on movies and "stars".

Good morning Voltville. Weather is cooling off here since Mat blew through. We've got the fall changing of the colors. It's a little different in Florida. The license plates on the interstates are changing color instead of the trees.
