And he always will be in your heart, JoAnne. Some things fade but I still remember all my doggies. Hubby and I were just talking about the different dogs we have had over the years. The good, the bad, the ugly and the ridiculous. Animals give our lives so much diversity. Never a boring moment when you have critters.

Aww JoAnn, I'm so very sorry about Spanky, my heart goes out to you. I have wondered many times how things were going but I didn't want to write and bother you. He was well loved and he knew it, you can be sure of that.

Winter is still going strong here too Awsum, ugh. The melt I mentioned the other day did not extend to much, but the roof is cleared off. I still can't get around outside of the plowed areas, it's just no fun scooping snow into the top of my boots.

Hi to everyone!

I didn't realize how much until I had to let him go. Now I am packing up his stuff which is really hard to do but I am giving it to the ASPCA. No more dogs for me.

I understand completely. The loss is overwhelming. No more dogs for me either, but that's because I love giant dogs and they have a tendency to topple me. And I like to be able to get up and go at the spur of the moment. Can't do that when you have a dog unless they can go with you. It may be the way that you feel now, but a puppy may help you feel happiness again after you've had adequate time to grieve for your precious Spanky. My heart is with you, JoAnn. (((HUGS)))

I haven't been in Voltville in quite a while but I still consider all of you my friends. That's why I had to let you know. I guess I should change my "avi" but I just can't bring myself to do it. He is still in my heart.

Why change your avi? For now, it's a tribute. Unless it hurts you. Then it might be a good idea. He will always be in your heart. And you in his.

Never say never. My sister's dog reached her time about the same time as our mother. The double-whammy was very rough on her. That was several years ago. She recently got a new puppy, and they are both doing well.

I've been hiking around in the woods for the last hour or so while the bots cleaned my floors. Well, I haven't gotten to the living room yet. It has sawdust all over it and that isn't likely to change for a bit. Sometimes ... I think that I'm not a normal female. Anyhow, I collected SD cards from the Trail Cams, checked out the contents, and returned them. One of them I moved to a new location. The only critter that it picked up was the propane truck. But the sky is blue unbroken by clouds and the temperature is actually one degree above freezing! Saw lots of critter tracks and none that were human. That's always a good thing considering that I don't have curtains. I don't much see the need for them. No neighbors as far as the eye can see other than furry or feathered ones. Why would I wanna block the view?

Okay. Time to turn a mopping bot loose so I have to give him the run of the room. Later folks!

As cold as it is at your place, I bet there aren't a lot of critters on the move, Raven.

Once I get the laminate floors, I want one of those bots:)

Sometimes when it's really cold the critters have to get out and move around to get their blood circulating. I see a lot of squirrels performing their acrobatics when it's crazy cold out. Last night I saw a movement on surveillance and heard a loud thunk so I looked out on the front porch to investigate. There was an opposum wandering about in the snow. The "thunk" was a small log from the woodpile. It was in single digits here last night.

The bots are great, but they are pricey. About $400 new. I have a penchant for picking up units on eBay that are labeled "For Parts" and fixing 'em just cuz I love a good puzzle. Terry's wanting one too.

So ... I recently found on FB one of my only female friends from high school. I'd been looking all over for her with Google for years and having no luck with it. There she was on FB. Couldn't believe it. She stole my BF in high school and I actually helped her to run away and elope with him. He really wasn't my type, so I didn't mind terribly. Anyhow - tonight she asked if she could come visit me in mid-May. She lives in Oregon now, but will be visiting her folks in Columbus, Ohio which is where I was born and raised. She'll only be able to visit for a day or so, but I'm really excited to see her again. Say what you will about FB, but it is a good way to re-connect or stay connected.

Another spring photo.

It was warmer today. They said a high in the mid-teens, but I think at midday, it might have been in the 20s. Or maybe the bright sun just made it feel warmer.

I went to the barn to groom Penny, and she was much better about lifting that hind foot. Of course, I rubbed her leg, but just the left one today to see if that'd work. I was wondering about it being some problem in the right hind leg, but either the rubbing isn't making any difference or else the problem is in the left leg, so just rubbing that one worked. Or, equally likely, she's just healing from whatever the problem was. Or, also likely, the warmer weather is making her less stiff and achy. Whatever the answer is, I'm glad that she didn't seem as bothered as before. She almost seemed normal, but I didn't lift her leg high to see if that'd work for fear it wouldn't, and it might set us back some.

Both horses seemed in better spirits. I think they appreciate some more reasonable temperatures and sunshine, too.

The boy's dad was home and came out to the barn to chat. He showed me where a huge mound of snow was against the barn. All that snow slid off the barn roof and blocked both doors to the horses' little turnout area. The boy shoveled paths to the 2 doors, which must have been an awful job. The snow on either side must have been about 4 feet high.

Beautiful photo! It looks like it belongs in one of those catalogs from which you order bulbs. Just looking at that, I'd be tempted to buy the narcissus and the grape muscari. It makes me long for springtime even more because I know that I put a ton of bulbs in the ground this past fall. Can't wait to see what'll come up when the season is finally upon us. It can't come too soon for me.

Sounds like the horses are appreciating the more hospitable temperatures as well. It's great that Penny seems to be recovering. I hope she continues along that path. :)

I'm looking forward to seeing my BF today. He's had a rough week because the inclement weather conditions directly affect his job. Buses in his/Terry's neck of the woods had a terrible time navigating through all of those winding, hilly back country roads in the slick and snowy conditions. Some got stuck. Some lost traction and ended up where buses shouldn't be. Methinks the BF needs some major spoiling to recover. Heaven knows he spoils the heck outta me. You should see what I'm wearing on my left ring finger. No - we aren't engaged and have no plans of going that route. We both have bonds to land that we never want to leave, and we're content with our current relationship as is. However, we just wanna mess with the minds of his family members. That can be fun.
