Well!
I'm off to bed, since i have no new pics here some of a friend of mine, we were on the air force together. He is actually a pro photographer and one of the best in the region.
Some of them cannot be shown here so i am placing only some models and some random ones.
He quitted the life in the city and went to a farm he tries to start with olive trees etc and i'm helping him to start a garden.

 Stunning photos, Tritium!

Glad you had one photo for us old cougars, Kon:) Your friend is a good photographer.

Raven - absolutely wonderful phtos. Glad you got a chance to recharge your batteries. I love Otis.

Zero - sounds like you are working on your move to the city. Try to relax into your new lifestyle:) The city has some real advantages like public transportation and stores that are close by.

I loved Otis too, and thank you about the photos. It's funny: When you're out there, you notice the little things. Sometimes those are the most beautiful things that are often overlooked. Ya just can't see this stuff unless you spend serious time out there. Alone, and without distractions. I'm the luckiest woman in the world. Just sayin'.

0mg, I'm sorry about your car, but maybe a move to the city will suit you better. Having a car is convenient, but it's a big expense and provides lots of woes when it doesn't work. My daughter lives in NYC, and she has never even bothered to get a driver's license. I think she should learn to drive and get a license, even if she doesn't want a car, but I've given up trying to talk her into it.

Penny had an adventure this evening. I got a call from the father of the family. The son, who usually takes care of the horses, is visiting a friend, so the dad was bringing the horses in for the night, and he called me to say that Penny was lying down and couldn't get up. I rushed over there, and she was stuck with her feet up on a hump of brush or manure or whatever it was. She couldn't get her feet under her because they were uphill on this mound. I tried to get her up, and she struggled, but then she gave up. So I started digging out the stuff that was under her front legs. There was snow still clogged in there, but I had a rake, the kind that's stiff, made of hard metal, and that pulled away enough of the stuff that finally she could get up. Whew! I think she looked a bit stiff and sore, and I didn't know if it's better to walk her to loosen her up or if she was better off just standing in her stall. Since the light was failing and the ground was muddy and uneven, I opted for the stall. Besides, maybe moving her would hurt her worse.

The vet is scheduled to give the horses their spring shots on Saturday morning, so I'll talk to her about it then. Meanwhile, the dad thought maybe the horses should go out in one of the big pastures tomorrow. I suggested he call his son and discuss it and decide which pasture, because it's so muddy that they are liable to tear up the grass before it even gets a start.

It's been warm, so I took Penny's blanket off today, but tomorrow is supposed to start getting colder, and it might snow tomorrow night! Enough already! I doubt we'll get spring this year. I bet it'll go right from winter to summer, which makes me sad, because I hate the heat even more than I don't like the cold. So tomorrow, I'll have to go out and put Penny's blanket back on in the pasture, probably. Jasmine will probably do her best to monkey with the stuff I take out there. It should be interesting. I hope Penny's OK, not more injured from being stuck. Her hind leg seemed pretty good today when I cleaned out her feet.

OMG how scary SandySu. I hope Penny is okay tomorrow when you go see her.

Yeah, minus the snow it will be winter here tonight. They are predicting 25 degrees which is a hard freeze. This could set the trees and shrubs back considerably if the leaves get too frozen. It's a bad, bad thing.

moanin', Volties.

It looks like our weather has finally gotten past that hard freeze point but I still think we'll be getting some freezing temperatures in the next week or two. It was 60 when I got up this morning. Say what you will about metric and English, the English system is more granular.

The LED floodlight works quite well. It lights up an area about 100x100 and is mounted at about 20 feet. I have it tilted down at about a 45 degree angle and it lights up the side porch and driveway really well. It replaced a 300 watt halogen floodlight and easily equals the light output of that, at least by my tired old eyes. Overall, I'm happy with it so far but will wait a while and see how much the light output drops off over time.

Beautiful pics Rave - makes me wish next month would get here even faster - we are scheduled for a camping / fishing trip real soon. Your pics make me wish it was now...

That's wonderful! :) Camping and fishing are so good for the spirit. Too many times we get caught up doing indoor things and don't take the time to re-charge by enjoying the great outdoors.

 Poor Penny! I'm sure that was terrifying for her. Sure glad that everything turned out okay. And, I hope that you get a spring soon rather than jumping right into summer. Spring is such a wonderful time of year.

That's downright cold. :( With luck, your plants will survive. We're supposed to drop down to 30 degrees tonight. I don't much like the sound of that.

Guess I have to do taxes today. I've not been in much of a hurry because I'll hardly get anything back anyhow. There's more unpacking and putting camping gear away to be accomplished too.

Good mornin there awsum... What equivalent wattage did you buy with the LED?

I really can't say, with certainty, what the wattage equivalent is. According to the listing it is supposed to be equivalent to a 500 watt halogen according to lumen output. I will say it is easily equivalent to the 300 watt it replaced and it is a 50 watt LED. The light is "bluer" than a halogen or incandescent but that'sOK with us as long as it's bright enough.

Good morning, Voltians.

Good to see you here, Raven:)

Awsum, your lights sound nice. I'll have to remember that ground thing if I talk to hubby about outside lights.

22 degrees out, 44 degrees in the green house. I will have to survey for damage later in the day when it warms up!!!! The greenhouse was about 6 degrees colder than I like it but the plants will be fine.

I think I will work on flower bed clean up, laundry and making ejuice.

LEDs come in different "whites." 3000-3200K (kelvins, color temperature) would be a match to your old halogens. They sell them on eBay, generally in warm white (3000-3500K) and cool white (±6500K). I've been using the warm whites around the house because I prefer my lighting to be ±3500K (bright white). Regular incandescent and cheapo CFLs (±2700K) are too orange - they give me a terrible headache and make me really cranky. Or you could get the RGB LEDs with a DMX board and really go to town!

RGB's have low lumens ;)
DMX (RS485 protocol) is usually used in theater stages and clubs, for home something wireless would be better.

I was kidding about the DMX. I forgot my emoji ->

...kinda. You know how Awsum gets with his projects!

I was more interested in lumen output than color in this application. I've been slowly replacing all the curly fry lights with LEDs inside the house with warm/bright whites. Reasonable color registration and cheaper to run than the curly fry by a few watts each. I do wonder how LED will handle low and high temperature extremes outside and I guess I'll find out over the next year. I don't think they'll be effected, but one never knows, do one?

The thing that bugs me is that even though LED bulbs have gotten less expensive, they are still expensive even compared to curly frys. I guess, eventually, they will drop further. We can only hope.

Yea, the price of them surely offsets the savings - that is why I am replacing the CFL's only as they expire... Oh and I have been told that the LED's do hold up well in the cold weather - better than the CFL's...

Yeah, I can't even THINK about running to Lowes or HD for an LED lamp. That's why I've been getting them from China. No duds so far. And yes, you do have to watch the # of lumens when you shop for them. Sometimes they cheap out and don't tell you.

If the lumen output isn't listed and they won't answer when you ask, I don't buy them. Lowes has had some fairly inexpensive, $6 or $7, dimmable 60 watt that I've been buying. Another thing is LED bulbs are bigger than incandescent and that makes the a tuff fit in some applications, like a fan/light in the bathroom. The 40, 60 and 75 watt seem a little bigger than an A40 (standard incandescent size) and the 100 is definitely larger. I guess it's a function of the electronics needed to run them.

Yes, maybe the heat dissipation of the electronics. The "ballast" in that floodlight is mounted in a large, cast, finned, box for that reason, but I haven't noticed anything like the heat level of an incandescent coming off an LED bulb. That's one reason why they're so much more efficient, very little wasted energy being dissipated as heat. If I remember correctly a 100 watt incandescent bulb dissipates about 80 or 90 watts of heat and actually produces 10 or 20 watts of light.

What really bugs me is that I used to be able to buy incandescent bulbs for eleven to 17 cents a piece when I worked in the electrical supply house. My stomach acid goes up every time I buy another LED bulb, LOL.
