I think every dog needs that careful and thorough training as well as lots of attention, especially as a pup, to turn out to be a good companion. The first hurdle is getting them to recognize their place in the pack/pecking order. The rest kind of follows. Leo is teething heavily and his hormones are raging as well. We've gotten him to ignore the furniture, our clothes and shoes and most everything else in favor of his toys, and he does give them a hard time. He made it
through the night, last night, with no potty breaks which is another welcome sign. He hasn't had an accident in the house for the last four days. That's a combination of him learning and both of us learning his signals. What can be funny to watch is his clumsiness. He's growing pretty fast and that leads to co-ordination problems at the strangest of times.
He'll be at the vet later this week and get his next set of shots. Once that's out of the way we'll take him to puppy kindergarten and start some formal training. He is a quick learner and knows stop and wait already as well as his name. Overall, he's doing really well although we both expect some rough spots here and there. I think we've made pretty good progress and it's only a week.

I will say a smartphone is handy for getting some pictures on the spur of the moment. The Rugby doesn't have a really high res camera, 5MP, but is a heck of a lot better than my old flip phone.
