Good morning, Voltpeeps.

I have the day off if you count cleaning pens, having a neighbor over, going shopping with another friend, doing laundry and vacuuming a day off:) It is going to be a nice day and I am wasting precious horse training time since it will be too cold to want to do much after today.

'moanin, Voltaticalyteizens.

I know what you mean about the day off, Lizzie. Technically, I have every day off as long as the normal chores that always seem to need to be done, and pile up at times, aren't counted. What makes it worse is that somehow the day just seems to disappear and all of a sudden it's dinner time.

I had to visit Count Dracula and get some blood drawn for a routine, 25,000 mile, checkup later next month. Not having coffee as soon as I get up is always a bummer. I've found out that if I go there around 8:30 or 9:00 there's very little waiting. Unfortunately that puts coffee and breakfast off until 9:30 or 10:00 which make the day fly even faster. I have gotten the laundry done, worked with Leo and started putting things away from Christmas. After lunch the vacuum will be coming out. We're both wondering how Leo will react to that. He doesn't like the stick vac much at all although he has gotten sort of used to it since it get used almost daily.

'afternoon, Voltizens.

Yeah, the knowledge and experience moved into a "fresh" body would be a great thing. With all the bad press Putin is getting many have missed that he is directing a search for "The Fountain of Youth" as well. Russian scientists are working on drugs/treatments that will lengthen lifespan. Hope they don't forget the quality of that increase along the way.

Leo got to go for a ride today. He got into the Jeep through the tailgate rather than a side door. OK, he got in with me picking him up and putting him in, but he didn't hesitate and recognized that it was just a different way to get into the car. Then we went to the bank, which allows dogs inside, and he was a big hit. He got some treats and pets and they gave me a flashlight that has a compartment for poopy bags as well. Those bags seem a little small for Leo though, LOL.

Tomorrow we'll try using the ramp for him to walk up into the Jeep under his own power.

I seem to be fighting a low level cold or flu. Every couple of days I feel achy and feverish then it goes away again. It came back today. Oh well, a couple of ibuprophin takes care of the worst of it.

Good morning, Voltmaniacs.

Last day of the year here. Probably good to have this year over with in some ways. On the other hand, 2016 is the year I got my new horse and I love him. Keep it safe tonight,

Good morning Volties. We've had a couple of chilly nights and cold day yesterday but things are looking up. Back in the 70s today and 80s tomorrow. My blood sugar didn't look so great on my last test and I'm pre diabetic according to an A1C test so I've been working on my diet and exercise to try to turn that around. I'm pretty sure it's self inflicted and ageing doesn't help much either. Happy New Years eve and if you go out stay safe. It amateur night.

'moanin, really moanin, Volties.

We're going to spend a quiet New Years Eve. I did get NY strip steaks and lobster tails but I don't think either of us is in the mood for it tonight, we've both got the same cold. Probably soup and a bagel instead.

2016 definitely had its' ups and downs. Hopefully, there'll be more ups than downs in 2017 for all of us.

Wuzz, I count myself among the lucky ones who went from Type 2 to non diabetic simply through diet and exercise. That doesn't work for everyone, but if you're careful, especially with the food, it can sure help a heck of a lot.

I'm not there yet with pre diabetes which I've never heard of. My cholesterol has been climbing for a couple of years now and I keep saying I need to do something about it but when two A1C tests started climbing it put me in scramble mode. No one in my family has ever had it so I'm not concerned about that too much. Guess I'm kinda like a teabag. I don't do anything until I'm in hot water. Did a bunch of research to find out how to eat and I know how to exercise so I'm expecting different results next test in 3 months. Congrats on turning yours around.

If you're testing your glucose levels, what worked for me was checking it two hours after a meal. That showed what foods wrecked my glucose the most. In the end, I eat whole grain everything with only occasional refined wheat products or white potatoes. They always say stay away from sugar, but the thing that sent me off was white bread or any other refined wheat product.

I'm not up to that yet. My blood sugar was fine after a fast. It was that 3 month average that ratted me out on Dairy Queen, milk and cookies, chocolate and all while sitting on my .... in front of a screen. I'm doing a lot of cinnamon and psyllium husk fiber, either walking 5 miles or riding my bike 15+ at least 5 times a week, working out at the "Y" three days a week and if it grows on a plant I'll eat it. If it's made in a plant I don't. Anything below 5.7 on the A1C test is normal. At 6.5 it's diabetic. 3 months ago I registered 5.9 and didn't change anything in my lifestyle. Wed. before Christmas I registered 6.1. I've got 3 months to turn it around so I started working on it immediately after my appointment. It didn't get this way overnight so I'll be happy if there's progress next time. Actually what I'm doing now is pretty much what I've always done until about 2 years ago when I started putting someone elses health before my own and staying home most of the time as well as getting bit by the gator. Still kept doing the "Y" but I've gotten lax in even that.
