Well we get one more day with my son...went to court this morning and the Judge's docket was too packed, so he put off several cases until tomorrow...I'm glad for the extra day, but it also just prolongs the anxiety even more. But we considered it as a gift and made the best of it.

Hi, Splat. :) Yeppers. The last gasp of winter, I hope; but it's sunshiny and the redbud has bloomed and the oaks, maples, hickory trees have sprouted their new mint green leaves. Very soon the dogwoods will make their announcement,......but quietly. Not like the Downy Woodpeckers on the gutters of the house! LOL :)

Not a good day. :( Judge rejected the prosecutor's recommendation and sentenced my son to the max...gave him 5 years. My boss was so upset because she tried everything to convince the judge but he wouldn't hear it. I know he's gotta do the time, but it doesn't make it any easier...boss told me not to go in to work afterwards and I've just been kind of sitting here in a daze for the last couple of hours... can't really form much of a coherent thought right now, but just kind of needed to come and vent a little...sorry to be a downer.

Thank you guys...I really needed those hugs! Yes, Chooch, the time will be reduced for good behavior and since our prisons are overcrowded they'll want to get him out as soon as they can to make more room...but it's based on a percentage of the total time (can't remember how much right now) so it would have been less with just the 2 years...He was devastated when the judge handed down the sentence...that was the worst part, watching the judge get so angry and reaming him (even if he had it coming) and seeing how scared he was and not being able to even give him a hug or anything. I know, that's the mom in me. Even my boss wanted to hug him and couldn't...And yes, I'll be able to take Princess Angel to visit him once they decide which facility he'll be in, but that could take a couple of months until he's finally somewhere we can visit.

Speechless here, as well. Heartbroken with you. You're all in my prayers.
Do NOT worry about being a 'downer'. You aren't a downer. You're a hurting mom and we're right here to hurt with you.

No tips tonight. It was time to get tax info gathered and together so they can be done in the morning. Yuck.

Angel I am so sorry to hear about the judges decision today. And don't worry about being down. I also have a relative who was sentenced to 12 years and the past eight years have been rough but he and I at least get to talk on the phone and he is trying to stay positive. His last parole packet was outstanding but I don't even think the parole board even read it and gave him a three year offset. He is up for parole again in 2017 but I don't have much faith in the Texas parole board. Everyday that I talk to him I just remind him how loved he is and how each day brings him closer to coming home! So I guess what I am saying is stay strong for your son. He will need you to be.
And let us be strong for you! We are here for you so remember that we laugh together and we cry together.
    We love ya!
