I didn't think this was about
everyone being down on cloud chasing, more like enough people being down on it so that opinion is observed often enough that it becomes noticeable. I honestly think it happens much more often than people being looked down on for flavor chasing, for tootle puffing, or anything else in vaping I can think of right now.
Battery safety concerns are perfectly valid, if the concern is real. It really has nothing to do with cloud chasing though, someone can overdraw a battery in almost any setup if they use the wrong one. I see a lot of people who think battery amp draw in regulated VW mods is affected by atty resistance and that it's obviously unsafe to run at 0.15 ohms on a Sigelei box mod. I saw one person who din't know that Ni coils are going to be very low resistance at best and thought that was dangerous because of the resistance. Then there are the folks who think that running high resistance in a high power box mod is obviously a better vape so why would anyone who knows how to vape properly want to use a 0.15 ohm build. I think these are typically people who have never tried it themselves but think they know because it seems 'obviously' correct to them and it will be a safer vape anyway so it's the right direction to go.
I've seen posts from these folks that includes things like 'why would you want to vape that way anyway' or 'it's all about the cloudz, right', or something along these lines that can seem to be quite negative on the way the person vapes, not just the perceived safety aspect of it.
The really unfortunate thing in my opinion is the bad information being passed around by people who
think they understand how things work but really don't. The good thing is their advice is mostly wrong on the safe side, but it can go the other way too and get people in trouble. And bad information is, well, just bad. Why would we want to put that out there. But of course enough people have to know how things really work before this will stop.
So, yes, I think it's great whenever I see posts that are helpful and reasonably accurate and I'm happy there is some of this happening now. I hope the trend is this is happens more often, but it still has a way to go before it becomes the norm when someone posts they have a 0.10 ohm coil and ask if that's safe. I think threads like this one also help people be less judgmental and more accepting of other ways that people vape.
I also remember that thread in which someone complained about us being hateful and there were people they knew who left because of it. I thought that was a bit off the wall and ignored it
