I have the most recent "sandblasted" version in silver and it definitely seems like an anodized finish. If you take the back piece off you can see the finish is different than the raw stainless steel and where the two meet kind of looks like a layer of paint. Kind of a bummer since a true sandblasted or tumbled stainless steel holds up so well, but for the price you can't complain. Either way, no big scratches on mine yet.

#1. It's an aluminum box, not stainless steel.

#2. If you can see a separation in the finish then it's either paint or powder coated. When you anodize you electrify the metal and then completely submerge it in the solution. If it was anodized finish it would be coated the same inside and out.

Ahh this makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up

I believe volts & amps relate to power and the mAh relates to time. More mAh = longer battery life... As far as too powerful, you would have to watch the volts. I wouldn't go above 4.2v to protect the device. 4.2v being fully charged. I'm no expert, Herb but I THINK this is how it works. [emoji54]

Thanks , yeah i know mAH is runtime i was just confused about whether a 30 amp battery would be beneficial over say a 15 amp or does it matter , i believe these devices can output 12 or 13 amps.

Why pay more for a 30 amp if it won't provide any benefit.

I'm also no expert, but I know from my mech mod days that Li-Ion usually meant head for the hills an take cover. As they were not 'chemistry safe' batteries.

Not sure if that still applies to regulated mods though. You might be better off just playing it safe with some Sony VTC5's. You can usually find em for about $10 a piece.

BTW Herb, are you finally gonna take the plunge and get a Cana?

Don't know where you have been but i received a pm from Clint S asking me if i would be interested in his Cana because he got a new one.

I couldn't believe it and still can't , how thoughtful and generous , a real gem and i couldn't thank him enough.

All depends on the way you build (sub ohms and such) and the watts you set it at...

Ahh, I must have missed that. Too busy playing with my Cana, I suppose. I saw the original offer, but wasn't sure if anything became of it or if it was just an empty offer.

That's awesome! Really! I love to hear this. We are a community and it's things like that make it true and not just words. Good work Clint S!

My girlfriend always says: "Success is individual, Prosperity is collective." I think that is definitely relevant here.

The person who originally said he should send me one of his extras was Steve ? Forgot his full screen name but i new he was kidding , Clint S came out of nowhere and really shocked me especially because if i remember correctly my correspondence with him was on the negative side .

It really says a lot about what kind of person he is , a rare breed for sure.

Well go Clint S! He is a rare breed, indeed! And go you too, Herb. I hope you're enjoying your new mod. :)

The Efest 3100mah batteries are the best option for these things by far, 20a limit is the icing on the cake.

So it really doesn't matter if the battery is 20 amp or 30 amp ? I see some say use VTC 4's and some say VTC 5's , i assume as long as it's a 18650 you can use the most powerful one on the market with no ill effects .

Gotcha thanks for that info. I have managed to scratch mine. 1 friggen scratch right on the front. I forgot it was in my pocket, put my keys in my pocket and it instantly hit me that my mod was in there. Carefully pulled out the keys and there is was.

I finally got sick of trying to baby mine (in the pocket, out and about) and just wrapped it. Must say i actually prefer the tactile feel of the carbon wrap (Jwraps carbon, do no care for the slick regular vinyl).

Also it may not hold true forever but as of right now ive found my 'Holy Grail' set-up and can't see any reason to search for anything else. All i can say is if you havent given the Veritas a shot, and want a beastly dripper that basically WILL NOT leak EVER, do yourself a favor and get one of the $15 clones (101 has um). Only knock is, its hard(er) to build.

Alright, I'm intrigued.

How would you say the vapor temperature is? It looks to have an interesting air flow path.

What makes it hard(er) to build? Other than that it looks like you're forced to build chimney (vertical) coils?

What's with the 510 pin "update" I've been reading about. I'm thinking about getting one of these from elev8Vape or 101vape, but just doing some research before I pull the "bang stick" on it. I've got button-top Sony VTC4 and VTC5 batteries and will be switching back and forth between either a KFL+ and a PTII. Any "gotchas" I need to be aware of?

well dammit! I can't seem to get any of the facts straight. Maybe I should be a supreme court judge!

Your being too hard on yourself , first offense is usually mild , it mainly involves a sledge hammer , an anvil and your fingertips , now second offense is what i would be concerned about.

Bungee jumping with a no stretch rope attached to your junk.

Temperature wise, it performs nearly identical to most other RDA's i have, but i don't build much lower than .7. I could see it having a tendency to retain heat a bit more than others due to the extra metal of the deck.

It pretty much has to be built vertical, but either single or duals will work.

It's mainly a pain to build due to the top binder nut (not ideal imo, may search out a thumb screw) and the way you need to orient the coil(s) to get the best results/vapor from the airflow system. My build was probably much more difficult because i built dual micros (now i know the tricks, its should be much easier), if you watch the original makers video/build, its not a micro, but he does it very fast (think he says 2 minute build or something).

The performance is really good, but the number one pro of this atty is the nearly leak proof nature of it.

Theres not a lot of drippers that you can hit with 20-25 drops then (without vaping) lay it airhole down and not have a drop leak. Also the aesthetics are pretty good (i have the tobecco clone and the ambigram engraving is really nice).

I hope it's just the frank and not the beans... might make it longer.

I think at this point, all of the old 510 pins have been recalled/replaced. Just order from a reputable dealer like 101 or Fluid Vapes and even if you accidentally do get one with the old 510 connector they should swap it out for you, no problem.
Although, I think I saw on Fluid Vapes this morning that the current wait time is at least a week right now. could be 101 too, haven't looked.

I've been using mine that I ordered from Fluid Vapes for almost two weeks now with my kayfun and Protanks and I couldn't be happier!

Yes the [almost] leak proof is what really drew me too it.

Can you post a pic of your coil build? (it doesn't have to be pretty) but I'll probably do a dual micro coil myself if I were to get one, so i'd just like to see how it sits in there.

I'm in the market for a new RDA and I'm really having trouble deciding between the Magma, Atty, Tugboat (california edition of course) ...and now the Veritas. But I don't think any other atty can tackle the leak issue as well as you say the Veritas does.
