Does anyone have experience with charging this through a computer?

I'm using a macbook air and very hesitant to use it to charge the clone. It would so convenient to do so, but I need my computer for work so I'm not willing to risk it unless I feel very confident it's not going to brick my macbook.

Further to this, does anyone know if vaping it while charging it through the computer poses more risk of damaging the computer than simply charging it there?

If the computer goes to sleep the USB ports also go to sleep. I personally wouldn't charge on the computer & definitely not Vape while charging on computer.

You can set your power settings (on Windows anyway idk about mac) to not disable usb) while sleeping. That said I don't let my computer sleep as its my media server as well. I've been using my Xbox one to charge mine and will randomly "toot" on it, as Grim Green would say, while it's charging. Imo, it's perfectly safe. It's not going to fry your usb, I've heard zero issues with overcharging or anything relatively bad relating to the device used to charge it. Nor have I experienced any issues over the course of time I've had it. Btw, my first charge was from my laptop, did what it should just super slow!

Forgot to mention,
in my conversation with Arlind he did not give me the impression that he had heard of my phantom screen issue before BUT he did give me the impression that there have been a handful of customers with other issues AND that a couple were effectively DOA straight from Cloupor (would not detect shorted attys IIRC)
So no hard numbers on early failures but honestly I am far more interested in the overall longevity of otherwise problem free models

It will be completely fine. Only reason I tend not to do that is most most usb ports (not all) on computers put out very low amperage so it would take for ever to charge.

2nd it is not a true pass through, so when you vape it while plugged in it draws from your battery NOT the usb. Which is why the device will not operate while plugged in if you have a dead cell or no cell installed.

All i want is something that is reliable and has an MVP form factor but it has to have a replaceable battery . I don't care who makes the chip , will it last is what i want to know but i don't think that will be known for at least a year .

Seems the only real way to go for indefinite reliability is to go mechanical , a circuit board can go bad at anytime , thats what i hate about them lol.

Should there be a charging problem it is a lot cheaper to replace a wall wart than USB port or motherboard.

True, if there was say, for example water spilled on the charging port or it was faulty, which if you can charge via wall adapter, it shouldn't be. You should feel no less safe than charging say an mvp. Energy flows one way...

Get a Reo then.
Its a box, a mech, and you get to squonk!

But you are right. Nothing is tougher than a mech. I dont care how tough your provari is or whatever, it cant touch a mech for no nonsense reliability.

So while I would like to make my Cana my daily ride, my mechs will always be waiting in the wings.

I second the Reo, if it's in your budget.
Not all mechs are made alike, I've seen some pretty cheap mechs...

You're probably gonna want to go ahead and do that. Mine arrived 3 days ago and is working flawlessly, no problems

Ha! You're not helping. Wife and I have been saving and trying to cut down big time on expenses and this is not helping. Three different times I have ordered it and cancelled at the very last minute before I enter my payment info. To make matters worse, I'm drinking some whiskey tonight and this buzz is not helping my decision making.

Finally caught up in here. I've had my clone for 2 weeks tomorrow. My only complaint so far is I feel like I'm not getting as much battery life as I would have thought. I've never had an 18650 mod, so I don't really know if it's truly the case, but I thought 2600mah would last longer. I almost feel like the battery is draining when it's asleep. How much battery life are you getting out of those 3100mah efest's curly?
