I grant that some probably would go back to smoking. But again if not dual using, I think they'd hate it immensely if, for them, it was their only option. Which it clearly isn't.
Maybe we're picking a nit and actually in agreement LOL.

Admittedly my circle of people close to me who also vape is tiny. However, at a glance fairly representative of the younger 20-30 yr old crowd. That is, in terms of how they act about the habit whether it's smoking or not.

The young men I'm most familiar with really aren't dedicated to quitting smoking. It's like interchangeable to them. 6 one, half dozen the other. When they run out of vape stuff they just buy smokes until they get around to replenishing. Those are the folks that are not going to have a solid solution the day they decide to get serious about quitting smoking.

I think the economics will truly favor vaping going forward. I'm not sure what smokes cost on black market, but I don't see eLiquid on black market being terribly expensive. As a person not stocking up, but familiar with many that are, I think there will be many who see it as way to get some good income going. I mean many of you are claiming it cost pennies per day to vape, given your stock. So if charging 3 to 5 times what is cost to you, that's a substantial profit, with little to no overhead. But I realize most stockers will be hoarders.

I currently can't think of any advantage one would have in buying smokes over vaping, other than for those who (truly) enjoy smoking more than vaping.

That's what a rational person would think. Looking at it long term. The guys I'm talking about have a much shorter planning horizon. As in minutes not months or years.

I agree with that for sure. There will be people who will return because in essence, they don't know any better in the moment.

I still think as long as vaping exists (and I believe it will always exist), that cessation will be there for whoever wants it, via vaping. As a proud dual user (though I'm around 1 cig a month currently, maybe less), I see very little issue with smokers. Wanna smoke? Go ahead, enjoy yourself. Wanna cut back or cease smoking? Vapor will be there when you need it.

Even if so, it's a question of who's juice? Who's vapor device? What choices?
The future is undefined, but even if it's heat-not-burn, or chem (no battery) e-cigs, or Alto or whatever, it's hard to sell an "it will always be there" stance, since it's totally banned in some states right now (Massachusetts).

Not even a little bit hard to sell the "it will always be there" stance, since banning doesn't mean it's no longer there.

Which was precisely the point I was making.

Sure, just like anything else illegal, it will still be available -- if you happen to know the right person, who's willing to risk the consequences of being part of an illegal supply chain, and you're willing to pay the price he's charging.

But when we get to that point, it will probably be easier and cheaper to go to the local convenience store and buy a pack of Cowboy Killers.

Have you ever bought anything on black market? With cannabis, it is cheaper than it is on market that is regulated. It's very easy to find contacts who distribute. And that's with a drug that is around 30 times harder than nic.

Your notion that it'll be very risky, dangerous and expensive are all laughable.

If I had, I certainly wouldn't put that fact in writing on a public forum.

But I did go to college in the 1970s, so....

Tell that to the hundreds of people with lung damage due to black market "carts".
