Ticking off the neighbors on Facebook..

Govt wants your:
Guns - even though you have never threatened anyone
My vape- because some drug addicts mis-used the equipment
Might as well change legal drinking age to 65 to avoid all the harm it causes

Remember the govt knows best right?

Ps,, don't forget to swallow those cancer packed meds the FDA approved

You missed something.

Due to the fact that flavors are only for children all US citizens upon reaching the age of 18 will be required to drink only plain water and eat only Soylent green.

Ex-FDA chief Gottlieb blames outbreak of deadly vaping illness on illegal nicotine products

CDC Principal Deputy Director Dr. Anne Schuchat flagged e-cigarette leader juul's use of salts in its vaping devices as particularly dangerous for teenagers.

"Juul products use nicotine salts, which can lead to much more available nicotine," she said, adding that doctors believe the salts allow nicotine to "cross the blood brain barrier and lead to potentially more effect on the developing brain."

The FDA is currently finalizing its guidance to remove all nontobacco flavors of e-cigarettes, including mint and menthol, from the market within 30 days.

"If you ask kids what they use, they don't say 'I vape,' they say, 'I Juul,'" said Gottlieb, who led an anti-vaping crusade when he was the head of the FDA.
So what I took from that story is that;
They still believe nicotine inhalation causes lung damage,
Nicotine salts are the devil,
The rise in youth ecigarette use was due to JUUL,
This lead to normalization of the delivery method,
THC oil vaping became more popular because this,
Which led to the illnesses and deaths currently in the news.

lol now i have to watch this
she was a professor and specialized in consumer law
She was excellent in that hearing, though they trampled all over her and dismissed everything she said. She remained calm and objective. Honestly can't imagine how anyone could have done better than she did in that situation.

I believe that many users of flavors will go back to smoking. Participation here represents a tiny part of the total number that vape. We're the few that care enough about doing it right and learning about it, to participate here. Add to that, we're generally a mature group due to these old style forums appealing less to younger folks who tend toward the latest social media app instead.

My point is, at least 90% of people who vape learn everything about it word of mouth, and from the retailers at the store they buy their product from. Most of them barely care enough to bother with the learning curve and little extra effort that vaping takes than smoking. I can't tell you how many people I've met who vape, that, for lack of knowledge or interest, also consider vaping the same thing as smoking. Just like the idiot politicians and medical pros doing the congress dog & pony show. In fact, wouldn't think twice about picking up some smokes the day they aren't able to buy the vape they use at the gas station they always shop at.

Mostly just addressing the bolded parts. My main point is once you vape, it's really really hard to go back. If people are dual using (which technically I still am), then I could see them possibly going back to full time smoking. If not, that first (and tenth) drag of the smoke you haven't had in over a year, will quite possibly lead you to never smoking again. ESPECIALLY knowing that vaping still exists.

I also don't see the underground vape market being all that secretive. I may be mistaken about that, but feel confident I'm not. If suddenly caffein were demonized as much as nic, and then banned, I'm sure an underground market for (caffeinated) coffee would emerge, and be fairly well known for existing. I also think a whole lot of people (many non users) would mock such a ban left and right.

I grant that some probably would go back to smoking. But again if not dual using, I think they'd hate it immensely if, for them, it was their only option. Which it clearly isn't.

That DEFINITELY counters what I was saying. Though, I think they'll still technically allow flavors, as long as one is willing to play ball with FDA.

The removal of flavors I would think would be lead to a court challenge. Currently not sure how FDA could explain/justify it other than to say flavors are allowed as long as they pass PMTA.

Is Mango Tobacco a viable flavor?

Honestly I use several juices, some are 'tobacco' flavors, but here we go again with laws and quagmires of poor definitions.

To use an example-

That was what the Clean Water Rule of 2015 sought to correct, the Clean Water Act is old news going back to the 70s and really before that, but because there was no clear definition of WOTUS (Waters of the United States) it put a lot of people, including farmers, in the position of trying to figure out what that means. If you really wanted to follow the law it could mean spending 10s of thousands on a lawyer to try to figure out what that meant. It also meant some were getting penalized because the wording was so vague some were getting slammed with drive by penalties, based on little more then personal whim. Oh well the Clean Water Rule just got rolled back too. The Clean Water Act did not.

When you write laws that have vague definitions, you basically open it up to government over reach, so I'll be very curious to read what 'tobacco' flavor means.

Back in the days of the PMRC anti potty mouth nannies trying to regulate free speech, I remember a phrase, we can't exactly define pornography, but when we see see it, we can identify it. I guess with tobacco flavors, they will decide that if it passes the sniff test or the taste test, it will be determined whether OK or not.:facepalm:

Accusing the man who tried to kick the PMTA deadline a full four years into the future of leading "an anti-vaping crusade" is absurd. If Gottlieb had intended to clamp down on vaping, he could have done so easily by leaving the 8/8/2018 deadline in place and vigorously enforcing it. He also refused to enforce the "no new products after 8/8/2016" part of the rule. If it weren't for Gottlieb, it would have all been gone more than a year ago.

Sociology is not communism.

Communism is an economics term.
ZOMG This is "vaping = smoking" all over again!

But at least she got the vaping stuff correct.
