Good morning all!
CJ's party went well. No one puked up cake and hotdogs on the trampoline, so I consider that a success!
Kat's tournament was a roller coaster of bad and good. They got demolished in their first two games. Then, on the third game, they were doing really REALLY good. They were up 7-0 when it started raining...then pouring...then straight up thunder storming. They called off the games because it got so bad. The lightning was hitting close enough to hear the thunder almost immediately after the strike. We couldnt leave because it was raining so hard and I had my telecom battery there to run the fan. Once it started to let up a little bit, we got all the chairs packed, I broke down the popup canopy, stacked everything in the wagon, and walked the short distance to the van. Every got completely soaked. I didnt bother loading the van properly. I just lifted the entire 200 pounds worth of loaded wagon into the van and told Kat to hold on to it while we drove home. BUT, as far as I know, that last game was scored as their first win of the season!
Yesterday morning was kind of a lazy start. Once I actually got moving, I unloaded the van and set everything up on the back porch to dry out. Ate a small early lunch, then dozed on and off on the couch until about 1. When went outside to put everything back away, it really sank in how filthy the van was. So I made Melanie and CJ get all of the trash out, and I spent the next two hours vacuuming it out. It was only 97 degrees. In a black van. No breeze. By the time I finished, I was drenched and had to take a second shower. I was mad too. One of the rules I set when we got the new van was nothing but water was to be consumed in the van. I found chips, popcorn, biscuit crumbs, onion rings, french fries, a
juice stain, and other unidentifiable detritus all over the floor and in the seats. The seats and dash still need to be wiped down and cleaned, but the carpets are unrecognizable.
After my shower, we went to my brother's new house for a house warming party. I ate WAY too much. BBQ. Smoked chicken. Mexican pulled pork. Low country boil (crawdads/crawfish/crayfish/mudbugs, corn, taters, sausage).
dessert was a rice crispy treat bowl that had been coated with melted chocolate and filled with a peanut butter dip. We all had a good time. Plenty of food. Plenty of adult beverages. Even my wife had a whole glass of wine. One of my brother's friends brought a crossbow over. Everyone had a shot or two with it. Even Kat. Of course, Kat was the only one who completely missed the target and lost the bolt. Mrs "I shoot bow and arrow! I want a cross bow for Christmas!" was the only one who totally missed... But still. We all had a good time.
And now that my weekly novel is done, it's time to get some work accomplished. It's gonna be a big delivery day... I am NOT looking forward to it. Yay Monday!!!
