Reading through the thread, I decided to initially remove the juice control ring, and tap the cotton lightly through the top of the wick ring over the channels... I'm happy to report no leaking, and wicking quite well with my 50/50 DIY. :)

The v2 is VERY nicely designed and well-made IMO. :) Loads of dense vapor, and flavor. I'm happy to have another solid, single-coil deck to work with as well. ;) Along with my Goliath v2, I should be set for awhile now in that department.

Agree with this tank and the Goliath v2 being tops in my current rotation...along with the EHP/Eciggity Morph that performs great with nickel builds. Still dialing in the CHv2 as far as wicking, but I've got it just about nailed....I think.

I'm really enjoying the type of vape this tank gives with a single coil. Like I posted earlier, dense, and flavorful. :vapor: I haven't messed with using the juice control yet, and may not reinstall the ring, since I like the way it's been wicking and bubbling away as it is. ;) Not bad at all to fill, and has good capacity. So far, I'm very pleased with it overall.

This evening's lineup... Cthulhu v1, Cthulhu v2, and the Goliath v2. :) The mods underneath feature the YiHi SX350 series.. SX350 box mod / SXMini S / SXmini M Class:

I just pre-ordered the 'Black' Cthulhu V2 from Smog since I like the SS one I have so much. I like this better than my Lemo's (and I have them ALL, and I still use them daily). I consider the Cthulhu V2 an Upgrade for me.

I'm with you 100% on that one . With the juice control ring adjustment I can dial it in for either a Very Wet Vape, a Very Dry Vape, or anywhere in between, I've never had a juice control ring to play with on an RTA B4 (I also use the wick ring, if that matters any). The single coil deck is Dead Simple (the wicking could be tricky though), I've yet to try the Dual Coil Deck, I'm just Love'in this single coil deck too much to experiment with just yet. :vapor: I hope Ya'll's experience is similar to mine. :)

Edit; I've settled on 12.5 Watts, 1.4-1.5 Ohms (wish I knew the code to get the Ohms symbol to appear) and 4.2 Volts on a Sigelei 50 Vr2 with a tight MTL on the Air Flow. ModWhomp'in the Cthulhu V2 with 12mg Unflavored MBV.

I finally received mine today ([HASHTAG]#992[/HASHTAG]). I didn't see any shavings or machine oil, but I gave it a bath and a scrub anyway. I have been paying attention to this thread but I told myself I wanted to go into the actual assembly fairly blind. I didn't find it terribly difficult to assemble, re-assemble. Or at least, I was expecting worse. The threading was pretty good on mine. And the only part that gave me problems was the juice flow inner ring -- when I switched decks, I thought the single was just in one piece, so the inner ring was still attached.

The one thing I'm slightly disappointed with is that the deck is a smidge tighter than I hoped it would be. I wrapped some 26/32, 6 wrap, 3mm claptons yesterday thinking that I would just toss them right on. I think I could get them to fit, but it definitely wasn't the right first build :)

My first build actually ended up being a fairly weird one. I also had a strand of 24/32 clapton that I was looking to try. So I did a 2.5mm 5 wrap and again had to work it over pretty good to get it to fit. My reference vape (for my ADV, Placid) is a 7 wrap 26guage Lemo 2 build -- the aim being a cool/warm, very wet and dense vape. This vape (comes out to .25ohms) at 30 watts, and a near closed off airflow is close, which impresses me seeing as how its the first build. I'm anxious to tear it down and try the 26/32 clapton.

As for wicking...I like the ring. I used it as a measuring gauge for wick length and just tucked it down to where I could just see some fibers on the bottom side.It seems to be wicking well, right now, but it does feel like its wanting to veer toward the dry side. Might have to skim back through this thread and look closer at the pictures. (This thread has been super helpful, by the way!)

Even with the quirks, I think this is the first RTA I've had in the last year that I'll probably hang onto (aside from my Lemos).

What are you single coil fans running in it?

Today you finally got it ? I received mine Wed, the 30th I believe, in the morn'in mail. My serial # is 1939, I got it from Smogdistro as a pre-order though.

I'm running a 30g 'UD' Twisted Kanthal A-1 coil, 7 wraps on a 3mm Coil Master V3, 1.4-1.5 Ohms @ 4.2Volts, Low over the air flow hole, @ 12.5 watts, tight MTL on the air, juice flow ring set about mid way. I Love my Lemo's, and now this Cthulhu V2. Life's Good. :thumb: I'm glad that you're happy also.

Cool, thanks for the reference...I might actually give the single coil a shot instead of rebuilding the dual deck. I'm more of a single coil fan, but dual claptons (and the other exotics I'm capable of halfway producing well) can get me pretty close to my ideal vape.

Yeah, I ordered from Smog, as well (I just impulsed pre-ordered the Bellus over there, actually...only 100 slots, so get over there if you want one!).

I finally had a chance to build this Cthulhu V2 last night ([HASHTAG]#1257[/HASHTAG]). I was going to try the dual coil deck and noticed the pin that holds the juice control ring in place was missing :(. I went ahead and built it with the single coil deck, 2x twisted SS430, 5 wrap, 2.5 mm with rayon. I cut off about 80-90% of the wick and had just a tiny bit of wick left to tuck just under the wick ring but not long enough to see it on the bottom of the ring. The first tank was so-so... not crazy flavorful but not bad. Luckily, the juice control using the single deck operates pretty smoothly (AFC has just the right amount of resistance as well) and I closed it off, took a few vapes, top filled it, took a few vapes and opened it back up and it's become incredibly smooth and flavorful. I've filled it like 6 or 7 times now, always top filling in the same manner described, and have left it sitting about 45 degrees to the side several times and it's not leaked one single drop.

I went ahead and pre-ordered a couple of the black versions as well. I have a feeling the wife will be claiming this one soon.

Sitting on my 'all day mod' that I don't have to charge until I go to bed (2200mah lipo)!

Just to clarify, I do have the wick ring installed, and the juice control ring removed entirely. Here's a pic showing how I just lightly tapped the cotton into the wick ring on top of the channels. Works great for me. :) Just a simple 0.69 single coil Kanthal build @ 30 watts for now:

Put some dual claptons in there today and wicked it with rayon. No leaking and during my experience no dry hits. Abandoned the topfill altogether and just slowly do a bottom fill through the slits.

Clouds are there, flavor is ok.

I'm not loving claptons anymore at the moment in my tanks. Vape just way too hot for the amount of vapor production. Am I doing something wrong or is it just normally a hot vape?

Yeah Clapton's aren't really the best for vapour, however the flavour is superb. I prefer them in RDAs as you're right they can be a hot vape without a lot of airflow!

Good to know
It is the UD Clapton stuff around a 2mm core, perhaps could have managed 2.5 but tried to play it safe with 7 wraps there. Came out to around 0.36 ohm.
I have some Clapton wire I've been waiting on using until I saw some specifics.... Thinking I'm gonna try something a bit bigger than 2mm but not quite 2.5mm....
