Next time you get it apart, check for burrs and file any down (carefully) is all I can offer.

Edit: I've had mine since Oct. and New it was tougher than now, so seems to have worn in some and gotten easier.

Once you have it apart and all cleaned up, just work the top on and off a bunch of times to wear it in some and see how that works out for you, that's another avenue to a possible remedy.

It's really difficult to open the top fill section. I need always a latex glove. Did you have the same problem? Or do you know any trick to open it easy?

mine was hard to open when i first got it and i gently used a small pair of pliers the first few times. the threads must have worn in enough where i can open it with my fingers now.

Yes, but please antoNiOpiraeus put some paper towel around the top first, then the pliers, so the top isn't chewed up too badly (personal experience talking here).

every time I decide I'm in love with the single deck, I build something like this. .16 ohms, 2.4mm, staggered clapton 26/36, hitting it at 80 watts, 3.6 volts, airflow about 25% open. Beast mode! I did fix the gaps in these.

You need to adjust your wicking technique then. I've ran this tank up to 70w with 80% vg, chain vaping, no dry hits, no leaking.
So, am I understanding you correctly when you say to trim the wick even with your placement of the screw-down ring that keeps the "tails" in place? I love this RTA, but I suspect that even with the juice control all the way open I may be making a wrong assumption that the tails of the wick should go all the way to the bottom of the channels. I'm a flavor junky that chains whenever time permits and if you are hitting 70 with 80%VG with no dry hits or leaking, I need to know what you know.

Apologies RAWRferal. I thought getting older was supposed to help with that premature thing, lol. I just got excited about possibly finding the "missing link" to what I suspect is a wicking issue that I posted before I finished reading everything and discovering you have already answered my question. I'm about to try this technique out today.

Anyone ever used eciggity.com? They have this in stock and a couple other things I'd like to get. Thanks everyone for all the info and helping me decide to get this rta!

You betcha. I just hope that everything goes well for you on this as there Was a learning curve for me, coming from the Lemo V1, Lemo Drop, and the Lemo V2 (my only other RTA's). Good Luck. :thumb:
Eciggity.Com ? I've bought quite a few Items from them over the last 2 years, Never had a problem with them in Any Way, Shape, or Form.

If you ever want to buy an ecig product and you see it listed on eciggity, do not, I repeat, do not hesitate to press the button on their site! Those guys are about as good of a vape site as I have ever experienced. Seriously.

This tank... man oh man. I just moved in with roomates. None of them vape or smoke and one has a daughter. So I decide to kick my vapor production down as low as I can stand. I've gone from 50 watts to about 16. First I built an old kayfun 3.1 I had sitting around. Blah... Then I grabbed the old RSBT Hybrid I had sitting around. A little better but eh.. Do I really want to take the cthulhu apart and redo it low wattage? Yea sure, they're easy to build. 1.4 ohm kanthal single coil deck, with my own custom low wattage diy juice and life is alright. Versatility.

So why was it such a learning curve coming from lemo's, which are notoriously ez to wick , to this one? That's exactly where I'm coming from.
Thanks

Sorry for the delay, health reason. The Cthulhu V2 has the Juice Ring (along with the airflow ring) I HAVE to remember to Close First before a refill (or it will leak) and the wick ring is a bit different to deal with ( which I solved for my needs here: Cthulhu RTA V2 (similar posts to the velocity rda) ). It took me awhile to figure the wicking all out, but when I did the Cthulhu V2 became a beautiful thing. My method is very repeatable and works for me. I just started using 2.5mm ID coils (down from 3mm ID) and cut a 4mm to 5mm wide strip of KGD and it still works beautifully ( wicked as above). Some people just take their wick ring completely OFF all together though and wick just like a Lemo with all wick on the deck, I tried it that way and found that sometimes (not all) it would flood (I think I know why). The wicking was the Learning Curve for me and others. If you have ANY problems, the answers in this thread (I know that there's a lot of pages to read and some of that is my fault) should cover most situations. It's not Rocket Science coming from the Lemo's, just different, that's all. If you can learn a Lemo (and some just can't), you can learn this one too, and Lemo (Good Taste in RTA's BTW) is a good place to come from in my opinion.

I have that same problem after about a month of regular use, doesn't seem to be getting any easier to open. For me it seems that the o-ring which seals the top cap is the culprit, because once I get it a turn or two loose, it's just fine. My workaround is a pair of rubber thimbles (the type you see office workers use for sorting thru papers) on my index finger and thumb to get a solid grip on the ring. They're in the school/office supplies section at wal mart, a whole pack of em for a couple bones.

What, you didn't like my bite mark gnurling idea? :)

And ya, still having a tight juice fill ring here myself.
