I found that if you import ecigs through national postal authorities. It gets delayed at customs up t0 twenty eight days. Sometimes being sent back. If you have it sent by courier, it goes through customs in minutes. I had orders sent from China through DHL, to arrive at my door in seven days from shipping notice. Local posta from China Is around $24.00. DHL is around $27.00. The extra money is well spent.

Hey everyone, Well, Ive been drooling over the idea of getting my hands on an e-cig for the past couple months, but the cost was a bit much. I stumbled onto 2 sites one being dinodirect.com out of the states and the other, i believe also from the states called deal extreme. they have the lower quality Health e-cigarettes, but the prices was right. so I grabbed one from dino. ordered a week ago, so am keeping my fingers crossed. anyone have experience with these companies and whether the products got through, quality etc.? Im pretty sure they are drop shipping from china, but they also offer free shipping, so really, the $20 bucks spent on the kit, I dont mind sacrificing a couple times to get one in and try it...dammit Im sick of being an analog smoker, looking in at you guys...err

Hey Llotek, I have a couple of the deal extreme e-cigs (they're a hong kong site) and they're only just okay. Came through customs fine. You're better off paying a bit more and buying within Canada though, there are several sites selling hardware and juice here.

Yes I agree. Good to hear they got through. I just wasn't prepared to spend more than a few dollars on these until I knew I would like this and actually use it to replace my regular cigarettes. With everything I have read recently and most recently the raves about the DO More Eh tobacco flavor, I am quite confident that this will will spur me to buy a better model, available here in Canada, and finally be done with the death sticks. thanks for the help.

Don't waste your time and money with Health e-cigs. You get what you pay for. This product has nothing to do with popular e-cig models. I got one to see what it is. Worked for less than 24 hours. Taste is bad, something like synthetic vanilla. No nicotine. Cartridges leak all the time, very little vapour, dead atomizer on the second day. I am surprised how many people leave positive reviews for this product on dealextreme. Nothing to compare to real e-cigs.

Ya, I was kinda looking into the positive reviews on deal extreme, and they are misleading, as those reviews were also posted on dinodirects e-cigs, and the same reviews not just for that particular brand, but other models too, so someone is just grabbing and pasting, but I did check them out on youtuvbe and and watched videos in other places, and they seem to be ok, but I have a feeling it really is 50/50...i just happen to be watching the videos of the 50% that got decent, functioning units, cause obviously the other 50% wouldnt bother putting a video online for a useless product. well we shall see, when it comes in, but I have decided to buy a more expensive one as well. thanks again for the help

I spent some time looking for a low cost e-cig. As a retailer, the cost savings would be turned into profits and I would be able to undercut the competition. The advantage would apply to multiple units rather than just a single purchase.

End conclusions, it was not worth it. My guess is because the cost it so low for any kit relative to what you get, the only way to reduce the price is to drastically skimp on materials and quality manufacturing.

I can't speak for every discount kit out there, hey maybe some company knows magic and the laws of economics don't apply to them. But its my belief that you are going to waste more money buying trying to find the cheap-o unit that actually works (if its even out there) than you would buying a decent kit to start with.

A good example would be electronics sold at a flea market. They look the same, cost a whole lot less, but they end up breaking within a week and you end up replacing it with the name brand you were going to buy in the 1st place, costing you more and wasting more of your time.

There are about 5 "standard" models that have consistently good reviews. I would stick with them. Save your money by shopping for a retailer who offers the lowest price for the type of service you would like, rather than discount units.

I definitely have to agree with ya, mr evapers.

There are a LOT of toys out there, which are flashy and shiny....and, like kids in a candy store, we gravitate towards them.

Brands like Blu/Volcano are style over substance. Also, the claims that one cart is equal to a pack of analogs drives me crazy.

Agreed. So this is a bit off topic, but you guys know yer stuff, so... As for a generally good product, what would you recommend, Ive been thinking about the M401...im pretty open, as long as its close to the size of an analog and is automatic...maybe also that I dont have to pull too hard on for a drag. Seems like the M401 fits the bill. Im kinda at the point where Ive driven myself insane with researching, now just wanna get one in my mouth so I can stop smoking the crap analogs.

I own a Volcano, a Sidesho, a M401, a 510 and a Kr808....and used em all.

My rankings:

Kr808
510
M401
Sidesho
Volcano

I can't really SLAG the 510 or the M401...they just didn't work for me. Fiddling with carts, dripping and whatnot.

I did find the vapor and throat hit lacking a bit in the M4 series though, which wasn't an issue with the 510.

Chances are you will whip through a couple of models before finding out which works for you anyhow, so dipping your feet in on the cheap is probably wisest.

Cool, good to know. well throat hit will be a big want for me, so maybe my first higher end model will be the k8 or the 501, would hate the disappointment if the M401 didnt pony up, out of the gate. thanks again. you guys rock

So I just got that Health e-cigarette in the mail. well at least shipping was decent, only 11 days, and that was with free shipping from china. I just started charging it about 45 minutes ago. it states that it will charge for 5 hours, before the red light turns green, but I noticed it is already starting to flicker between the 2 colours. so ya, Im sure the battery will be short, but yes, I went ahead and ordered a Happy 306A from happy vaper and also a 30ml bottle of Do More Eh. So I imagine that will be in fairly early next week. Ya I just really want to make the change from analog, and want it to be permanent, so didnt wanna mess around too much, but hopefully the health e-cig will get me through to next week, when the good stuff arrives. Will keep you guys posted.

well ok, so i got up form my last post,, checked the cig and it was charged, put it togetehr, and well, im somewhat impressed, throat hit was there, vapour was good, taste is a bit sweet, but not bad either...obviously different than analog, but was expected. and after about 4 pulls, i got a bit of a head rush. so i guess just have to see how long the unit stay functional for and how long the battery works.

Check this out:
I placed an order with anycig.com in china for 22 bottles of Dunhill E-Juice, to Canada.
Canada customs in Vancouver, BC received the package on Feb 6, 2010. They held it for four days than sent it to Health Canada for advice on what to do with it. The referral request form was dated Feb 10. It was written right on the form that the item was "E-Smoke liquid tobacco". The form was then stamped on Feb 17th by Health Canada with a stamp that read "Reviewed/Examined and recommended for release"

So what's going on here? Is Health Canada against E-cigs for just public appearance and really don't mind that Canadians are using E-Cigs? Maybe they actually care about the health of Canadians like there supposed to. That package BTW, was definitely opened and re-sealed by customs.

I have had about a dozen ecig orders from china come to me through Canada Customs in Vancouver. Most get through same day, and a few get help up for 1-3 weeks. However, every single package has made it too me with nothing missing.

Anyone else has health Canada approve e-juice or hardware orders?

cheers,

Never had problems with hardware. Electronic parts, batteries, empty carts etc. are not restricted items for personal use. I had >10 hardware orders from China by now, all arrived in my mailbox with no comments. Once only got refused e-juice but the description was kind of "eye catching" so supplier refunded the money. I always separate hardware from e-juice. I still prefer to take my chances on $9 per 30ml bottle from China instead of paying 2X or more from local suppliers for the very same thing. :sneaky:

I'd say you are paying 2x more for the very same thing... shipping... but the other way around.

It comes down to is what percent chance do you have of receiving the goods using a given method. My opinion is mailed directly from a supplier in China in the long run you will loose more than you get in. You can win at the Casino, but in the long run...

I like supporting Canadian suppliers, because I believe it's important. Most do an amazing job and they work hard to provide the things we crave.

That being said, I think you are way out of line painting this picture of doom and gloom when it comes to importing from China, and it seems to be an ongoing theme.

I'm not sure what you have experienced, but applying the same likelihoods of seizure for a supplier and a consumer is like comparing apples and watermelons. It's just not the same. What I do know is the end consumer will receive their goods more often then not, and this notion of paying 2x the cost because of shipping is absurd. I guess if you order one 30ml bottle at a time that might be true (actually, it would be around the same if you didn't charge any tax - $18.99 + $8 shipping $26.99CDN vs $9 + $15 shipping = $24USD), but no one orders from China for one bottle. When I order, it's normally 9 or 10 bottles and shipping is between $12 and $15. So even at the high end of shipping, you would be paying $10.50 per 30ml bottle.

So let's work that out. You sell your liquid at $18.99/30ml. Given your free shipping over $100, that would work out to $189.90 plus applicable taxes as I believe you are also in Ontario. That would work out to $212.69CDN versus $105US from China. At todays conversion rate that would be $112.09. So if I decided to purchase my 10 bottles of 30ml liquid from you, it would cost me $100.60CDN more (or $77.81CDN if you didn't charge me tax). Hmmmm, $100.60 worth of value add? If you dropped your prices and stopped trying to scare people into purchasing from you, I would certainly consider buying from you in the future.

On a positive note, we are starting to see some traction on pricing which includes pricing that matches up quite well with the US and even comes close to China. I was recently looking to purchase some bulk attys and found that Happy Vaper's bulk atty discount combined with their 15% discount code works out to around $7.6 CDN per atty. I think I see 10 new attys in my near future :D I have a Prodigy V2 and I can't decide if I want the silver with the narrow gold band or silver with the wide gold band. Maybe I'll just get 5 of each.

I usually order in small quantities 3-5 30ml bottles from China with $6 air-mail shipping. Delivery time is about 2 weeks. In my experience, with proper preparation and right description all orders go through. Local suppliers like to scary people how risky, difficult and expensive is importing from China. This is understandable from their point of view, but for now it is not true.
