I can see how people would be concerned even with the super minis or minis. I was out at a bar a couple weeks ago (before I really started looking into ecigs) when a friend pulled out a 2 piece cigarette style PV and I thought it was one of those "one hitter" pipe things and even asked him what the heck he was doing getting it out in public like that. I was confused and I had even seen those mall kiosks before. I can't blame an officer for thinking something shady is going on sometimes.

This is legal in the state where she lives (and in the state where I live) but not legal in most other states so hopefully I won't bend the rules too much -

My nephew's wife is undergoing chemotherapy and vapes ........ oil to combat nausea and stimulate her appetite. It's not a given that because you have a PV you're vaping nicotine - and I'd guess that some or most cops know this.

edit: I didn't know the censor would block that word. Sorry, mods.

I know what you mean by cops, I was vaping at our Festival this weekend and 2 state cops came up to me and asked me what I was smoking, I preceded to tell them that I don't smoke I vape and then they got a little perturbed looking and so I told them that it was my PV, an NRT, and they started laughing at me and one said "You gotta be kidding" I said "No officer I'm not" and they said well what ever it is it smells pretty darn good and walked away. I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest it was beating so hard and when they walked away I just busted out laughing!

That is quite hilarious. Well at least they enjoyed the flavor you were vaping on :)

I vape everywhere without a second thought. In the car, stores, restaurants, casinos, walking down the street. I have walked passed and sat next to cops at red lights and never had a problem.

You ought to be careful though in Jersey since they changed the anti-smoking laws to include vaping and you could be ticketed and fined for it in a place (restaraunts, stores etc.) where smoking isn't allowed.

Drove through NY, PA, ML, WV, VA, ans NC for 10 hours yesterday vaping a box mod with a madvapes DOD on top of it. That's got to be the most outlandish looking setup around. Not a single problem.

Sounds like a long trip. Glad you made it through hassle-free :)

I try not to vape at redlights my town dies at 9pm and sadly if your out past then chances are driving through town you WILL have 1 or 2 cops ride your .......Worst thing is I work shift work so I'm out and about weird hours of the day and night..

The sad thing is we have to hide a completely legal activity due to ignorance.

I, sadly, was forced to hang for a bit with a shady character from Cali's PB who was quite happy to inform me that there are "special" juices people vape. Obviously, this is not what e-cigs are for, but since people do this you may be pulled over or questioned with some real validity by police officers. I'm posting this so you all know... Leave it to shady scumbags to ruin it for all :(... Just because people on the ECF (like me) are doing the right things does not mean everyone is so don't get mad if officer Bob asks you some questions; you can't tell it's Johnson Creek choc truffle through a car window...
You know, I think that e-cigs are for that. As far as I know, the products that have been developed for that specific e-cig application are only available at dispensaries. That is, places that provide that kind of thing to patients.
So I have no idea why you want to blame something on "shady scumbags" when the reality is that patients who are looking for a healthier way to medicate can now look into these e-cig devices. Sounds like a good thing to me.
Using an e-cig instead of smoking.
That is exactly what e-cigs are for.

And the idea that this means that cops may have some 'validity' in stopping people to find out what is being smoked or whatever they think is going on, well, that's just crazy.
Why do we accept that people who are not obviously a danger, who are not driving strangely or recklessly, should have to pull over and explain what they're smoking (or vaping, as the case may be)?

Maybe if a cop sees someone driving erratically, and notices some strange device being smoked out of, he might get suspicious about a cause and effect relationship, sure, I can see that.
But why should normal-acting people not be able to smoke or vape whatever the hell they want? Why would a normal-acting person be under suspicion of being dangerous, or being a criminal, or whatever the concern is?

Whether the device I'm breathing through looks like a cigarette, or a pipe, or some alien pleasure toy, I do not feel that it lends any validity to the phenomenon of cops being nosy .......
I feel that people in general should reject this type of intrusion into personal business.
It's undignified, and unnecessary, imo.

I vape in public all the time but try not to be obvious about it in the pickup. I am a long-haired tie-dye wearing middle aged dude and get a lot of stares -- but I also pass a buttload of cards out at parties, school functions, and outside stores to people and the fuzz :)laugh:) and demonstrate my GGTS and how it is made. I always also explain mine are special:blush::facepalm: but that there are so many available out there that will help and give out the ECF cards to set them on their way for education.:thumb: It also helps that I only vape dessert juices so I always smell damned good!!!:toast::headbang:

I vape exclusive on my Tekk and while the guys at the office call it my crack pipe, haven't had a second look from anyone. The cops in Utah don't pull anyone over for anything (have seen folks run red lights in front of one with no problem) so the odds they would do anything with a PV is rare.

Seriously? My experience with Utah cops is if you're driving the "wrong" car or look the "wrong" way you get pulled over constantly.

I don’t see it that way.

I think that if a LEO sees someone smoking something in a vehicle that isn’t a cigarette that that does give him the ability to stop the vehicle and determine if it is legal or not legal. I would rather have someone who is using an illegal substance pulled over BEFORE they are driving erratically and crash their car into some innocent bystander.

As to LOE’s being “nosy ......”, who do you call when your house is broken into at 2:30 in the morning by some drug addict who has been driving around looking for a house to rob?
