Last week, a cop at the amusement park saw my Riva and asked what it was. My inner punk wanted to say, "it's my cop puzzler", but I just said, "it's an inhaler." He said, "oh, ok." and walked off looking for some crime to fight. I don't really fit the crack-head profile, and I wasn't acting like I was doing anything wrong, so I think he was just genuinely curious, or that is how it seemed at the time.

I don't care that some people think it looks like drug paraphernalia. I use my DOD kit everywhere especially while driving. It is much safer than trying to drip or fill a carto or tank. Plus the DOD works tremendously and without any hassles.
For the record I have had two people ask me what it was and one of those was a vaper!

I can't count the times someone has asked me if I was hitting some sort of crack pipe or something.

I have a small case that I carry 3ml bottles of juice and spare batteries in. I still have one guy at work who calls it my "paraphernalia bag."

I can just imagine what it's going to be like with my new Bombshell from HotVapes. :glare:

HAHA, was at the bar with my boyfriend and father, had my reo grand and silver bullet put them on our table and ran outside to grab a call (bf was watching my gear) when I came in he was trying to explain to the drunk couple next to us that it wasn't a bomb detonator and they were calling bs when I said it was an ecig. "you dont know what you're inhaling, I'd smoke regular cigarettes over taking that chance!" me - "suit yourself, I'll enjoy my cancerless nicotine, enjoy an early grave!" my dad kinda grumbled at me since it was a regular place that he visits hahaha.

in retrospect I probably could have done without the snob remark but thye were being nosy and annoying which my dad would have said something if I didn't shut them up hahaha

Yeah, all you would need is a few refilling Syringes and a unmarked bottle or two of e-Liquid.

And when the cop asks for your license, hand him one like this...

Hey, I know them...that's right down the road from me!

On a serious note...
Most cops know about the PV.
They might use it as an excuse to get a closer look at you, but most of them probably know what it is.

Unless their local budgets have been so slashed that they no longer get the weekly (or daily) briefings keeping them up to date on things...They get briefed on this kind of stuff regularly, as they don't want to waste their time anymore than we want ours wasted. They don't want to be embarrassed either.

I'm with zoiDman on this one. LEOs can and will stop you if you are doing anything suspicious. Personally, I welcome the opportunity to share the knowledge of PVs with them. People talk about LEOs like they're not human or something. They live, breath, walk and talk just like the rest of us...the difference is that they have a very dangerous job to do which involves confrontation almost constantly.

If you think you'd be any different than they are after a few months on the job, I would offer you...just try it...if you dare. Most people are honestly too unconfrontational to do even a half .... job at law enforcement.

Treat them with respect and 99.9% of them will return that respect with due diligence. Treat them with disrespect, and they're usually practiced enough in the art of confrontation to show you what the word means.

Sorry, I just get tired of mealy-mouthed people acting like they know anything about what it's like being in law enforcement. Yes, there are a couple of jerks in the bunch...but I dare say even more jerks on the other side of the law enforcement fence.

Gonna have to say, 3 times out of 10, whenever I've had to deal with LEOs, I was the one being a jerk, 6 times out of 10 I was just being an idiot...

I vape exclusive on my Tekk and while the guys at the office call it my crack pipe, haven't had a second look from anyone. The cops in Utah don't pull anyone over for anything (have seen folks run red lights in front of one with no problem) so the odds they would do anything with a PV is rare.

Yeah but when they do pull you over they will give you a ticket for 12 over and one for restricting the flow of traffic.

I'd hope cops would be educated on this issue by now. They should be shown different types of PVs and the basic components (battery, atomizer, etc) so they know what to look for. Unfortunately, it seems that is not the case sometimes.

I think it's perfectly understandable to be pulled over for a suspicious looking device (aka PV) but going on and on about what it is seems silly. These guys are supposed to know what they're doing so they need to be kept up to date on things like this. I'm not blaming the officers but the superiors should be working a little harder to get this information out. It's been all over the news and I find it hard to believe that so many of our law enforcement guys have failed to see it, make note, and share it with the people they work with.

Maybe it hass something to do with the fact that a LEO can't tell just what is inside your Carto or Tank Mod without pulling you over and checking your out.

Believe it or not, some people put other things in e-Liquids beside Nicotine. ;)

Yeah, I do think it probably looks very suspicious from afar but picking up the e cig and maybe taking a sniff/peep inside should straighten that out fairly quickly. That's why they need to know more about them. I don't really know how illegal things could be used inside of one but I hope they can't. That is a whole new dilemma for e cig users right there but I think it would be rare at this stage of development.

Personally, I put mine down when I see a cop. I also keep my hand wrapped around it when do I use it. My preference for PG helps too because there is less vapor. I was pulled over and got a speeding ticket and he never knew I was vaping or that I even had an e cig.

The only public place I vape is in my car. I know there are too many people out there who don't know what it is and I don't want to deal with that. They'll figure it out on their own eventually (family, friends, news, etc). The people I do vape in front of have been educated before and do not have a problem with it.

There is so much ignorant fear mongering you're likely to give some poor old lady a heart attack. I swear we just keep getting dumber and dumber. It's just like that movie Idiocracy, possibly a very accurate prediction of our future. =D

flying into Boston from Stuttgart, customs took me in a room and kept asking me if I'd ever been to Portal, North Dakota. If i ever run into that Roach from Portal I'll give him whatfor.

This made me roll on the floor!!

I have had hotel security in 3 different hotels in 3 different states!! Stop me, ask my name, then tell me I look like someone who gave them a lot of trouble recently.

I've vowed that should I ever encounter someone who looks just like I in a hotel, the first thing I'm doing is breaking his nose for causing me such inconvenience.

I can't go into details, but I will say that I have heard of a DHS case where a child was taken from a home because of a different situation, but DHS did find an e-cig in the home that they siezed and said they found a "one-hitter" that was used for illegal purposes. From what I understand, this person was a grandmother trying to do right by her grandkids by taking them out of a home that would otherwise have gotten them taken into state custody. Apparently it didn't matter anyway. Just thought I'd let you guys know though. Might've just been the DHS person who assumed that we all use them for such things and not a cop who should know better. Would make the DHS person sound a lot better in their report if they found paraphanalia in grandma's house who hadn't had anything bad previously. Anything they can do to get more children out of our homes and into state custody so they can get even more money.
