Did you quit or do you still smoke a few?

It's been a little over two months since my last real cigarette. I took my last puff of a cig on December 31st at 11:59. I must have been the only one on earth to ever think about stopping smoking on New Year's Eve, hahahaha. :p

I'm just wondering if people are using e-cigs to completely quit smoking or just to reduce the amount of cigarettes they smoke. I'm sure I'll get answers from both sides but I want to hear the reasons why and how they're doing it. I've seen people who stop smoking a pack a day to smoking only one cig a week, but that's not me.

You see, I'm an all or nothing kind of guy. I've quit several times before with other alternatives to smoking, like the gum and patch; but every time I decided to just smoke one cig, I'd be running to the store afterwards to buy my own pack. The funny thing was that I always found a reason to go back to smoking. Oh no, I have an exam...I better smoke. Oh no, my car broke down and I'm stressed out...I better smoke.

I will say this, I am VERY satisfied with vaping. I haven't had the desire to smoke a cig since after the first week of quitting and I'm certainly not trying to find a way for myself to have that "occasional cigarette" and still use an e-cig. I just want to gauge other peoples' perception of either fully quitting cigarettes or having that occasional smoke.

I smoke 4 cigs a day, each one when I take the dogs out. They're MYO (make-your-own), so they last longer than commercial cigs.
I did order some atty's & drip tips & cartos & other goodies, that arrived today. If I can find a method that gives me 10-12minutes of vaping, then I need to come in to refill, I think I can put the cigs down for good.

I started vaping Feb. 25th, 2011 and haven't had an analog yet. I actually still have the last pack I bought with 10 cigs still in it am am planning on giving it away. I haven't even had the urge to smoke one. I've found a few liquids that I really enjoy and I'm getting everything I liked from analogs so I don't see a reason to go back. I really wanted to quit but just couldn't seem to give up those "key" cigs that were such a part of my day. Sort of gave up thinking I'd ever be able to quit and was getting pretty ...... at myself about it. I decided to look into ecigs figuring I'd have nothing to lose by seeing if they worked or not. There's so much misinformation and scams out there! Luckily I found this forum and read the experiences other people have with them, researched different models and with advice from members I decided to give it a shot. After that first puff of vapor I was sold in it and knew I could quit. I've been in such a good mood too, not a crabby short fused beast like I have been other times I tried to quit. I've spent a good chunk of change picking up the items I felt I needed to be "set up" for vaping, trying different attys and carts to figure out what I like to use and picking up a good sized selection of liquids to try. It's pretty easy to pick up flavors on a whim just to see what they are like but I figure that after I settle down on sampling and get comfy with a few flavors I'll just buy larger quantities of those favorites. The cash doesn't really matter right now because I'll break even and start saving after a short time when compared to what I'd be spending on analogs.

I'm loving it!

I smoked for 25 years and quit smoking on the second day of vaping (only had 2 cigs the night my kit arrived and 1 the next morning). Then last July I was camping out and all my batteries died so I smoked a pack during the last two days of the trip. They taste weird and gave me a headache.

Now, I know that I can smoke one if I HAVE to but I would really prefer to vape instead. I just don't prefer cigs anymore. I've never used a product that made me feel nothing one way or the other for cigarettes. Everything I've tried before was like having to live with your one true love while they date other people (I don't know if any of you have been in that situation, it's horrible, a lot like quitting smoking).

Rosa, your analogy actually reminds me of what a lot of people told me before I finally quit. Quite a few people told me that quitting smoking was like losing a best friend. One even went into more detail. He told me that it was like saying goodbye to his best friend. It's just that his best friend abused him often and made him sick. He knew that he had to get rid of his friend cuz it was killing him, but he thinks about his friend and misses him everyday.

It scared the *bleep* out of me. Thank God for e-cigs!

My kit came in the mail 1-21-11 and I put the batteries on charge. I woke up 1-22-11, had a couple of smokes then said "OK lets give this a try". I put my half pack of cigarettes and zippo in the cabinet I always kept my smokes in, on top of 2 unopened packs. They are still sitting there. I haven't wanted one yet. I still reach for my zippo occasionally when I pick up the e-cig, I'm trying to figure that one out.

I had tried a different type of ecig (the type that looks like a real one) since early January, but since those types suck for battery life I found myself going back to regular smokes. Then on Feb 9th I got my ego kit and stopped lighting up right then and there. Never once did I feel the need to again, but the habit of having to hang my head out the window to smoke was still sort of there so once in a while I'd use my ego the same way I would smoke - as in going to my smoking window.

I use to smoke a pack a day for 27 years and failed miserably when I tried to quit a few times before. This is the ONLY thing that worked.

I have had a few since i stopped on August 11, 2010... mostly because of running out of juice or a dead battery... this however has not deterred me from vaping. Thing is that if I do had an analog it tastes like crap , and then i smell like an ash tray!!! I Just bought a ReoMini from Reo's Mods. I hope having a bottom feeder with a spare battery in pocket can help... I hate analogs!!!
