It just depends on how you do it, once you find the stuff you like, it can be alot cheaper. Unless you always go chasing for the next big thing or are a real horder, you should save money. I used to spent around 200€ a month on cigarettes at least. I told myself, after my first month. I'll spend max 100€. I use an ego-c usb, 2x ego-c tiwst, ego-t usb, evic, with vivi novas, have an aga-t2, phoenix rba, an ufo and a vision eternity. There is alot of stuff that is looking good, can I buy it ; yes I can, do I need something more ... no not really.

I jsut depends on your habits and curiosity, if you always are trying out new flavors/juices, you will end up "break-even". But what is break-even ? Even if this would be more expensive, I prefer vaping. I a I have made up my mind. I feel better. So I don't care. I just stick to my pre target of this is the max. If you have this set goal, then this should not be too hard

In a van ............down by the river
By not smoking, I am saving my LIFE.

I'll do the math later, but $6 a day times 90 days equals $540, and I haven't spent anywhere near that much on vape supplies.
And I've most likely amassed more than a months worth of juice.

If you're new, get some posts, get verified, and then get into some co-ops.
Kanger T3 heads for 80 cents.
An AGA-T2 for $14.
A Prive tank for less than $15.
Cartos...all kinds of stuff.

I will likely spend more than I did as a smoker, and that's even if don't get all crazy with modding and stuff (I really have no idea how deeply I will end up going down this rabbit hole!)

But that's because I am a hand-roller, smoking anywhere from 8 to 16 cigs a day depending on stress, drinking, etc. I tend to smoke half of one at a time, so they stretch out. I only spend around $40 a month on tobacco and papers.

But honestly, I don't care. It is so worth it. If I am healthier and happier and it costs me an extra $10 or $15 a month it is worth it.

Btw, I don't even have a PV yet, my starter kit is hopefully being shipped today, so I really have no idea what I am talking about at this point. But all these success stories make me very optimistic. I am so glad I found this place before I got started spending money.

Well I can't speak for other people but I'm definately not saving money--or at least not right now (maybe later down the road in the health costs I won't have). But one has to take into consideration that in comparison to smoking a pipe, you buy a pipe it lasts for years, and a zippo you buy that once and it lasts for years and buying the cheapest pipe tobacco at 20 bucks a pound. I'm not saving anything. I went from a 25 buck a month habit to a 60 buck a month habit.

That said, were I smoking even budget cigarettes, I'd be saving money--about 10-15 bucks a month.

However, for me the primary benefit is not economic...it is my improved health, my old lady's improved health (from not breathing in my second hand smoke) and the fact that I can taste food better (thats important for a chef) and can smell things better too (also important for a chef).

So I would say that vaping is expensive, but honestly thats okay. Everyone needs to have something that they spend money on just for themselves. And honestly vaping is less hazardous than smoking not only for the direct user, but for those who are around the direct user.

In the beginning we spent quite a bit trying lots of new and exciting things. It was fine- we could swing it, and it was a hobby that we both enjoyed. Now, almost 2 years in we don't spend much of anything. It costs us about $300 a year to vape (I do DIY my juice, but DH buys his), and I'd spend that a month on stinkies.

Yeah the old lady was complaining to me about the expense recently. I told her that I thought it was primarily because I was in the still collecting hardware phase. That said I do buy my juices, and if I only had to buy juice I'd be at 40 dollars a month...which is cheaper than budget cigarettes.

Also since she never smoked, and has no desire to vape, I don't think she really gets it that she is trying to compare the very cheapest way to smoke with a more or less standard vaping expense. Eventually though I expect that my expenses will decrease as I get more comfortable DIYing juice. Then the main expenses will be toppers and batteries (both of which seem to last me a while). Heck I vape pretty heavily and I have two month old CE4s.

That's the basic question after having a conversation with my mom who also vapes and said after her batteries die she's done with vaping (with smoking too)...which isn't hard to understand considering all of the mods and apvs we've seen, but what do you guys think...is it time to stop touting the saving money claim and just admit that it can be expensive but that's ok?

It is cheaper in the long run....unless you like collecting numerous mods like myself...
For a beginmer....Let say you buy a Provari w/ext cap-AW batteries-Pila Charger...
Thats about $250 for a great setup....
I go thru about $20 of juice and a fresh HH357 $25 atty= $45 a month....
$45 x 12 = $540 plus a new set of batteries $25 = $565 a year not including the cost of the mod...
The added health benefits are where the savings come into play:)

I don't really look at the money side of vaping. I'm not smoking 2 packs of analogs a day anymore. At the rate I was smoking I think it would have been cheaper in the long run because of a shorter life expectancy. I love vaping but it is expensive. I'm a gadget guy so all this stuff is very cool and addictive. My wife thinks I'm nuts but she likes the fact that I'm not smoking analogs anymore. I'm sure thar eventually I'll have enough vaping stuff to satisfy me. Not!

I was smoking 1.5 to 2 packs a day when I quit, and that was before the Price of Cigs skyrocketed. I think I was paying $3.50 to $4 bucks a pack or $30 a carton and that definitely added up. Obviously, if you vape a ton, you can end up spending a bit, but I think it also depends on your equipment. I'm using a Hitman (t-rex) kit with rebuild-able Clearomizers. My cost with liquid, is about $15 -20 a week. But that's with picking up mixer bottles and a few concentrates a week too. My starter kit was only $60 with two E-cigs a few replacement cores, charger and case. I'm saving a ton of money in comparison.

Pretty much on the same page as Old_Gregg above me. Not really a money thing for me, I just wanted off the cigs and I have been, ever since I started vaping.
However, when I add up the money I've spent (what I can remember spending money on anyway) on ecigs, compared to what I would've spent on cigarettes in the same timespan, I've saved something like 750 USD, so it's still a nice little bonus :)

My biggest factor for quitting analogs was due to price after all the tax hikes. My monthly analong use ranged anywhere from 2 1/2 cartons to 3 cartons. I usually bought 3 cartons to be safe. Before the tax hikes I was paying about 90 dollars a month for 3 cartons, then after the tax hikes I went to the store and the price got to around 150, Thats almost double the price. I said this is the last 3 cartons I will smoke, then I will quit. I eventually learned about the Personal Vaporizers and was stunned at the price difference. So far I have only spent maybe $60.00 dollars, 30 dollars for my quick start kit with Vision 2 Clearomizer (looks like ce5) with ego-t battery and charger and case and free bottle of 15ml juice. I spent about $20 dollars on enjuice from ecblends and then bought some replacement heads/Coils with wicks. Thats just for the first month so far and I still have quite a bit of ejuice left. I don't vape all day, rather I vape maybe every half hour, a few big puffs and I am set.

In the end, I am saving a gigantic amount of money. I can second what others say about people splurging on new toys (batteries, tanks, clearomizers, top shelf ejuice). I myself am on a budget so I can only spend so little. I do plan to save up to buy a new setup where I can adjust voltage and get a more expensive clearomizer, tank so that I can rebuild on my own. Now that I know how to install coils I will save even more and will be able to avoid buying replacement heads. Its too easy to spend money to have someone else do it and you pay for that.

I am a happy vapor. :)

I'm definitely not saving money at this point. But I've only been vaping for about 4 months and I was just like a kid in a candy store. Even now. I smoked a pack a day which totals out to a little over $200/month here in Cali. I spent 200 trying different juices alone I think last month lol. And then there are the different clearos, cartos, attys. but now that I'm settling on a few juices and set up, I will probably be saving a lot pretty soon.
