Hi Everyone,

In order to try and resolve the diacetyl disclosure debate, a bunch of forum members have requested that a letter go to e-juice manufacturers. Instead, some of us thought that perhaps the letter could just be posted as a sticky in the Supplier forum. I think it would be good to see what the real level of concern is among ECF forum members. So this thread will serve as a poll of sorts. Since I don’t know how to make a real poll…just simply reply yes you agree this letter should be a sticky or no you don’t think this is necessary.

The intent of this letter is simply to encourage suppliers to comply with a simple request. Let us know if your e-juices have trace amounts of diacetyl or not. This is not a request for ECF to make an official stand regarding Diacetyl, nor is it a demand for suppliers to change their formula. This is not a place to debate the merits of the letter content, or diacetyl or a particular vendor. This is simply a request to agree to the letter being a sticky or disagree. If you agree, simply say I agree and then move on. If there are any issues you’d like to voice, PM me or start a new thread. Let’s try to keep this on to a simple yes or no.

Dear Suppliers,

There is concern in among some in the ECF Customer community about diacetyl being used in e-liquids. There is also concern about what chemicals can be used as substitutes. Many people have looked at what little data there is available and have decided that it is probably safe to keep using the liquids with diacetyl, but as ECF member consumers, we request you to, at a minimum, disclose which of your premixes and/or flavors contain diacetyl, and at most a full ingredients list available on your websites. At this time the proportions of other ingredients are not in question, so no trade secrets should be compromised. This request can be fulfilled by simply posting on your website or order page which e-liquids contain flavors with trace amounts of diacetyl. Disclosing the information mentioned above will ensure that customers have a choice and can exercise the choice to vape yummy flavors with or without diacetyl at their discretion.

Sincerely,
(ecf forum users who buy your yummy juices)

Many e-juice manufactures do disclose this information already. For those that do, thank you.

As modest as this request is, it could be a problem for vendors who merely rebottle and resell juice procured from their suppliers; in such cases, they could be asked to divulge who that supplier is.

I'm not in the this-is-much-ado-about-nothing camp, although there's been too much ado around here about not nearly enough. Having said that, I personally don't see harm in this.

Sorry, but I disagree.

For one, if it's posted in the Suppliers Forum, what about the suppliers and manufacturers who are members that do not frequent that forum? They won't see it. When the ECF makes a statement to the suppliers registered here about the diacetyl situation, it would be done in a forum that will reach the majority of them, but that non-supplier members do not have access to.

Sorry if the response you got from me via PM was not what you wanted to hear. But this really isn't the way to go about things.

No worries Angus, I'm just doing what I think is right. If there is a better way to be able to ask suppliers to disclose, I'm all ears. I am new here, and just trying stem the debate and to communicate the desire of ECF consumers to know whether they are vaping diacetyl or not to ECF Suppliers. I know that most suppliers are aware of it because of the last few days. However, I don't think that this is too much to ask and I do think it will allow customers to feel that they have been heard on this subject.
