Yep, I've heard, "So, when are you gonna quit those ?" "You're just switching from one addiction to another" "They have chemicals in them too, y'know." When I say that the chemicals are food grade safe, one non-smoker just laughed and said "That means NOTHING. You're INHALING it, not eating it, so "food grade" is a stupid comparison. Water is good to drink, try inhaling it."

I got to admit; good point....

@chadsmo

You handled it better than I would've it sounds like...major pet peeve is people asserting that my facts are incorrect when I know otherwise.

Yeah after a few min of me telling him the facts I just walked away. It was very frustrating to say the least. Not worth getting super bent out of shape over though.

I love the "if they sound too good to be true, they probably are" part
Science should not start off with a "this is probably bad" mindset because you'll unconsciously contaminate the testing
Science should have a "let's see what happens" mindset

Ask him if he's ever been somewhere that used a fog machine. If he says 'yes', tell him he was inhaling the same stuff we are, sans nicotine

Ironically, I did !!

His response ? "Nice try. You breathe in highly diluted "fog" for maybe two hours at a concert or nightclub. You're breathing in that crap full strength constantly all day long. Drink one shot of whisky, no problem. Drink the whole bottle, you die."

BTW, he lives for arguing....

No need to "one up" the person in an argument. Seems like he's going to believe what he wants to believe, and no amount of persuasion will change his mind. With these people, it's best to ignore them and not feed the troll.

Never argue with a fool. Onlookers may not be able to tell the difference.

or, conversely,

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience.

On the few occasions I've run into, I state that "ignorance is NOT bliss" this has been with people who seem to be arrogant.

As to anyone I personally know, I simply educate them and tell them to use google if they need more info. I've now converted 8 people to Vapeing in 7 weeks. This has to be a record lol.

I absolutely do not let people's prejudices bother me. I'll usually say how it's a more healthy alternative to smoking, and tell them how my wife and I were able to walk away from a 45-year habit immediately. I'll also mention how much money we're saving. If they're still sniffy with their nose in the air - like my neighbor who likes to say she quit cold turkey but actually spent $300 on hypnosis - it's fine, I don't care. Most folks react positively.

From what I've heard, a strong-enough will cannot be hypnotized. Or was that telepathy? Or, wait... maybe it was the Jedi Mind Trick.

Either way, I'd give about .01 cents worth of credit to a "hypnotist". They're better off in comedy clubs than clinics.

Then again, my uncle claimed it worked for him.

I'm still not convinced, though.

"you might not be smoking, but it's the image of it"

To this, I would point to ---> tumblr_m0wo5b99n11r1p4nmo1_500.jpg

Now be honest. Honest. Would he look half as cool without the cig?

So I get it. Smoking, at certain times, especially when a youth, can look not only cool, but super awesome heartthrob cool.

The "cool" factor is wearing off these days.

EDIT: Or this guy... one of my favorite authors... I always loved this caricature:
