There are studies that show nicotine can reduce the risk of Alzheimer's, depression and a few other diseases. Not to mention that it can also improve cognitive skills. So, I think I am going to need to see proof that vaping caries a higher risk of something bad happening than something good happening for me to quit completely. Why give up the potential benefits if there is no real reason to?

For those looking to decrease their nic levels, it's probably easier to do it gradually...

If you don't DIY where you can precisely control the level, then slowly introduce a lower-nic, so you have bottles of both going at once

Maybe use the lower-nic at night prior to bed

And you can always mix a 12mg & a 6mg at 50/50, for example, to get 9mg...

So if I have a bottle of 12mg and a bottle of 0mg would I just mix 50/50 to get 6mg?

I really never thought I'd quit smoking & I can honestly say I didn't want to quit either. I don't see myself ever quitting vaping. Smoking was my one vice & I enjoy vaping more than I ever enjoyed smoking. I think it's wonderful that so many people set & stick to the goal of cutting back until they eventually stop vaping all together but that was never my plan. My goal was to reduce the risks associated with smoking by either cutting back on cigarettes or switching completely to vaping so I'd have to say that my plan/goal was successful.

I smoked cigs for over 20 years, starting at a pretty young age, so the habit was really ingrained in me. I tried numerous times, numerous methods, and only bought an ecig to help crankiness while traveling on my honeymoon. I immediately liked the vape, and when the honeymoon was over, so was my pack an a half day habit. I still can't believe it. I've slowly gone from 24mg to 12. Hearing nic might help with depression... Maybe I'll go back up. I've also gone from 10-15 beers a night to a six pack on the weekends. I've "given up" enough for now! But, in the last few days I've been coughing again.... Maybe the wrong flavor? Anyway. I'm having a lot of fun with DIY juice and if fast tech ever delivers my mods and RBAs I think I'll have fun building coils too. I also go to sleep at night planning future mod builds in my head. (Just haven't ordered my 510 connectors yet!)
Maybe I'll stop at some point, but I'm so happy to be off the stinks and have a new thing to tinker with and possibly a new artistic medium in mod building.... I don't care right now. Thanks for the link to CASAA site for whoever posted it. Too easy for my lazy self not to join now!
Happy vaping, peeps! For as long and with as much nic as you like!

Will real world do? Father in law smoked as teenager up until around 40 when he quit smoking. He smoked cigars for at least 15 of the years I have been married to his daughter. Had the beginning stages of Alzheimer before age 70. Now is the advanced stages,

I do not put much stock in the study. Yes, I forwarded the study to my wife a few months ago. Alzheimers for their part is genetic. Coconut milk is also supposed to reduce the risk of Alhzeimers.

Can reduce and will reduce.... 2 very different words.

Considering you have other scientists saying smoking doubles the chance of developing it. Now I realize the difference between smoking and nicotine. Some though use them interchangeably.

Smoking doubles risk of developing Alzheimer's, scientists claim | Health | News | Daily Express

Basically these studies are the 15th century snake oil salesman in the 21st century. Instead of going after your money directly, they are hitting our tax $ in the form of grants.

I understand that there is a difference between reduces risk and eliminates risk. I also understand that there are some differing opinions in some cases/studies. More definitely needs to be done to further our understanding. I did see an urgent need to quit smoking...50+ carcinogens is plenty of reason. However I currently see no urgent need to quit vaping.

and a lot of those chemicals are in the e-liquid flavors.
That's funny. Taco Bell and Doritos teamed up to make an amazing new taco.... Just imagine if they harnessed that flavor power...and somehow put it into a juice! Wow! A vape that could give you nicotine, indigestion, and gas, in one easy to vape juice!!!

I've dropped my nic levels from 18 to 12, so far.
I guess you could wean off to zero nic and then nothing.
But quite frankly, I'm happy where I am. Maybe I'll go lower someday, maybe not.
Even if there is some damage we haven't found, empirical evidence suggests it's almost certainly much less than regular cigarettes.
I like having a 'bad' habit it my life. It's a reminder I'm actually alive, not a braindead anti-everything person.

But I don't mean to discourage OP or potential nic quitters. By all means, it's possible to eventualy wean off, I'm sure. But like all cessation, it takes a certain amount of willpower and dedication. That's all :D

My goal was improved health and lower costs. Those goals have been reached. I never actually intended to quit smoking but it was a natural, for the most part, progression with more and more vaping. Thus, I can't say with any certainty what the future holds. I won't know for sure if I'll ever quit vaping unless I try which I have no desire to do right now.

Same here.
