My experiment was with some 510 tanks. I got them today but they looked like I needed a syringe to fill them. I'd pop off the top, remove the polyfill and there was another plastic partition with a tiny hole in it. I assumed I needed a syringe but didn't want to order one so I tried to fill them up without one! I lost a couple tanks and a small amount of e-liquid but hey I'm a noob that's why I ordered 8 tanks and a little more e-liquid (Melon). I searched high and low, locally, but only found out that I couldn't buy even a disposable syringe without proof of diabetes or an Rx! So....I went back to you tube but couldn't find a video saying how to fill the tank w/o a syringe. While I was doing this I had out my third tank and took a toothpick and tried to pry loose the offending partition. It popped right out! I filled my tank, reassembled it, and am vaping some more cappaccino right now. Remember those two old sayings, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again." -King Ethelred the Unready

I got a syringe with my CE2's and use it with my Fluxomizers as well. Makes it very easy.

This is a great thread! I've just been vaping for a week and although I haven't completely cut out the analogs yet, my last pack lasted all week instead of just 1 day, so I'm pretty happy with that. A co-worker gave me a card from a local shop, so I made my first purchase from there. They strongly suggested going with an eGo-T over the ones which look like a regular cigarette, so I got the eGo-T starter kit, which I do like a lot, so far. They also let me sample several flavors at the store, which was nice because I knew I would like it before purchasing a bottle.

I was a little uncomfortable at first, using something which didn't look like a normal cigarette, so I also ordered a joye 510 starter kit, including a PCC, from online, along with another bottle of juice (which I found I don't really like). I definitely like the eGo over the smaller 510 - it's smoother and quieter, and just a better experience overall.

I'm only into this for about $130 so far, so I'm feeling that it has been a worthwhile investment, and will probably hit the local shop this weekend for a case and some more juice.

Moondragon, You should post a similar thread with what you have experienced thus far. You are light years ahead of many of those who have picked up a disposable or "trial offer" somewhere. I originally posted this thread because we forget so easily how hard something is when we first do it.

Keep that juice you don't like right now, after a couple of weeks to steep you might be surprised how good it tastes. And, those "not so good tasting" juices become great back up supplies. : )

I'm in L.A. - where is this store you are visiting?

Thanks!

Experiment 2: I found this video on youtube "510 Beginner's Tutorial" by HzG8rGrl.

It shows a method of using your empty carts (that come with a starter kit ) and using Fluval aquarium filter material (I bought Fluval Water Polishing Pads @ Petsmart) as a filler so you can use, reuse, and use again those empties by replacing the polyfill material. I'm vaping with my first self filled cart some coconut e-liquid. Excellent taste and voluminous vapor! Experiment 2 is successful. I will be using this method to sample new and sample e-liquids so if I don't like it I can just replace (or wash) the Fluval and start all over again without throwing away the cart. Let me know what you guys think.

Right from the beginning:

•DON'T UNDERSPEND
•DON'T UNDERESTIMATE
•DON'T UNDERSTOCK

•DO GET THE BEST PERSONAL VAPE SYSTEM
•DO EXPECT EXPECT TO QUIT ANALOGS - FOREVER
•DO PURCHASE MORE THAN ENOUGH FROM THE BEGINNING
I generally agree with this across the board... and politely disagree.

DON'T UNDERSPEND - I am fortunate enough for this not to be an issue, but it certainly is a concern for most. Consider it like analogs - if you buy the cheap generic brand, you get... a cheap generic brand.

My POV was 3 fold:
1. My starter kit is a once on 3 or 4 year purchase, and when it dies out there will be something much better on the market, or there will be some copy cats. There was no reason for me to make a once every 3 or 4 year purchase a financial concern.
2. I considered the cost of analogs I was hoping to replace - suddenly a few hundred bucks didn't mean anything - electronic cigarettes are even cheaper than the Ukrainian Marlboro's I was getting on the internet for $27 (come and get me coppers!).
3. There are health concerns - a few extra bucks to get off the carcinogens of analogs is a good trade off.

DON'T UNDERSTOCK Realistically, when you start you aren't going to know the strength and flavor for yourself - there is no 1 size fits all. I purchased an extra set of cartridges in a variety of flavors and strengths with my original purchase.

DO GET THE BEST PERSONAL VAPE SYSTEM The hard part is finding the best system when you start. My needs (Field Service Engineer in manufacturing) is far different than someone in an office or home settings. My needs as an over a pack a day analog smoker requires concerns different than someone who smoked 4 or 5 cigarettes a day. My needs as someone who is just quitting analogs is different than those of someone who has been using vapes for a longer time, and I already plan to change flavors after I have been off analogs for a while - but that doesn't negate my current needs.

Look at it this way - you probably changed brands, size, and/or strengths several times as an analog smoker - why would electronic cigarettes be different?
Google for Comparisons You will find sites where several smokers with different tastes and preferences compare dozens of models. You can compare your needs with their reviews and ratings to narrow down the list.

DO EXPECT EXPECT TO QUIT ANALOGS - FOREVER I certainly agree with this now, but wouldn't have when I 1st started looking - the reviews on the internet were good, some reports from friends and co-workers (who used cheap brands) weren't.

I did consider this - even if I didn't quit, I would get good use out of an electronic cigarette when flying, in bars and restaurants, etc. so quitting analogs wasn't a requirement to make it worthwhile - it was just a target and benefit.

DO PURCHASE MORE THAN ENOUGH FROM THE BEGINNING Since I wasn't really certain, I did have a few days where I mixed in analogs until my replacement order came. This was probably a good thing - the cartridges I ordered were a level up in strength than I expected.

Look at options to save My brand offers an affiliate program - 20% with a $70 startup see - if I had joined initially, I would have already be over $20 in th black. I now plan to do just for my purchases and offer it to others - I will scrape 5% off the top and refund them 15% - but I am still out the $90+ I could have already.

With all due respect, I had to chuckle a little at this. Please check back with us in 3 or 4 years and tell us how many years ago you got rid of, or semi-retired, that starter kit.

I started with a Joye 510 kit, a reasonable starter kit with all the dumb things that newbies think they need. Looks like an analog, an LED at the tip, tobacco flavored carts, pre-filled cartos, a PCC. The only newbie blunder I skipped was an automatic battery.
I was satisfied with it for about a month before I got a Bullet. That lasted almost 2 years before I got a Lavatube. Before that, I got a Mr. Puffer, but didn't really like it much so I never used it. If I had been able to afford it, I'd have gotten a lot more PV's. Within 3 months of starting, I wouldn't dream of buying prefilled carts or cartos. I think I'm probably pretty typical, except I skipped the step where I buy an eGo, or Riva before going on to a high quality mod like the Baby Bullet.

I don't know what you got as your starter, but unless you got something really good, if you're still using it more than occasionally a year from now, you'll be in a very small minority. The rest of your post is pretty good. I agree with most of it.

LOL - my starter kit lasted a week. I then bought a silver bullet, tanks, and attys and have been very happy. I'd be impressed if your starter kit lasts you more than 4 months let alone 4 years.

I started this thread just after receiving my Pig Cig (650mAh) eGo type PV. I had tried a cheap cigarette like "Trial Offer" that was $4.95, but was going to cost me a hundred bucks after the first week. It wasn't any good and I returned it and figured eCigs were not for me. Fortunately I saw a Blu disposable in Walgreens and gave it one last shot. I probably could have quit and kept vaping on those disposables, but hey are $10 each and last one day! So, I took another shot and ordered the Pig Cig. I was amazed at how well it worked, thus the posting of this thread.

I really don't think you and I are saying different things. Just different ways. : )

Cheers!

I just switched to dual coil echo & it is almost too powerful. I'm getting a "smokers cough" since switching. Time to adjust my juice or vaping habits. Can't go back to single coil, cause it was too tame for me.

Try the CE2's. I get a dry hit from the EMDCC's. CE2's very moist and full.

Not being concerned with cost (and becoming an affiliate for the 20% discount) I went with the White Cloud Cirrus 3x.

Over a month and am still quite happy with it.

The time span (3 to 4 years) is based on the battery life expectancy - the 2 year warranty allows for battery replacement inside the 1st 2 years.

Transportation was key to meeting my needs.
