Very nice post-

I'm giving this bit to my husband-

DON'T UNDERSPEND
DON'T UNDERESTIMATE
DON'T UNDERSTOCK
DO GET THE BEST PERSONAL vape SYSTEM
DO EXPECT EXPECT TO QUIT ANALOGS - FOREVER
DO PURCHASE MORE THAN ENOUGH FROM THE BEGINNING

Giving this to my wife ;) Although she is starting to understand why I have spent so much to start... she is sick of hearing me talk about vaping ;)

One last addition. Don't look at this like any other quit, it's not the same and the old rules do not apply here. Look at it like a change of brands "at first" :) Any time an addict is facing loosing his/her drug of choice it causes huge amounts of anxiety, frustration and fear. There is NO need to do this to yourself anymore! Be KIND and UNderstanding to yourself. If you feel your DYING and can't do it any longer have that smoke and the next time the craving hits vape first......You will most likely find cigs disgusting and you WILL lose your taste for them...

OP, great post!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can attest to this as well. I have looked at it this way.... I want to REDUCE my usage of analogs and just see if I like this whole vaping thing first. Maybe even find a juice that I absolutely LOVE first...then maybe TRY going without analogs..

Well Im still looking for that LOVE juice...I think Im close with Halo Malibu, but not 100% sold on it.

Yesterady....had 6 analogs. My normal smoke level of analogs....30 cigs a day!!!! So Im down to 6 cigs without even breaking a sweat!

That's some pretty good advice right there.
I would like to add this nugget of "advice"...if you buy something that doesn't work for you...don't think of it as money wasted and don't kick yourself over it. Learn from it and find something that does work for you and remember that there is no money wasted when improving your life.

Also...what works for others does not always work for you. That especially applies to juice.

Happy vaping!

This brought a smile to my face....and a tear to my eye. Exactly how my sister approached life, and probably how she would have become a Vapor, but she passed away from lung cancer a few years before vaping happened. : ) : (

Indeed. Here's my story: smoked for almost 20 years, 40+ cigs a day. Occasional ventures into pipe smoking territory, loved latakia, hated flavored tabaccos, totally lacked the patience. Hardly any serious thought about quitting.

One day a coworker started sucking on this pen thingie instead of smoking. Weird, even a bit ridiculous amidst all the smokers, but you know--he did seem to actually enjoy it. Read up on it and... well, it's just artificial flavors, so it's of course not for me, but still... had to try.

Eventually bought an ego-t starter kit. Felt a bit expensive at the time, but bad gear isn't going to give me an untainted impression, right? Liked it and decided to just vape whenever I felt like it. In other words: a lot. After a while, I learned about cartos and dripping, which were supposedly even better and thus ordered a couple dual coils and a "dripping atomizer" (LR 306) along with the next plethora of juices. Whoa. Nice. Still, not trying--nor wanting--to quit, just having fun with something new, that's all. A lot of fun. All day.

A few weeks ago, my analogue at work tasted just awful. Just... very very nasty. Squashed it, vaped, didn't smoke the rest of the day. Nor any day after that.

If I had set out with the intent to quit, I probably would have failed miserably. I just let it happen and despite being more expensive right now (well, there were these recent... *cough*... shopping incidents with the mark-t and her provari...) it never felt like I was actually missing something. :)

Well put.
My positive reinforcement:Got a load of stuff so I don't ever run out. 303 days w/o smoking analogs. Comes out to $3.49 per day. I WAS spending $20.55 a day and SMOKING TOBACCO.
At this time I could go a month and a half w/o making an order -actually much longer because I have the materials to make 5-6 ozs of juice if I had to.
I didn't buy it all at one time. 2 $60 orders- the rest were all $15-$30 at a time.

Consider that before vaping- I failed everytime I tried to quit and I was miserable in every attempt.

from my limited experiance i would say jump in.. Spend two weeks of cig money and buy a good system.
I started on a totally wicked 510t. I won't knock it because it is what actually got me off the cigs, but in a lot of ways it was wasted money.
In less than a week i ended up spending money on a big batt mod, at day ten i bought a tank.. And here i sit.

It doesn't 'need' to look like a cig.
It doesn't have to be tobacco flavored.

It does need to be easy to use.
It does need to have the capacity in juice and batt to keep you from constantly messing with it.

Thats just two cents from a guy very new to vaping but very succefully killing out the 'craves'.

great sage advise...

Been on analogs for years and the addiction is so bad that even when my nose or tougue gets numb, i will smoke on.. At times when it gets worse or get sick, i'll just smoke half a stick and just throw it away. At this rate i think, i spend about 200 bucks a month.

Been toying with the thought of vaping after reading about the potential benifits. Costs aside it would "save" me alot on the long term.. After all "HEALTH IS WEALTH"...

I'll add as a newb myself .. most if not all juices are mixed When Ordered, SO just because you hate a juice when you get it, don't judge it on that alone, let it sit and the flavors combine for awhile 2-4 weeks even. Often folks find it greatly improves with time (makes sense when you consider some juices have several flavorings added- it takes time for that to work).

I can't imagine any smokers who can't afford an e-go or kgo starter kit, if you smoke 1/2 pack per day and smokes cost you $5 pack (average cost US) get some samples from different vendors and Hang On it's an awesome ride!

Very good advice, and something it took me a long time and a lot of wasted money to learn.

Back when I started, there wasn't much talk about steeping.
I bought a lot of the most popular flavors from the most popular vendors and ended up giving them away.
A lot of those might have been a whole lot better had I let them steep.

So now I am going back and trying some of them again, and finding that many of them do get much better with time.
Unfortunately, since I got rid of all of them, I have to buy them all over again to try them again.
:(

I'm not posting from any vast experience doing this, I am only about a week and a half into using them, but why does everyone say you have to spend a lot of money doing this?

I mean..you can if you want to and down the road I will probably upgrade, but for now I am pretty content with my 14 dollar kit from Walmart and spending 3 bucks for 5 cartridges when I run out.

I do plan on ordering fluid next week and I just got some needles from a friend for refilling, but even that was cheap.

I mean, if you are making this a hobby and want to dump money into it then that's totally cool. But for me cheap is working, and to say you have to spend a bunch of money to get started is probably not right and might even deter some people who are looking into it.

How much per day of what type of cigarettes did you smoke?

Because with a $14 kit you are going to have batteries that won't last very long before needing a recharge.
A heavy smoker might get only an hour or two out of such batteries.

And 5 cartridges might last a heavy smoker about a day, and probably much less, depending on how much juice they hold.
If they hold at most 0.5ml like most small cartridges, then 5 per day might not even be enough for an average smoker.

I smoked between 1/2 to a pack a day. The initial battery charge lasted me about 2 days, and 2 cartridges lasted around a week. I use the e-cig more frenquently but for not as long as a regular cigarette, so I guess my success with this is a result of my nicotine demand and smoking habits.

Still one could buy 2 $14 kits and alternate with charging, then if you refill the cartridges yourself you are paying the same as with a more expensive kit.

AGAIN I am just making some observations at a beginner's perspective. To each his own. I do like a lot of the neat stuff there is out there and I look forward to playing around with what suits me best.
