One last addition. Don't look at this like any other quit, it's not the same and the old rules do not apply here. Look at it like a change of brands "at first" :) Any time an addict is facing loosing his/her drug of choice it causes huge amounts of anxiety, frustration and fear. There is NO need to do this to yourself anymore! Be KIND and UNderstanding to yourself. If you feel your DYING and can't do it any longer have that smoke and the next time the craving hits vape first......You will most likely find cigs disgusting and you WILL lose your taste for them...

OP, great post!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a really good point. I've been vaping steady for about a month now. I tried to smoke an analog on my way to work this morning and gagged until I almost lost my breakfast halfway though. I won't say I never sneak out for one, but I am always sorry I have. Before long I think I'll be tossing my leftover analogs altogether.

And on the note about buying a good PV, DEFINITELY DO THIS! I wasted $40 buying a crappy gas station ecig and prefilled cartos. It was terrible so I thought vaping wasn't for me. Until a lady at work let me try her rig and juices! I immediately went out and spent $100 getting two PV starter kits, and another $50 getting juice samples and different kinds of cartos, tanks etc. I then had to spend another $50 buying juices for a month that I liked. Altogether about $200- my normal cigarette cash for a month. But from here on out, I only need the $50 for juice and $10-$20 on cartos depending on how much I want to change them out! Less than half what I spent smoking. So consider your first month a normal smoking cash amount. The savings really start after that!

Yep, the note about not buying 30ml bottles to sample is spot on. Fortunately, I haven't made that mistake, yet. : o lol

Sort of looked at that like buying a carton of a brand of cigs you never tried. Even more so since there are soooo many flavors for eCigs. One man's Chocolate Rum is probably another woman's yuk, I'm guessing. However, as newbies we should not hesitate to spend the $30 or $40 to purchase a really nice sampler pack. Maybe even a couple.

I love this:

Yep, yep and YEP. Either vaping will keep you from cigs or cigs will keep you from vaping...or just not giving vaping a chance to work. Cuz, this stuff works. : )

Also, for the people who DID buy the 30 ml flavors (or any other size) that they hate, check out the PIF boards, the classifieds, the swaps. Trade em, sell em, swap em, but for gods sake, don't throw them away!!! ;) Someone out there thinks that flavor is awesome, and might just have a flavor you'd like to try. Happy vaping, and Happy New Year, y'all!!

Referring to the large bottles of juice that are a flavor miss . . . I think this is where the "hobby" part comes in for me. I'm not all that interested in the hardware as long as it's working, but definitely enjoy mixing the juices. Why watch "Top Chef" on TV when I can be in my kitchen being a "Top Mixer"? I measure using my syringe and keep my recipes written down. A 5ml bottle of vg flavor can make a big difference in several not-so-great large bottles. I haven't even purchased a drip tip yet for tasting. I'll give a new mix a trial run with about a half cart of juice and then either adjust or mark it a winner.

I am enjoying the Pig Cig I ended up with...seems to work well for me as a new moderate vapor...anyone else use it? And, do you think it is a good "starter" kit?
I think the Pig Cig is an Ego/Riva/Tornado battery equivalent but made for the KR808D-1 threading.
I seem to remember it was the first such battery made, and was soon joined by the Elegant Easy model.

I don't recall hearing anything bad about the Pig Cig, but I might remember people liking the Elegant Easy more.
Or maybe I have that backwards.
:)

I don't recall hearing of any other fat-battery models for the KR808D-1 other than those two.
But I don't use KR808D-1 equipment, and haven't been hanging out in the New Members forum lately, so I may have missed some.

I jumped in! But after a month realized I was still in the shallow end when it came to buying supplies and refill liquid and such. Ended up running out and now I've learned my lesson after a day going back to the stink sticks for my nic. It was horrible and I was very dissapointed in myself. BUT I got my supplies and the smokes went in the trash! I'm going to look at upgrading from my kr808 batts :) Thanks for the Do's and Don't list :) Even if not everyone agreed, it gets you thinking about how to prepare so you aren't stuck in a "stinky" situation!

Great post. I just ordered my first "real kit" last night from LF. Riva 510SE, 510 pump carts, Drip-O-Mizer , drip tip, and 4 10ml juice of various strengths (on clearance) all for $60. I wanted to get a variety of things to try and see what I like. This should be a step up from my Npro 2N1. :)

We owe it to ourselves and loved ones! Splurge...spend what ever it takes, I say. : )

Just received my refill juices, today. Was down to my last "tobacco" cartomizer - that was a flavor I didn't order - I like menthol. Was vaping the tobacco flavor for 4 days! To me that flavor tastes like a cup of tea with 5 spoons of sugar in it. Yuk! Don't know if I could have made it another day with that flavor, but always had the Blu menthol back-up option, if needed.

I didn't do any analogs while waiting for my menthol refills. I'm on day NINE and loving it. : ))

Indeed. Here's my story: smoked for almost 20 years, 40+ cigs a day. Occasional ventures into pipe smoking territory, loved latakia, hated flavored tabaccos, totally lacked the patience. Hardly any serious thought about quitting.

One day a coworker started sucking on this pen thingie instead of smoking. Weird, even a bit ridiculous amidst all the smokers, but you know--he did seem to actually enjoy it. Read up on it and... well, it's just artificial flavors, so it's of course not for me, but still... had to try.

Eventually bought an ego-t starter kit. Felt a bit expensive at the time, but bad gear isn't going to give me an untainted impression, right? Liked it and decided to just vape whenever I felt like it. In other words: a lot. After a while, I learned about cartos and dripping, which were supposedly even better and thus ordered a couple dual coils and a "dripping atomizer" (LR 306) along with the next plethora of juices. Whoa. Nice. Still, not trying--nor wanting--to quit, just having fun with something new, that's all. A lot of fun. All day.

A few weeks ago, my analogue at work tasted just awful. Just... very very nasty. Squashed it, vaped, didn't smoke the rest of the day. Nor any day after that.

If I had set out with the intent to quit, I probably would have failed miserably. I just let it happen and despite being more expensive right now (well, there were these recent... *cough*... shopping incidents with the mark-t and her provari...) it never felt like I was actually missing something. :)
