Stick it on a mad vapes vv box. No error codes, works every time. My gripper gives Lo warning all the time with this atty, the MV box doesn't.You could also try about 8 wraps of 32g kanthal and see if that works. If it does please let us know,I'm too lazy to re-wrap it.

8 wraps didn't work.

I'll attempt to get a thicker wick going.

An addition of even 1 single wrap/coil should make a notable change in resistance. if you are adding more and more wrapps and the resistance continues to stay the same then this points to a short somewhere.

Think about it,

Let's say, for examples sake, that you have a short at the take body and the wick and you wrap 6 coils and get 1.8ohms....so you ad a couple more wraps and expect to see 2-2.2ohm but still see 1.8ohms. This would indicate the possibility that the same short still exists.

This is why I like that cotton layer method. I wrap the cotton on the wick all the way to where it enters the tank and eliminates there areas where shorts mostly occur.

Also, if not using the cotton method, when making these coil changes and tries it can further disrupt the "oxidation layer" on the wick making shorts even easier to happen. Might need to re-oxidize if you make a couple of attempts that don't work. The oxidized layer on the SS is pretty good but it is still a fragile layer on top of the SS so some care needs to be taken when working with it.

Keep goin man, you'll get it....:thumb:

just did a lil experiment/speed and "ease of build" test: traditional oxidized wick vs. cotton method(blugrasslover method)

Tests performed on my bliSS (used same method on my DuD tho) with 34g nichrome with a 4/5 wrap. target resistance is 2.2ohms

Traditional oxidize with just SS wick and coil:
took about 15min to oxidize wick, wrap coil, dry burn, tweak coil for shorts, fix hot spots, get even glow, assemble, fix new hot spot while slowly bringing up the voltage. Vapes taste and wick awesome

Cotton method:
took about 1 min to wrap cotton on wick, wrap coil, juice the wick (don't wanna dry burn cotton), test fire, no coil tweaks, all coils making even vapor, assemble. able to go up to target voltage almost immediately. vapes taste and wick awesome

Although the traditional oxidation only works well, I would rather just get to vapin than spend time and worry bumpin coils around and hoping that it stays solid.

enjoy and vape on!! :vapor::pervy::headbang::thumb::toast:

My gripper reads 1.0 ohm,my multimeter reads 1.1 ohms.I just screwed the clone on an old 3.7v torpedo w/18650 high drain panisonic battery. It works perfectly. The gripper still won't work.I'm betting it's the chip.

I drilled a bigger wick hole, use a thicker wick, and my last coil was 2.9 with kanthal 32. don't remember how many coils but it was too many for it to last. I find the fewer coils I have, the fewer problems I run into. maybe I will just make a u-shaped coil next Lol.

Please check your PMs.

I just got 3.63 ohms with 8 wraps 32 a1 kanthal.

Experimental! 100mesh (yes 100mesh/149micron mesh :2cool:, 400 mesh is 37micron for reference) bluegrasslovers style cotton wick wrap.

WARNING:This stuff is so thick it can cut your fingers badly so use gloves for safety, especially getting the rolling started/crease part. (if you go full on stupid like me :p )

Thank you, tattooed for inspiring me to go 8 wraps :vapor: & spraintz for his solution suggestion that got me to finally use the bluegrasslovers wick trick as I tried & was getting frustrated @ many failed attempts to get this thick mesh to oxidize, worked like a charm. "The Merv" egg I bought, finally hatched into "The Griffin" I was sold. Now providing me my best vapes yet, out of this little gizmo.

Back with ya now, got my DUD yesterday, The wire thatcame with mine blows, but I set it up with some 33G kanthal a1, and it is hitting like a freight train. Had alittle trouble with the set up initially for some odd reason, but all is well now. I need to backtrack and read this thread when I get time, looks from first glance like we got some monster moddin' going on. Awesome!

Note: Madvapes 10ml syringe(BD, thought it would be Excel) is a lil too small. I had to mill out the ends on my ghetto-fabulous lathe (fake dremel on it's side with grinding wheel ;)) PITA but it worked. will be ordering ideal instruments next:
