just did a lil experiment/speed and "ease of build" test: traditional oxidized wick vs. cotton method(blugrasslover method)
Tests performed on my bliSS (used same method on my DuD tho) with 34g nichrome with a 4/5 wrap. target resistance is 2.2ohms
Traditional oxidize with just SS wick and coil:
took about 15min to oxidize wick, wrap coil, dry burn, tweak coil for shorts, fix hot spots, get even glow, assemble, fix new hot spot while slowly bringing up the voltage. Vapes taste and wick awesome
Cotton method:
took about 1 min to wrap cotton on wick, wrap coil, juice the wick (don't wanna dry burn cotton), test fire, no coil tweaks, all coils making even vapor, assemble. able to go up to target voltage almost immediately. vapes taste and wick awesome
Although the traditional oxidation only works well, I would rather just get to vapin than spend time and worry bumpin coils around and hoping that it stays solid.
enjoy and vape on!!
