On the edge of insanity..
Still unsure of the fix, was it the bit about rolling more wick? Or eliminating the negative post?

I really want to get into this but picking up a tank and carto and just going is seeming so much better at the moment.

And thanks for the help, I really do appreciate it.
I think it might be more of your coil shorting against the wick?

Im about to call it quits with this thing. My V1 Provari just errors constantly. I've made a dozen coils and none end up high enough resistance to not end up E2ing on me. The highest I can get with 32g kanthal is 1.6 ohm and that's if I'm lucky. Is there anything I can try to get the resistance up?
that why I sprung for the $20 upgrade my v2 provaris could handle the DID but my v1s just couldn't it seemed like I was getting nothing but E1, E2 and E8 errors

So as I've been continuing to use and tinker with my DUD (and my friend's), I've noticed the coil separating from the wick. I'd heard about this happening with the nichrome wire, but is the kanthal really a lot better in that regard? I know some people also think it gives a smoother flavor, but right now I'm more interested in being able to wrap a coil and not have to worry about re wrapping it later as it stretches out.

Are you heating the wire red a few times before wrapping?

Mind explaining how you get it such high resistance?

I drilled a bigger wick hole, use a thicker wick, and my last coil was 2.9 with kanthal 32. don't remember how many coils but it was too many for it to last. I find the fewer coils I have, the fewer problems I run into. maybe I will just make a u-shaped coil next Lol.

I recieved my DUD and overall its great for the price.

I have had it a week and was having problems getting my mesh oxidized. I even went out and bought a Butane torch.

My biggest issue is the airhole is on the opposite side of where it should be! I have to loosen the top cap to line it up. Im thinking about plugging the hole and drilling a new one.

I would also really like to have a clear tank so I can tell how much juice I have. It sucks not knowing how much is in there.

Tonight I am going to try the method a rolling a tiny bit of cotton fibers around the wick to see if I can fix my short problem.

I will not give up!!!

Dude, that cotton thing should get you all fixed up. I do it on all mine and it just makes life so much easier;) It really haelps with the shorts.

The top coil hotspot is almost always related to shorts. If you try to think of what happens to the electricity current when a short is present then it makes perfect sense as to why the top coil does this. Using NR wire will help reduce the effect of the top coil hotspot but it won't fix a short. Check the cotton thing out it will help if not eliminate yer shorting woes.

keep at it, see you on the other side....

Stick it on a Mad vapes vv box. No error codes, works every time. My gripper gives Lo warning all the time with this atty, the MV box doesn't.You could also try about 8 wraps of 32g kanthal and see if that works. If it does please let us know,I'm too lazy to re-wrap it.
