can you tell me where to find the ptb directions ..in #4..I have looked and can't find it....I will book mark it....need to look at it again....

When I did mine I found a formula I like: take a quarter piece of PTB (take the long piece you showed and cut it in half, then cut that piece in half again). Then I folded it in half twice. The last step was to take that piece and fold it into thirds (if you fold it in half it's too thick). What you end up with is a small rectangular piece that fits snug but still goes in pretty easy. It felt "perfect".

And the Zero Defect Hero Prefects have done a GREAT job on the Sportsters and FLHs. (CE2 R1-3 and XLs)
Banjo said it: That's why we're here. You guys would be modding or fiddling with any shortcoming in equipment not just cartomisers, nothing is perfect and you guys have ideas and this keeps you off the streets.
Zoid said "the masses" aren't ready to go thru the hassle and they aren't: I can't get my wife to wipe the black slime off the connectors so the atty will work; again that's what she has me for. I LOVE this stuff and like "going through the hassle" and applying my better ideas and yours. Thanks, guys.

Hey Br looks like we have some things in common , I'm a A&P too , new avatar is one of many planes we have owned over the years , my father had a 32 plane crop duster operation . Still waiting on my order of XL's and more . Picked up some XL's from COV , they worked OK but not great , put in bad's PTB mod and now they work great .
It appears that we do have some things in common, Big Daddy. How were you involved and where was your dad's operation?

I got started with them in 1955. It was all Stearman stuff then and we were still converting a few of them for P&W 985 engines. I did a lot of modifying during this time. The last approved STC was for the Engine and prop of this one:

Most of my flying was on Rice in SE Texas, but I worked all over the country. I was shooting for 20,000 hours, but due to failing eyesight, I only logged 18,801 hours.

all that knowledge br yet 2 months later you still havent fixed the e2 for us. LAME

taking apart a plane engine, no problem, fixing the e2 so we can all be happy, thats a issue.
It's your fault. Every time I come up with something, you send me something else to try.

I can fix mine for me to use, but I cannot manufacture that fix for everyone else. But then, if they would quit changing these things with half vast ideas, maybe I could come up with something that someone else could manufacture.

And you ain't trying to help me none, either. I keep wanting to know how well the material for an early E2 mouthpiece holds up for a filler ring when used by various users, and you ain't got nothing but PTB on the brain. LAME

So all you E2 masters out there I am in need of assistance. So I have one I performed the "brother" ptb mod on and it worked great. That said the liquid gunked the crap out of the coils. So much I get a burned taste now. I soaked it over night and dry burned the dookie out of it and even tried to scrape it off with a nail. Nothing worked. Any other ideas on how to clean the coil? Coincidentally without the PTB I do not get the gunk build up probably because I am not burning the same amount of juice.

not sure guitrman, the juice i use gunks up but burns off pretty easily without any brushing after a dry burn, have you tried to poke the living hell out of it through the coil and through the wick to loosen and prying the coils apart a tad with a sewing needle before dry burning it to loosen up the coil area and gunk.

and yes the brother ptb mod will eat juice which might cause faster gunking, but dam , each long drag is freaking amazing, full of body and rich in taste and caves the chest in .

Almost sounds like r2; deep mouthpiece, no middle ring. Is the filler ring hard plastic?
No. It's soft like the the last ones I received from COV a week or so ago. The only difference I can easily distinguish with the filler cap/ ring seems to be slightly larger filler holes. This order came direct from MicroCig shipped on 9/9/10.

Is your juice a "gunker upper" in general? If a soak and a dry burn won't take it off I don't know what to tell you (well, except maybe find another juice...hehe).

If it makes you feel any better, I have to clean and burn my XL's after two fills.

I mixed up a batch of 6mg juice this morning and have been using it in the XL all day. I still get a slight buzz if I hit too often.

slightly but to get at the issue the slits or something else needs to be done which they said they have and we shall know soon.
i feel the inner plug restricts the draw, and that can easily be solved by making the center hole larger.

i also noticed that doing the above and stabbing the coil area with a sewing needle makes it work better after its been gunked up a while, fluffing the wick always helps.

Ok so after further inspection all the coils had fuzed together. They were clean but just burning the juice instantly. Not to bad that was the first e2 I had opened and used it everyday. Average of 3 refills a day and a bunch of dry burns every two days. I would have to look but I think it has been well over a month of use. I abused it by pulling the fill cap out and shoving it back in many times. Never leaked and I eventually ptb'd it. No complaints

Do you mean like these new inner caps that i got in my e2's yesterday.????
These filler rings show some promise. If the larger holes for the needle do not leak, a lot of people will like them better.

Other than the slots for the wick, these things look just like the underside of a mouthpiece. Where did THAT idea came from?

I wasn't in all that favor for slots in these rings, but now that I think about it, maybe they can be used to an advantage. If a carto is one that leaks, then maybe the ring can be rotated so that the slot is not over the wick. I hate to make guesses. I wish I was more like Spock. Guesses are not his nature.
