510 XL and I have no bloody idea. Got them from AwesomeVapor.com
Though I remember a post where you said the newer R4s were slightly...smaller? Or bigger? Than other revisions....

the chances are its a semi r4 if its the 510xl, take a tooth pic and slide it down the side of the cup on the outside of the cup, if you feel the new sleeve then its a r4 if not then its not, and most likely its still 2.5 or 2.6 which will still give you issues at 3.7

and if you have a tooth pick or some thing and long, run it down along the outside of the cup, if it doesnt snag against the new seal then its the one in the pic which isnt a full r4, if you hit a snag(the rubber sleeve) then its a R4.

this is a R4 , u see the rubber sleave almost at the slits, youll feel this sleeve if its A R4

if you ran it down and it didnt snag like u said then its not the full R4 and most likely not 3.0 ohm

Ugh.....I swear....someone slap me. Back to cutting up my PTB....Boo

check your pm's

plain and simple and i let them know, 2.4 ,2.5, 2.6 and maybe 2.7, are just not the ohms that we need, you can still get your hot vapor at 2.8 on a 3.7 but 2.9,3.0 and 3.1 and 3.2 perform as they should and those ohms seem to be what the e2 needs to be at with the majority of the devices we use.

Unless you dont mind adding ptb, then the lower ohms are fine, or if you have a variable device then the same applies.

I have just my Chuck for the minute. I have a Buzz on order, if I'm lucky it'll be shipped tomorrow. Sold my BigBro and they were working great on it. Just mad as hell I wasted money and didn't get what I thought I would. I still have a couple of the older ceramics I could have lived with until the REAL R4 were out.

Thanks, but the story gets a bit more amazing. Back in 1960, my daughter had open heart surgery. This was about the time that Dr. Cooley was just becoming famous. She is now one of the world's longest living people with this type of surgery. So, I am very proud of my ladies.

Congratulations and best regards to your ladies and to you. You've been through a lot, haven't you?

What happened to your Little Sister, and how could you break up the family like that?? :p

p.s. G_C, where did you order your Buzz from?

I've got fifteen of the v3.5 510XL cartos and have an two eGo (650mah) batteries, a 1300mah 510/eGo battery and regular 510 batteries.

I can't get a decent vape from these things. I get 2 drags then burnt taste.

I've been following this thread since the 'dark ages' and I think I've tried most things.

I've tried our ptb here Australia but it's different to yours. Just regular tea bag material.
Blue foam pieces sold here are too tiny, as are the black foam mod. They won't reach much more than 1/3 the way to the bottom of the carto.

I've used the original cup plug right side up and upside down. With a larger hole and as standard.
I've used the middle tapered plug, right side up and upside down. With a larger hole and as standard.
I've used it with only the mouth plug.
I've used it with no plugs at all, and tail-piped it. Burnt my lips on the third drag.
I've used regular untouched wicks. I've cut wicks off at the cup. I've cut the wicks loops. I've tried all the above with variations with these wicks.
I've tried all variations with all my batteries.
I've tried 11 different juices, PG and PG/VG mix of various ratios. They come from China and the U.S. Also tried local juice with no nicotine. I've also mixed my own.
The first two drags after the ecig has been standing are normally sensational. Then a slight burnt taste. Then a stronger burnt taste. Leave it for 1 minute, still burnt. Leave it for 5 minutes, one or two more decent drags.
Repeat.

What else can I use to make it wick better, considering I don't have access to regular ptb.

I really would like some help, as I'm at a loss as to what to try next.

I got desperate and cleaned my old regular carto's.

Thanks badkolo for the denture tabs idea. I did that, then soaked them in baby bottle sterilizing solution (milton), flushed with water, reversed Taryn spin, then bicycle pump dried.
Put all but one into a container with rice. Filled up that one. It taste pretty flat after the e2's, but at least I can take 10 or 12 quick drags if I want.

My mum (83) has been visiting and watched me do all this today. Plus the filling with the hypodermic needle. She wasn't too impressed I think ;) Said it seemed like a lot of trouble to go through and I explained that it shouldn't be this difficult, just having teething problems. She said the amount of time I'd wasted playing around with these today I probably should take them to the Dentist. Nice one Mum.

Without PTB I think you're in for an uphill fight. My best suggestion is to get a variable mod of some kind and "dial down" the voltage. Not the cheapest solution but it works.
