A small word of Warning on these E2 cartos...

A friend of mine emailed me to say that he just got some E2 510 XL's from e-liquid.cn. He filled the first one and everything seemed good. But he wanted to do a side by side taste test with flavors that he had already in regular cartos. So he filled a second E2 510 XL and went to screw it onto his eGo.

He said that the threads seemed a little tight so he gave the carto a little more force to start it on his Janty eGo battery. Bad call. The threads on the carto broke off leaving pieces wedged in the battery threads and the carto.

After 20 minutes of picking metal out of the battery threads and chasing them with a regular 510 carto he was able to save the battery.

He also told me that out of the first E2 510 XL 5 pack, another carto had mis-cut threads on it and would not go on his eGo. The lead thread was broken and the rest were poorly shaped.

So you might want to be cautious when threading these E2 cartos into your PV for the first time. And If they don't thread in normally, I would use extreme caution with them.

Either that or pick up a metric die and chase the treads yourself. 7mm-x-.5mm ?

Thats odd, I used and tested over 40 on my egos, rivas, aND HELLO'S AND NOTHING LIKE THAT EVER HAPPENED.

I haven't had this problem either? I did however have that one XL with the bent threads? It screwed on pretty easily, just wouldn't fire the carto. Took me a bit to figure out what was going on. I am guessing, because of the indentation, the connection was lost?

You can use a nail file on that one and file down the outer ring to expose the inner pin more.

I'll give some observations based on a limited amount of time vaping on the new XL 510 units.

To be sure, they are a marked improvement over the previous (plastic cup, 808D-1) version that I received. The vapor output and vapor "consistency" (thickness/heaviness) is improved and the generation is more consistent over the lifespan of the refill. They are, IMHO, "better" right now than any other cartoizer that I have tried... but not quite up to the experience that I can get with a juice-fed atomizer (or dripping). Please note that I'm setting the bar pretty high.

There are certainly ongoing opportunities for improvement. I think that (on most of the units) they are winding the coil too tightly around the wick (still). A little judicious "needle work" on the coil can often result in a fairly dramatic improvement in vapor output and consistency... meaning that there is room there for "factory improvement". I also think that the filling mechanism is pretty much an abomination. It would be very easy to reconfigure this design so that the cartomizer could be filled externally, through a port, using a standard e-liquid bottle (similar to the way I fill the Super TorneGo II). With some "clever" engineering this could be incorporated with virtually no impact on the base manufacturing cost.

As an aside, I currently run the XL with the top O-ring removed. I feel the wick replenishes a bit better this way, but the unit will have less leak resistance if left inverted or on its side. Not a problem for me personally. I also use a modified 901 whistle tip cart as a mouthpiece (as others use drip-tips).

That is a big praise when it comes form you scottbee.

Yes there are little things that still need to be adjusted but overall the positives for me outway the negatives and there is no going back for me.

im glad your liking them scott.

so the verdict on the XL is that its useable on HV? can i take this stuff apart? i wanna stick one of these into a pill fob so that it can hold lots more liquid.

the 3.0 ohm e2 works very well at 5volts and 6 volts but some of the xl 510;s are at 2.6 ohm for some odd reason while some are higher ohms, so not sure if the lower 2.5 or 2.6 ohm e2 will be good at 6volts but you can try it.

Doesn’t seem that odd to me.

I’d say in the Mad production Rush to bring these E2 Rev”?” to market that production Quality might have fallen off in some cases. As someone who has worked in manufacturing, I know what happens to quality when production goes to 24-7 to meet quotas and machinery and operators are pushed to their limits. Quality tends to take a backseat to production quantities.

I saw the same issue with one of the 5 E2 510 non-ceramic cartos that a member sent me. I also had one that the thread height was almost none existent and the carto was held into the battery by less then one turn.

I would keep your eye on the cartos you have and if you do get another carto with a funky thread, be very careful with it. Cartos are cheaper than batteries.

Zoid, sorry if i came off like im doubting you, im sure some have a thread issue, i even stated i had some which wouldnt fire because of thread issues, im not having this issue now as much as i did with older versions and i never ran into the exact issue you described but that doesnt mean it wont happen.

your right about manufacturing, anything can happen when they start going crazy.

Scottbee, the SuperTorneGo II are the atomizers, right? I haven't seen an eGo cartomizer that could be refilled without a syringe.

XL 510 units--are you talking about those that have filler in them, like the traditonal cartos? WordupEcig had them for sale for a brief moment. Are there two different versions of the XLs? With and without the filler? I'm so confused. Thanks.

Katya he is talking about the new E2 xl from royal smoker, he has tried the newest ones with ceramics and seems to like it better then the old filler cartos.

not sure if you tired the old revisions but the newer ones with ceramics are a major improvement, if youd like a sample pm me

OK, so what were the E2 XLs sold by WordupEcig? Jeffrey says they have filler (see post #3).

I don't think he got my question entirely. He came on this thread w/ reply #1 on the quoted one. It seems like they do have/had the ceramics but said to fill them 2ml, which means they must be the XL ceramic versions. In reply #3 he also says 808 Ego, I think he meant 510..

i ordered some from wordup and the description was:
Cartomizers-5B |Cartomizers: 510 Black: Empty
so you guys think that these are the XL? that'd be awesome!

did you just now order? because he is sold out. he said he would not have any more for about a week. if it said 510 black empty then you are probably getting regular filler cartos. when he had them, it said e2 in the drop down.

I agree, there does seem to be some room for improvement. Something I noticed was also in the area of refilling.

If the seal that covers the ceramic cup had beveled edges in it’s inside diameter, it would go on and come the ceramic cup off much easier. The non-ceramic cartos had a hard plastic seal with the same dimensions. When it was replaced after refilling via side dripping, it snap into place nicely.

But now that the cup is ceramic and no flexible, they had to do to a flexible seal on the cup. This is more difficult to replace because of the square corners in the inside diameter of the seal. Since the ceramic cup can drift around a bit, replacing the flexible seal does always go on straight.

A simple design change to the flexible seal would solve this with no adverse effects. In fact, It might assist in the assembly of the cartos during manufacturing

Zoid, sorry if i came off like im doubting you, im sure some have a thread issue, i even stated i had some which wouldnt fire because of thread issues, im not having this issue now as much as i did with older versions and i never ran into the exact issue you described but that doesnt mean it wont happen.

I problem bad. I didn’t take it one way or another.

My friend came over to my house and I’m holding the carto with the bad thread in hand right now. He also found 2 more cartos out of his order of 30 with FUBAR threads. I’ve seen threads like this Many times and the reason is always the same. Dull cutting tools on a machine with too high of a feed rate. The exact things that happens when a manufacture tries to get more parts per hour than is possible holding a reasonable quality control statistic.

I also notice something somewhat Disturbing on these E2 cartos that might have been mentioned by other members.

Most of the cartos we have looked at have a pale Blue, Vicious Fluid on the seals. It appears to be some type of lubricate which was used in assembly of the seals into the cartos. On some of the cartos, it appears that some of this pale blue liquid has gotten onto the wick material.

Members have mentioned bad tastes on the first couple of hits. I would say that they have vaped whatever this pale blue liquid is.

I have never seen PG or VG with a blue tint to it. I also do not see a need for “primer” fluid if the wick can not burn.

One member mentioned that it might be on the atomizer wire to prevent rust. But that doesn’t make any sense either because NiChrome will not for Iron Oxides. NiChrome has too much Chromium present and it will form Chromium Oxides. Perhaps you can ask your associates at Royal Smokers exactly what this fluid is?

I would suggest that Anyone trying these E2 cartos wash them in Hot water Before using them for the first time.
