Not trying to dispute what you say at all. But I'm getting such good vapor right now with the wick intact that I see no reason to mess with a good thing. I may change my mind though and try it just for grins. How do we know when when we have achieved too much vapor?:p
Great that you are getting good vapor, and i don't see a dispute:laugh:, by rolling the PTB into a tube all I was trying to do was keep it from leaking while keeping the vapor the same as if i didn't have the inner plug pressed in. The tubular shape helps keep it in place to isolate leaks and keep it from drying out to fast. This was just a variation on what others have done that I wasn't getting to work just right for me was all.

All the best,
Wing

The definition of to much vapor must be 2 E2's with my ptb mod on a double barrel silver bullet. even though im getting close with just one e2.lol

Judging from what I've seen done in other parts of the forum (modding-wise), nothing will surprise me. Wait until the 7.4v boys get ahold of these and start making videos.

edit: Gonna take a break. My chest hurts (lol).

its the coolest thing br that your wife vapes as well, any dude here with a wife or girl that vapes chills in my book, mine looks at me like im a junkie when i vape.

I get the same thing from the wife Bad, she prefers a "real" cig to a "fake" one, LOL, Our only dispute is that I feel that I should have the same amount to spend as she spends on smokes($180.00/month smoking VS average of $60.00/month vaping), she feels that the savings from my vaping helps finance her ability to smoke

If you're using enough PTB you really don't need the filler ring. You can just use the middle ring flat side down and just pull it to drip fill from the bottle.

Correct me if I'm wrong. But doesn't the filler ring Also keep the cup on center? And the cup is attached to the center pole of at the battery connector of the carto.

It would seem that is the cup got all the way to one side or the other that this might cause the center pole on the battery connector to make contact with the outside threads of the carto.

Doesn't that spell Dead Short? And doesn't Dead Short spell Dead Battery? And doesn't Dead Battery spell Unhappy vaper?

The filler ring does keep the cup centered, but if you pack an equal amount of PTB snugly between the cup and the carto wall at the slots the cup's not going to move. Mine doesn't, anyway...

zoid im moving one around that i cut and if i just move it around a little like the same amount of space while in the chamber I did not see it move enough or touch the wall--like you mentioned could happen, not saying it isnt possible just saying it doesnt seem to touch the sides at the connector form the little movement that could happen with the cup in the e2.

but some have slightly dented connectors making 2 sides almost touch the center pin, on those that could be an issue . so far we havent heard anyone with this issue you mentioned so i guess thats good

lemme ask a dumb question:
how does it wick? is it suction or the heat that brings the liquid to the coil?

It works by capillary action, just like an old kerosene lamp. However, the old lamp wicks were made out of cotton, which wicks a lot better than the modern high temperature stuff.

I just finished a blind test on my same 3 XL's using a stock 510 mega battery. The results were exactly the same: The stock carto was the worst of the bunch, bad's mod had the most flavor and vapor, and my mod was the "in-between" one.

The stock carto was "ok" until I compared it to the other two. PTB really seems to help bring out the taste.

So Walmart sells polyfill to stuff pillows with, but they also have polyester pads like these, they are real thin and they're in the crafts dept. I'm using them on a short 510 r2, just 2 small little squares at the slots. No results yet, too early, except it's much easier to quickly stop up the slots for now. Using a short r2 unmodded (original wick uncut), just for the heck of it.

So the slots should be left alone for the next version? I wonder if the flavor will go down the drain if they close up the slots with ceramic.

Last night, I took an old carto apart to get at the woven wick sleeve that Bad's brother's mod has and instead of a woven wick sleeve, it had a sleeve made of what appears to be similar to the felt that you're using. It may be a bit thinner than what you have. Hard to tell from the pic you showed. Anyway, I cut it into a half-inch strip, folded the strip in half lengthwise, and carefully placed it inside the e2 to encircle the ceramic cup. It's been vaping well and hasn't leaked.

By the way, the old carto I used was a V4L.

My guess (and it's just a guess) is that they really have no choice but to go back to the slots. It's the only thing they can change unless they want to try different wicks or add another material like PTB to aid in wicking. Raising the ohms would probably help too.

I just hope whatever they change, we can still mod them to taste.
