edit add: Br, the coil heat is actually the only thing that vaporizes, that is what I meant way back then. Nothing else in the circuit vporizes, including a variable resistor inside the brothers and sisters.
I don't need a lesson about the part of the circuit that vaporizes. If I did, I would not want you to be my teacher.

The variable voltage mods (Brother, Sister, and Buzz) do not use a series variable resistor to control the output voltage.

Mine measures 5volts exactly so it's definitely the current being low causing less performance than a high current 3.7v battery.

I don't think you understand basic electrical theory (Ohms Law) and that is causing some confusion.

For any fixed resistance load (a cartomizer or atomizer), low current will yield low voltage. Higher current will yield higher voltage. Just no getting around it.

Yes, but not by a huge amount.

With the same carto, 5v with low current performs much worse than my 3.7v batt with high current.

Note that my PT is a couple of months old, so it has degraded significantly (wires have oxidized / gained resistance over time). It still measures 5v though.

As I said... you apparently don't understand basic electronics (Ohms Law). What you have said makes no technical sense.

Yes in the rear port, using a decent 650w PSU.

The power output of the computer power supply has absolutely nothing to do with how much power you can get from the USB port. Many USB ports are current limited to 500mA, meaning that they can't put out the full 5V to a load like an atomizer or cartomizer. Unloaded voltage (the voltage that you get when you measure the PT output with no atomizer or cartomizer on it) means NOTHING.

I've ordered some from eliquids awaiting arrival, not sure if they are the same as the V4L ones.

5 volts at 650 watts sure ain't low current, heheh.

The only PT that I have found that approaches 5 volts is this one:
Model 510 Pass-through 3.7 & 5.0 Volt

Edit: This one cannot be operated from a computer.

all this mumbo jumbo, and for what, just vape man, just vape.lol

here is something we can discuss, silica as a wick, yes its used in 510 atomizers and others but its also in the e2.

now the owner of the GG mentioned silicosis which is lung disease from silica dust/powder, desert sand and silica debri.

now the wick is made from silica, i know its not in powdered form and i think it doesnt release gasses at the temps we use it but my question is, IS it safe for long term use since there is nothing written on silica being used as a wick. Obviously the same concern applies to filler in old cartos but thats not the issue here.

Whats the word on the R4s? They look hard to mod...in pics I've seen. What has your experience been if any? I'm happy with the R3s modded but have some R4s on order that I'm concerned about. I would have preferred to keep ordering the R3s since they are easily modded to perfection with PTB.

Just got a LittleSisterVariableVoltage and WHOOO she mixed with modded E2 R3 3-3.2ohm 808s are AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! XLs and reg length 3.0 ohms are also great with the LS. I have also had good luck with the E2 R2s 2.5-2.6ohm on the LS. What a GREAT PURCHASE (thanks to Ken at Boxmods.net)!!! E2s are BEGGING FOR Variable voltage for sure!!! So many different flavor kicks you can experience at different temps as everyone else has said before. And it is really easy to find the sweetspot for me as well.

Vape On!!!!

That's a good question 'bad'. I mentioned yesterday that I inspected my wick w/ over 2 weeks of use and it was not degraded. I'd be more concerned if it degrades but there may be no issue w/ silicosis in a non powdered form? Don't know for sure.
