I hit TC on every vape - just like it SHOULD be.

While the TC40W does seem to read high and run low, once a setting (ignore the "F" or "C" value) 'sweet spot' is found it appears to deliver consistent vapor - hit after hit.

I've tried three different tanks: STM, Atlantis2 and Lemo2 (with multiple different coils in the RTM's) and the TC40 seems to do its job. I've been running ~80F higher on the TC40 than my other TC mods.

Given that someone did the "dry cotton test" with the TC40 and was unable to damage the dry cotton at even 600F and I plan to only use RTA's on the iStick, I'm not to worried if the TC40 actually does damage my wick.

I love the size, weight, cost and formfactor. While the overly optimistic temperature might be hint as to the low vapor production market the device was designed/intended for, I plan on using mine every day.
TC (temperature control) is not TP (temperature protection)..........:pop:

You can buy a TC mod, put a nickel coil in it, set the temp to 450, adjust the power high enough for it to only reach 420, and it will never go into temperature control because it will never reach 450...:)
You can set it to go a bit over 450 and it will go into TC and hold the temp easily. Set it higher and it will have to fight to keep the temp down and may go into temp protection. If you are hitting temp protection every vape, you need to adjust your settings and/or build....:pop:

My 40W ain't here yet but I'm confused so I hope someone will unconfuse me...the lowest wattage on the istick IS 40W? I ask because I have an eVic and 30W and 420-40 degrees(depends on the liquid) is my sweet spot. The eVic goes from 30W to 60W. How high does the istick go? And what's the temperature range on it?

I heard it goes from 40w to 40w in TC....200 to 600F

The iStick TC40W goes from 200-600F and the wattage will adjust from 2.5 W to 40 W. However, in TC mode, you are stuck at 40 W. This, however, only affects the ramp up as the chip really controls the wattage.

Battery size: 21*35*82mm
Wattage output: 5-40W
Max output voltage: 8V
Minimum resistance: 0.05ohm(VT mode), 0.15ohm(VW mode)
Temperature range: VT mode 200~600 F or 100~310℃

In TC mode the mod will vary the watts or power output to the coil to keep it at the temp you set it. Unless your mod runs TC with pwm. Then it will pulse the power you set to keep the coil at temp. With the TC40w, just lock your coil in at room temp. Then adjust your temp setting where you want to start and go up or down from there.

If you lock your coil in correctly and it is in the operating range of the mod, I don't think your ohms will matter much. Heat is the primary thing in TC and your temp setting is the main factor in determining your vape. The mod will not heat a .06 ohm coil any hotter than a .20 ohm coil at the same setting.

I usually hold off on buying new things as well I have a 20 watt 2 30 watts and they work fine with exception of a sticky power button which I can tolerate for now, until I can find a link on how to disassemble them, and I'm in the search for a new mod, but everyone I like is expensive for me ( kids come first). I'm gonna look at reviews on the 40 watt, but I have no clue on what temp control does. Is it just for use in titanium and nickel coils or can I use it with the coil I use now, Also does it have one of the chips in it like the DNA 30 or the one ipv uses, does the temp control have anything to do with getting the same amount of power while the battery decreses, all in all I'm looking to something that maintains the same power while being used not like some mods that only give you a hour or so of great vaping than dies out, and I prefer internal batteries, I wish the size can be a tad bigger. Any suggestions? Thanks for. Letting me vent my confusion lol, you guys and gals on here are great

If you are hitting temp protection every vape, you need to adjust your settings and build.

Your missing the point of temperature control. If your not hitting your set point (and having the mod kick into 'temperature protection', you might as well be using VW mode as the mod is not regulating your temperature.

While it is still debatable what actual temperature the mod is regulating at any given set point, (some of us think it is 40-100F under the displayed setting) 'temperature protection' is when the regulation kicks in. The TC40 will use all of its 40W of power to reach the set point as quickly as possible.

You can use the tc40w with the coil you use now but it will be in VW mode and act just like your 30 watt. If you want to buy or build a nickel coil, then you must use the temperature control mode. I don't think the tc40w supports titanium coils, but some others do.

I've run a Ti coil on the iStick TC 40W. You just have to adjust the temp. There's a chart over in another TC thread... can't remember the complete thread name.. dicodes and nickel purity and some such...
