Milk is sugar. Skim milk is ALL sugar, whole milk has a bit of fat to slow the release of it.
Pretzels are sugar (white flour)
I didn't know that. All this time I'm drinking 1% or 2% thinking it's better for me then whole milk.

Now just to get back on topic. What do you all think about vaping sweet mixes such as fruits, candies etc vs. vaping less sweet such as tobaccos, erbs etc. Do you think it has any significant influence on sugar levels.
It isn't. You're right.
But with Danny being so brittle, it might make a difference. He just need to be sure to count that carb choice.
Just because it's not "sugar" doesn't mean your body doesn't treat it like sugar.
Edit:
If your drawing that conclusion from my avatar shame on you for not realizing thats a charactor from "The lord of the rings"![]()
Just to set the recort straight and let me start by saying that I already know no ill intention was ment and please no appoligy is needed. I'm not brittle I'm infact quite healthy physically and very mobile and active. I have no serious ailments resulting from the diabeties. My sugars are way off from what they should and usually are and I'm just wanting to get back to where I was.
Everybody here has been so supportive with great suggestions and this is the most important ingredient in this thread. Lets keep things going here because it's very important to me and all fellow vapors with diabeties.

My bad. I was worried that you couldn't get your numbers under control.
But my philosophy is "If my doctor is happy, I'm happy" I have A1C drawn every six months and she hovers over me like a mother hen. I love her.
Good for you.
When you mentioned the metformin getting you sick that kind of made me chuckle. I gather by sick you ment "Oh my god I hope I mak it to the bathroom on time" kinda sick. Why it makes me chuckle it's because I've been through that so many times and also (Not ashamed to admit it) havent always made it. A funny thing about that. The med usually doesn't have that effect unless your blood is very out of wack. It triggers your body to start dumping the bad stuff in a hurry. When your blood is at an acceptable level it that doesen't happen. I get the same syomtoms with acto plus met. So don't think it was just you. Talk to your doctor about it.
I do not, honestly, see a difference between EM and sucralose in my vapes with my fingersticks.
I only did tobacco flavors for a short time after I quit and moved on to fruit and coffee and bakery cause tobacco made me want a cigarette.
YupDidn't make it a few times myself.
Happened EVERY time I ate. So I cut myself to one meal a day. Not good, but it's how I coped.
I told my old doctor about it every time I saw him for 2 years and he blew it off. The new doctor immediately pulled me off it.for byetta. Good stuff. Pricey. Stayed on it a year. Can't afford it. So I'm on diabeta now. First month on it but doing good.
Thank you for sharing that. I does make me feel better knowing I'm not alone. <hug>
I actually freaked out and took it seriously right away. It took a long time for me to re-learn how to eat though. But, I did slowly learn and improve. Until I lost all the weight and starting getting low blood sugar levels instead of high. Then it got more complicated. Moderation is much more difficult than extremes.I finally admitted to my son one night when he came over "I'm diabetic". It was the first time I'd ever said it out loud and it actually made me realize I need to start taking this seriously.
That sounds like a good deal. Thanks.Princessdee said:Do a google search. You can get a free meter lots of places. The expense is test strips, so check how much they are (most brands I've found are roughly $1 a strip. That's $1 each time you check. I went with one called "Embrace" I paid for the meter ($8 I think) (It talks the reading and plays a merry tune while it's counting down. Just brightens the process a bit)but the strips I can get on amazon for $12 for a 50 bottle. Shipped.

Doesn't mean you can't have them, you NEED sugar to stabilize. But some. Not a lot. And slow-release, not the white flour.
Oatmeal might be a good substitute for the special K. (but I love it too. Red berries..nom nom nom.)
For something crunchy, maybe some nuts and berries added in. The peanuts are a good idea, but need a bit of (again slow-release) sugar. Do you like peanut butter? Spread it on some 100% whole wheat bread. Add a bit of agave nectar if you like, the way most people add honey.
Yes, it is definitely more expensive. But, the expense is the least of it. It's just plain work! You have to think about every little detail. You have to read labels because things that say "Natural" aren't and things that say "Whole Wheat" aren't. There's chopping vegetables and such. And, there's always having to have safe food made and eating tiny little amounts - constantly.I talk with my Doctor all the time and eating healthy is way beyond my meager budget.
BTW.
Did you know that craving those simple carbs is part of the disease.
I'm glad your doctor wasn't overly concerned about your sugar levels. But, not about your blood pressure. Does he think diabetes contributed?Actually not quite how I expected. The doctor was so pleased that I quit smoking and actually encoraged me to keep vaping. He did not over react as I expected him to at my blood sugar levels and said that I need to work on it to get it lower. He still over emphized that I must loose 10 pounds. What was alarming was my blood pressure. Last time I went I was 152 over 86. This time I was 164 over 95 which is in the heart attack strokeville range. He immidately put me on blood pressure meds. So the adventure begins.
I saw the doctor about 9 months ago. My blood sugar wasn't perfect, but not really bad either. And, I'm not getting any extreme symptoms like I was back when I first found out I was diabetic. For all I know my levels might even be ok. I promise I will find my meter and strips sometime in the next couple of days and check to make sure. How long has it been since you've seen your doctor? If longer then 1 year you should go see them. Keep use posted. Were here to help and support you. You never know what they have to say may actually put your mind at ease. If not you'll have the whole picture and be in a better position to put yourself on the right track.

What I do know is that my diet leaves a lot to be desired and so does my weight. That concerns me. And, compounded with my high cholesterol, I'm a bit scared. I need to stop burying my head in the sand and dealing with it.
Milk is sugar? Oh, no! What about fat free?
I happened to find out I was diabetic right at the end of going through menopause. Based on my increased need for calcium, I've been drinking a fair amount of fat free milk. Should I not then?
Because of my high cholesterol levels and the fact that it runs in the family (along with heart attacks), my doctor recommended old-fashioned oatmeal for breakfast every day (not quick oats).
I love peanut butter. But, I've discovered that most peanut butter has lots of sugar. Have you tried Simply Jif? It has much less sugar and salt than other peanut butters.

It's strange. I never craved sweets in my life - until my blood sugar started dipping below 70. But, if I eat my tiny little amounts constantly like I'm supposed to and if I keep my blood sugar where it's supposed to be, I never get hungry and never crave sweets.
