I fixed the ERA. I machined the 510 Connector down to the proper size.
Nice! Was gonna do this today but got lazy, did you pop out the center pin and insulator? Or just skimmed it like that?

so far so good, but I can already tell the air hole is going to have to open up a bit, I only want a touch more airflow, so I'm not sure how to go about this carefully and not muck it up

Right across from the coil is best air flow for me. I agree, I need to open mine up to.
Talking to Rob, he said 1/16 inch...or better yet 3/32 if you can find a bit that size.

Since receiving my ERA I've been experimenting with many different wick set ups. I've come across one that seems to work extremely well. I'm using 3mm silica wick. Starting with about 3", I make a loop and wrap the coil around the ends of the loop about 1/2" from the end. Then, before connecting the leads, I put the loop over the center post. By pulling the wick ends through the coil you can adjust the size of the loop. Then I connect the leads and trim the excess wick from the ends. What this does is create a well for juice around the center pin. Works great!
I honestly really don't want to screw it up lol. I was thinking of doing it with a small pointy needle file just a touch at a time

Just got done trying this wick setup and wow you did good!!!!!
Just got my ERAs and these are some pics I took, seem they trimmed down the stem a little, doesn´t it?
I got my 3/64 drill bit at lowes. It comes in a dremel brand precision drill bit set. I found it in the dremel accessory section. It was almost 10 bucks but its nice to have a set of precision bits on hand. I don't like a 1/16 air hole, it's just too airy of a draw for me, the stock hole was way too stiff. 3/64 is perfect

Maybe I'm not getting it, but isn't 3/32 BIGGER than 1/16? If 1/16 is too airy, how is 3/32 perfect? 1/16=2/32 right?

SammyT you sent me for a whirl! I read that while at work and my head started spinning...I seriously felt incredibly dumbz for a few minutes trying to figure out why my brain was running backwards hahaha
I got reckless and courageous, took the dremel and bored it out with a 3/64 bit, 1/16 looked scary big
The ERA at the bit alive, couldn't even get through all the way so its a hair less than 3/64, but got through enough, draw is perfect now!

Well. . . I kinda wish I saw this before I just went and drilled one of my ERAs out to 1/16.
I too think the stock hole is too tight and figured maybe you just got your numbers backwards. Now I have a 1/16 hole that's too airy, bummer. The flavor/vapor is a little better, but it's definitely too airy now. At least I didn't do both of my ERAs. I'll see if I can't find a 3/64 bit around town. thanks for the correction.
Take a cart Condom and make a small band, slid it down over the hole and adjust it back up to where the air flow is good. I did this on a few Atty mods I built and drilled the hole at 1/16th It works well to adjust the air flow.

I have just ordered one BF ERA SS from the IVS co-op. ( I saw so many who's name I recognized order them , so i followed their lead)
The heads-up warning, for all who know me, is that I'm sure I'll have approximately 15 million questions when I receive it and start the process of trying to build one of these things!
( I mailed Rob my precious vvgrand and my woodvil last Thurs. for some of his doctoring skills cuz right after Pietro left me alone with his BF ERA I messed up my vvgrand and collapsed the spring on the woodvil...I'm sure because I tightened the ERA too much on the thread
)
