Ever get pulled over while vaping?

I've been vaping as constantly as humanly possible ever since i stopped smoking a few weeks ago :vapor:
Driving used to be my favorite time to smoke back before i had kids... now i vape while i drive and i'm loving it! Only, i keep worrying about getting pulled over and having to explain to/convince a cop that i'm not doing drugs. I tend to just put down the pv if i notice a cop car, but I'm still worried.

Has anyone ever been pulled over & what happened?

I always wonder this myself. How the police feel about people who vape an drive. I for one have been vaping before since Christmas an I still put my eGo down just cause of the WHAT IF factor. I don't want to bother with all the hassle of the cops pulling me over an maybe him be a "insert bad word here". Cops might see it as a bad idea since now they will have a hard time telling the difference between people who are actually vaping an who are abusing drugs. But if one did pull me over I would just tell him what I'm doing an its nothing bad. I always make sure to carry my vendors cards on me just to show them where I buy my stuff at. But maybe someone could tell us if anyone has had a run in wile vaping?

I got the double-whammy of vaping pulled over nightmare. I was using my ProVape-1 on the first evening and took a turn down a one-way alley by accident. I stopped immediately but a cop was already there. In addition to the ProVape I had a newly fabbed circuit board in the seat next to me neatly wrapped in a few layers and I had decided I would then also wrap it in this white thick plastic material we use in emergency management (literally a body-bag that was made white instead of black).

So the first question after license and registration is what I "have there" about the ProVape. Then the officer's eyes saw the bag next to me and got REALLY BIG. I had no idea why but she was gone to her patrol car before I could even get my registration out. Next thing I know there are two more patrol cars and they've asked me to get out. One of the officers asks why I have ....... in my car. I must've looked as panic stricken as he made me feel because, well, I didn't have ........ In a smooth series of motions like he was bloody Clint Eastwood he opens the door, takes my package, sits it on the hood of my truck, and STABS it with a knife.

This was just over a week ago. That happened so fast that by the time I got to explain the ProVape I think I could've said it was actually an electric .... and they would've let me go they were so embarrassed about destroying my property (well, customer property). However, I did explain and show it off a bit, gave this website as reference, and BWB too.. so I wonder if any of them are here reading this. Remember me guys and gal? -Magnus

Sorry to hear they ruined your carrying case. At least they did not confiscate anything and actually understood what it was.

Many cops smoke and most are aware of vaping. The one's I have talked to think it is funny that anyone thinks they have time to pull people over for vaping. I would not worry about it at all.

I think most Poliece departments have regular meetings where they are informed about things like this. Some departs do these types of meetings almost daily...

As highly visible public servants, they don't like being embarassed anymore than the people they serve.

Don't get me wrong...I know there are places where law enforcement is done on a shoe string budget...and little if any time is spent on public relations and steady streams of breifings on the things to watch for vs things that are harmless; but, for the most part cops and security people around the country are very professional and well informed about these sorts of things...probably well before the main-stream of society is.

I vape all the time and everywhere. When I see a police car I always get ready (mentally) to be able to tell them in as few words as possible an explanation of what I'm doing.

I feel that if an officer has me on their "radar" and sees my hand drop suddenly from view (in an effort to hide my PV) this will make me appear suspicious.

Vaping is legal and there's nothing to hide.

Id10t I don't know where that cop went to training at but stabbing an unknown device is Really ignorant...if it was a bomb that could trigger it...I have disarmed a few booby traps in my day and that's not the way to do it.....Luckily you are a normal upstanding citizen...lol

Me and the wife were actually pulled over in a parking lot by one SPECIFICALLY over my first PV mod...I don't blame em it was a giant Puck mod so with carto and all it looked bad(Imagine all the B movie detonators)...Imagine all the looks I get sitting in the van as she shops...in a handicapped spot so I'm in the front where everyone sees...lol Of course then I blow a cloud of vapor and people really stare...lol

I really have nothing against Law Enforcement but sometimes a little prudence is in order...I was asked what it was I Calmly handed it to the officer (keeping my fingers away from the button!!!) and he opened it realized it was not a dangerous(or illicit) device and handed it back...I explained it to him and gave him a card from MV and told him about ECF at which point his partner who was in the car on the radio came out and He had an E-go...ROFL...about 5 min later we were off heading home...A cool head reigns in these situations...Panic does not help...They are here to protect and serve...just be nice and don't give them a reason to get nervous...:vapor::vapor:

Not so much being pulled over driving but I've been pulled over walking by the police. I'd sort of already prepared myself for it because my e-cig doesn't look like a cig and I knew I'd be the first with one. I'd already half thought out what I'd say if anyone asked, including the police.

They were really horrible about it and insinuated I was doing illegal drugs over and over while I'm explaining what it was as politely as I could through shaken nerves. Hey, I don't think many would be able to stay calm when two policemen pull out infront of you and start shouting as though you'd just killed someone. Knowing, absolutely knowing the legality of e-cigs in Scotland and knowing exactly what is in them and how it works and being able to explain it all to another person was a massive help I can tell you.

So, I'd say, prepare yourself for the what if scenario and you should feel a lot better about it. Like some people said already, have a business card/some documentation for them to hand over, be prepared to show it to them and take it apart and prepare a brief explanation of exactly what you have that looks suspicious to them. Other than that, just be polite and open and try not to look too nervous about it, afterall, it's perfectly legal!

Was vaping on Siesta Key beach earlier this month, and one of the Sherrifs on a 4 wheeler ground to a halt and asked me what I was smoking. I told him I wasn't I was vaping then gave him a a tour of my Reo Grand, he was very impressed saying he had only seen the type that looked like a real cig. You can't smoke analog cigs on the public part of Siesta Key beach.

i dont like to do anything that would get me pulled over as it takes time out of my day i dont make it looks suspicious like OH .... COP HIDE THE PV but if i see a police officer i generally wont vape as some of the devices we use may look like a pipe at a glance. dont be nervious and all shakey when you get stopped it puts the officer on edge as well mabe im talking out my ... but i regularly see and interact with cops on a daily basis i know 20+ on a personal basis cops in my family and there friends be polite and simply explain what the device is its no biggie guys!

You can do what you want.

One thing to think about is you made a choice to vape, they do not get that same luxury.

but seriously, do you know something i dont? is there something harmful about the vapor that would affect other people in the vicinity? i have not heard that this is the case...
open to answers from any other posters who wanna chime in! because i would absolutely not want to expose my kids to a harmful substance...

I always have issues with something that looks like something strangely out of the ordinary and have to question to myself, "what are others impressions?" I'm not self conscious, mind you, but I don't want to waste time and effort trying to explain away to some authority.
So for me, in a car, I stick with cig like and size units. In fact i prefer them anyways, and see them as less obnoxious to the general public.

Oh, and as far as vaping with family in the car...If you used to smoke, this is a major improvement , and the kids (your kids) will understand the purpose. There is also nothing harmful to them. The off gassing is water like (being simplistic).
