The dna 200 out of the box shows voltage, but I noticed the dna 75 does not. Anyone know how this can be change? e.g., is there some setting in escribe I can configure?
Hook your mod up to Escribe and click on the screen Tab. There you can set what you want to be displayed in the 3 smaller displays via the drop-down boxes. After your done click on Upload Settings to device at the top of Escribe.

The latest version of escribe from evolvs website has the dna75 built in

Do you mean something new this week?

The previous/current 200 version does not handle the 75, but the 75 version has the code for the 200.

I'm not sure why they didn't just release the 75 version as the newest 200 version... if you never hook up a 75 to it you'd never see the differences*. But they didn't. o_O

eta: * There are three main differences I've come across...
With a 75 connected you have some changes to the battery section (being single cell, as a rule); there is a section for adjusting the fire button LED settings; and the 3-line display options have two "firing/charging" pairs... one for TC and one for Power Mode.

I don't believe that it has the latest version firmware for the 75, the one where it flashes the battery bar instead of the "weak battery" message. As far as I know that is the only difference between them. The "not recommended as yet " version is available from Evolve's support site as a firmware only download.
Edit: It looks like I missed the topic of the original post...

The 200 & 75 versions for download are supposed to be identical except for a precursor package of drivers & configurations software which must be downloaded & installed prior to running it. Supposedly they only packaged that installer with the DNA75 version of the downloader.

Makes sense.
But the 75 handles the 200... why continue to have both?
No user would notice the extra MB (if that) of the app size.

I just got my DNA 75 a week ago and dl'd the escribe software from evolve. Maybe it did an update when installed it that I didn't realize but it worked with my therion and has the DNA 75 features.

It has code to check for "DNA75" updates on the Evolv site, as well as "DNA200".

The "first connect" installation of Win drivers may be separate from Escribe.
And it takes forever... having done five now, I'm pretty damn sick of it. ;)

Did you have to look or be sure to grab the right one?

I was directed to the 75 version by the 133 crowd because they knew I had a 75 on the way.
As It works for all of mine, I never did go look at the 200 version.

Mine arrives Saturday. I used I'll follow the links here. Heh

What's coming? (sorry... this thread has become confuzzling)

I need to knuckle down and fine tune Daniel's SMY profiles, get them into the VT75 as well, and modify the lot for the 133s.

I think it's a better way to go... creating a range of "pre-heat & punch" profiles and then just selecting the material on the fly and adjusting wattage and temp... versus creating material profiles which then have a set and non-adjustable pre-heat.

The downside would be... every time you re-upload the .ecig file from your computer, it will reset the Wattage and Temp (and material) for each profile.

Hmmm... six of one, half dozen of the other.
I still think I'll try it.

You need the Wattage and about 3 different generic preheats maybe (if you want to try a new atty/build in the field). Yeah the settings you last used will be saved to Escribe. That is a good thing. You've got certain attys you use regularly. You get one dialed in right you save the profile & copy it to one of the other 4 presets specifically for that atty/build w/ a custom screen.

That's the general idea... having a range of preheats to cover the wattage of the mod.

Yeah... no thanks.

Or not.
Sometimes I have changes in the comp that I want on the mod, sometimes the opposite.
What I don't like is that connecting a mod will replace the open Escribe window with a new unsaved one. The latest trick I've been using is to hit Cancel on the initial connection dialog, then click the Device Monitor button... that forces a new Connection dialog but keeps the current Escribe window open.

In EScribe on the menu bar, Options and uncheck Automatically Connect to Device. Also see that Connect? That allows you to connect without download settings. Or you can open Device Monitor if you were going there anyway. ;)

Unchecking Auto-Connect should solve the first problem, thanks.
If the Connect menu item doesn't auto-load the mods settings... that would be nice (I'll try later).

But it's the untitled window that was getting in my way. I need to play with it some more to see when it does and doesn't, and if it loses any changes I may have been working on.

Need to clean up reorganize my Evolv folder again anyway. So many saved .ecig files. :p

That is the beauty of Escribe & the DNA200. You can set it up any way you want. Daniels programming was good for giving you an idea of how these concepts & setting work in reality so you can learn to set it up for what works best for you. You obviously have a very good Idea of what you want. ENJOY!

LOL... I have a concept of a method which may prove efficient.
What I lack is a consistency in my vape style... other than no MTL. :p

It just strikes me that... preheat is the only functional parameter that cannot be adjusted in the mod. So it seems logical to give that one preference in design of the profiles and adjust the others as needed.

Over time I could find I'm overthinking it and that I fall into easy patterns of build and usage that makes this concept moot... but I'm not experienced enough with it to be there yet.
In other words... maybe I'm being an idiot. :D
