Can you explain HOW it is better? I see it being a cool feature, but with the vape I'm getting from my DNA30 and SX350, I just can't see how the QUALITY of vape can get any better? I wish evolve would put this much R&D into a tank or atty. that is where I think things can be improved.
It will be much more evident when the spec's and related info is officially released....

All I can say is that Evolv has a proven track record of bringing new and better technology to the vaping community.... hopefully the tank/atty folks can follow suit....and the e-liquid folks also....

Can you at least confirm it has step down capability?.........our not?

The beta testing has been done with the guidance that no information be "leaked" ..... The information will be freely discussed when we are at liberty to do so... I know that is not what you are wanting but I hope you understand... I can say, from my small part in the testing, that I'm impressed by what this new board has to offer...

Since you are asking about step down capable devices I guess you saw that Innokin's new SVD 2 will have a new Evolv Experience™ Microchip.chip in it....made specifically for Innokin...... here is a link and a video link.... Early indications from Innokin indicated a price point at about 99 bucks....

If you can't imagine how it could be better from what we already know ... you have a very poor imagination ;)

This is the answer I was expecting, and I do understand, thank you for taking the time to explain anyway.

I have seen the new SVD,............Thanks again..........

I'm not a beta tester and not under NDA, so I can SPECULATE:

  • It has reverse battery protection.
  • It's a boost-buck regulator (in other words it does have "step-down")
  • It will require coils to be made from a different alloy than we're used to in order for temperature control mode to work properly.
Any more questions?

Much more predictable, no chance of a dry hit, VERY repeatable. I cant give out specs, but I have a half dozen DNA30s laying around and this new board beats the others out, I only use the old DNA30s as backup now, and I have some damn good DNA30 Mods.

I agree with predictable, but how can a chip prevent dry hits?

I am not a watt chaser, and although I have a 60 watt chip, I haven't gone above 30. It is not quantity of vapor I want, it is quality and flavor. So if this chip can help eliminate some of the tank, wicking, and flavor issues that exist, I am all for it! I guess without the specifics, I just can't see how a chip can do these things. Maybe I am wrong, but isn't 20 watts...20 watts ( comparing similar dc outputs). I am open minded and extremely hopeful while waiting for the release. I just hope I'm not disappointed.

A "dry hit" is caused by excessive wire temperature.

So if I have 30 watts but also a set temperature, once the temperature is achieved it will possibly be below 30 watts? This could be interesting if we all get educated on what temperatures work with what juices or ingredients.

I should probably pause this conversation until the specifics are released. But thanks Rossum.

Sorry for OT, but did you guys see this?

Link not working... Here is pics, SX mini by YiHi

Is that Joules on the display and a standard/powerful mode? At least another company is trying to innovate as well. I posted this here to get the input of what I consider to be the "intelligent" people on this forum.

If this is out of line, let me know and I'll start a new thread.

Remain hopeful, it will serve you well. "wicking, and flavor issues" can be greatly reduced with this new board, once you dial it in to your particular build/juice combo. Alas I dont think it will do much to resolve "tank" issues.

Well, if the coil remained properly wet, it might never be necessary for the controller to reduce the power to the coil. But if your coil/wick start to dry out, then a "weak hit" would probably be much more desirable than a dry one, no?

Again, I'm just speculating. I have no inside info. However, I did design power supplies for industrial heating processes a couple of decades ago, and some of the problems we solved there were rather similar to the people now encounter in PVs.

I agree!! Glad I have perfected my kayfun builds, so don't have that issue. But would be cool feature.
