The NDA has been lifted as of Midnight (EST) and we can now "release the kraken" or rather we are now able to discuss the DNA40D.
The official release of the Evolv DNA40D will be Tuesday October 14, 2014.
The following video will go a long way in answering many of the questions posed over the past few months.

The only comment I will add now is that chasing higher wattage is not the way to a better vape..... managing the temperature and an adequate wattage brings a new and exciting dynamic to our rapidly evolv-ing vaping habit/hobby.......

This has been one hard secret to keep, because man ... this changes just about everything about vape technology. It is literally operating on another level, in another dimension, than anything else. This is IT, folks. The future!
We had 2 beta testers with nickel sensitivity and both were able to use it with no issues.
I hope I'm not sensitive to nickel since I just ordered 300 feet of it. I expect Temco to get slammed soon. Pretty exciting news!

While I think this is cool technology, I am not sure what the target user is. Obviously, it's the RBA/RTA crowd. But many of those will not feel like they need a nanny to limit their mods. They have been craving for higher Watts anyway. So then we have the health-conscious folks who likely run their mods at lower wattages anyway. And finally, we have the luddites that just want a decent vape and couldn't care less about the added complexities this chip brings along. They use Kangers and Aspires and just use stock atties. They won't be able to take advantage of TC, so there is no added benefit for them. Why bother with a chip that adds $60 material cost to any mod?

The target user is every vaper. There is literally no vaper for whom this technology would not improve their experience. It's not just health consciousness either, though that is a major benefit. The most sophisticated power control in the industry bar none and no dry hits ever. There is nothing even on the level BELOW the level this is at.
I am so pleased that Evolv has been thinking in terms of safety, satisfying regulatory/health concerns and what constitutes a pleasurable vaping experience rather than losing their way down the mindless rabbit hole of increasingly irrelevant levels of power. I'm actually most excited about the less expensive 25 watt chip and pre made coils Brandon discussed in his interview with Phil. One would reasonably expect vaping success stories to increase dramatically if dry hits can be made to be a thing of the past in affordable gear.
Why get a new PV? Couldn't you just change the DNA30 with the new DNA40 board? Seems to me that that would be cheaper......unless you're like me and like new stuff.I haven't had my DNA30 that long. So I'll have to ponder do I get a new PV now with the new board or do I wait for the rush and dust to settle and get one later. Decisions, decisions.
Sometimes I wonder if I just like watching the mailman tryin' to put boxes in the mail box. It is very entertaining......
I was wondering about peeps with nickel sensitivity. Good to see this, I'm sure it also will depend on how sensitive a person is to it.

I think one of them was quite sensitive. She was was careful to do some mouth hits first to make sure everything was ok. They do have to be careful when building the coils also, of course.
Yep.... sensitivity to nickel by those effected should be considered... just as there are those with sensitivity to PG in e-liquids.....Why get a new PV? I've had my DNA30 for couple of months now, i don't see the big urge for a DNA40 for me. IMO while the new features are nice they're not a must have for me. I want it bigger wattage a month ago so went and got a SX350 60 Watts. Ill pass for now(unless a E7 DNA40 was magically available to me) i think i am done buying Mods for now. This Hobby has turned out a bit expensive LOL more expensive in my case then when i was smoking cigarettes.
Bingo , you hit the nail on the head , this "need maximum wattage " game is a joke and no doubt gives the opposition lots of ammo to regulate heavily. There's a reason the Provari (until recently) wasn't high powered and the MVP's have had such a high success rate , they provide an outstanding vape for all but a few.
Keep it reasonable and safe
