I just got my 1/8" ceramics in today. I didn't go all out with prepping the wick because I was too excited to get it all set up. All I did was to place them in a cup and rinse with hot running water for about 5 minutes and then 5 juice burns. I was hesitant to start with my usual 1.0 ohm coils so I went with a 4/3 wrap of 32g, which metered out to 1.8 ohms, and I fired her up at 4.0V. My juice is a 60% VG mix from KBV, and I'm able to get 4 long, consecutive hits without any dry hits...and the flavor was super clean! I'm surprised because, based on what I've read, I was expecting to get a dry hit on rip #3. I don't normally take more than 3 in a row so even if it doesn't get any better, I'm sill very happy with the ceramic wicks!

i have tried this and just could not get it tight enough for it to work. .
Yes vap, I'm pre-coiling on a precision 3mm screwdriver. the key word here being 3mm.
I fix the ground but not the +. then I insert the wick. Finally I grab the wick and top end of the wire and twist half a turn in the coiling direction to have those coils really snug.... this works for me with the 28g.... but I'd sure appreciate a vid on how ur doing it...

edit: just ordered some scuba wicks... anyone tried both and can honestly compare?

you maybe getting better results then i did for 2 reasons, one the wick in my comments are the small 3/32 wicks and two, i have been using 100 percent vg.

Got my 1/8th FC 2000's in & I am sold on these!! No more metallic taste with the SS mesh for me even with a perfect coil I could always taste the metal regardless of how I had it set up...Seems like the 1/8 can handle the wrap pressure just fine...Nice video vapdivrr!! I agree that holding the coil down with a finger during wraps is for sure the best way for me in keeping those coils tight

thanks for that on the video, i cannot wait for my 1/8 wicks to arrive so i can just not have to worry quit as much on the possibility of one snapping. but you are so right on the slight metalic taste of the ss. i never really tasted it until vaping the ceramic. like i had mentioned in an earlier post, i have an ac-9 waiting for the 1/8's, but currently has a ss mesh set-up, i hardly have been vaping it because of that slight metalic taste at the finish of the exhale, for it is really noticable since vaping the ceramic. besides the fragility of ceramic and the fact that i have found a longer break in period compared to ss mesh , the taste is so worth it to me. the only issue is not sure how the 1-1/2 lenght of the ceramic wick will work in my ac-9, for they are deeper then most. i was worried that the finger thing on the video in itself could make someone snap the wicks, for if you really press hard like that it could happen, but its really placed there very lightly, just barely enough to touch it. i wanted to import the actual video in here but couldnt because of an invalid extension, as far as i know the video that i took is mpeg-2, which is not excepted by ecf, so i had to upload to u-tube. maybe there is another way, i am not to savey on these things. maybe the mpeg can be coverted to another file thats excepted here, i really dont know. i have wrote on this to ecf in an email, so i will wait to hear what they say, but i guess its not that big of a deal to just hit the hyperlink to connect to u-tube for the video. thanks for watching, i really wanted to do the video without any cuts, for sometimes i think people who watch these instructional videos think that there are tricks or something that they are not showing, or that they say they are easy to set-up but actually are spending an hour off camera actually doing it. i did the video in one take, no cuts just to show exactly the time and that there is no tricks.

forget about the AC9, way too short... mine are on the side believe it ot not! I got 3 DIDs on ceramic and there's no way back now!
That's why I ordered some bubblestone to try to cut a few out of it. RiP says its not the same stuff... I asked him what he used on his YT thread, no answer.

how did you do that? man i was up all frigging night trying to get this vidoe here, thanks for that. so i am kind of bumming about the ac-9, for it is by far my favorite between my did and aga. i am thinking the same about the ceramic, i probably think its the same as the fin stone or bubble stuff. i think the hardest thing is to get the wick totally round. i am in the stone business, so getting one cut to size would be sort of easy for me, but getting as close to perfectly round might be tricky . if not completely round, might be issues in the coil. i probably believe rip used the 2000 wick in his ac-9, but i would think you would have to constantly be adding juice to top levels. to bad you couldnt add a spacer in the tank to isolate the top half only, if you reduced the depth of the tank by half? actually it would probably be the same dam thing, nevermind. no doubt, there is no going back, to me it is the same difference as for when i first came from carts to gennys, i remember saying how pure the flavor was compared to carts, now this is what i am saying from ss to ceramic. thanks again dsmooch for importing the video, not that it has any ground breaking info on it, but non the less.

lol you embed the video with the tags [..video]videolinkhere[/video..] (without the dots) or use the toolbar button "insert video" and it will do it for you :)
just insert a DID's wick in the AC9 and you get the picture... williebb from the AC9 thread told me it had to be fin... so I ordered fin...
I can't go through the whole scuba thread... I saw how he cuts it though. looks pretty simple... but the question remains, is it the same stuff???

edit: i still haven't seen anyone coiling it live with a 30g....so that's pretty ground breaking.

Great vid Vapdivrr! I'm going to give wrapping it in device later on. Yesterday when I was wrapping it off device and lost some tension after I inserted it into the aga-t, I took a pair of tweezers and pulled on the wire as I was dry firing the coil and re-tightened the ground connection after. This also worked pretty well but now I realize that my wick isn't sticking up high enough and the top coil isn't getting enough juice causing me to get burnt flavor. My top coil is only like 1mm from the top of the wick, which is a really bad set up atm.

Anyone know if these FC-2000 wicks are going to become available at more places as time goes on? I only know of 3 places selling this specific wick;

1. S&S Mods, which is sold out
2. DiscountVapers, which is sold out
3. Tank E-Cigs, which is in-stock (last I looked), but unfortunately quite a bit more expensive @ $20 for (3) wicks

I hope they start popping up at more vendors.

I might just pony up the $20 for them at Tank's. It's more than I want to spend, just to try something. But if it comes to it, I might just go ahead and do it.:D

i am really not sure if this could be your problem, i am looking at my wick&coil set-up and seems the same. my wick is just below the pp, and my last coil is just below top of wick, maybe 1/16 of an in. i dont think its all that good if you have alot of space from top of wick to last coil, for the top part of the wick is wicking with no purpose. if may just be the fact that the wick is simply not broken in yet and not having its full wicking capability as of yet.

as im sure many people will adopt them, and they will become popular, until the price drops many people will avoid them.
I cant see the average users avoiding a topshelf atty becuase a DID clone is only 20 dollars then spending another 20 on a couple wicks.

that is true, it is hard to believe that the wicks are just as expensive as the device. it will be just a matter of time before they become more affordable, for all new things are generally to expensive. yes, maybe those on more of a budget for now are not willing to pay the extra money for these wicks but thanks to the ones that are willing, for this creates the need for more, which in turn will ultimately create competition in the product sales, hopefully lowering the prices. i dont think this is just something that is here today gone tomorrow kind of thing, these wicks truely create a much better flavor then ss, no doubt about it, so in this regard it is a game changer. its just a matter of some possible tweeks in certain areas of this product to really win the war, but for now i think its a promising start.
