no doubt, these wicks are so expensive compared to ss mesh, i am just hoping they will produce for a while. fingers crossed.
I just ordered from E-tank as well ... will bite the price bullet to quell the curiosity. I figure if you are doing well with the 3/32 so far, the 1/8s should probably last longer if clogging turns out to be an issue. I have watched lots of Youtube Vids on ceramics, no one's mentioned any problems so far.

Just like clearos vs. ss mesh RBAs ... even if ss mesh would only last 2 weeks at $8 a crack, I don't think I could ever go back to clearos again. I vaped a BCC one yesterday (I had abandoned since my ZAP arrived) ... half-full ... puke.

will the fc-2000 1/8" ceramic wicks fit in the z-atty pro wick hole?
I have a ZAP ... and even with the plastic insulator removed, I can't see 1/8" fitting in there ... but I might be wrong. I think I'll have a more steady hand boring out an AGA-T ... lol

if this is all you are vaping for now until its fully broke in then why not use some good juice. but if you are just vaping here and there and vaping another device then maybe just leave it in

Ended up finishing the tank and put in some Haze from DV. Had some issues after filling with weak vapor production even with a fully charged battery. Turned out that somehow my top nut loosened and it was at 3.5 ohms.. yuck. Now it's back down to 2 ohms and hitting awesome. What I'm noticing with my 3/32nd ceramic is that the vapor doesn't feel as thick on inhale and exhale like it does on my 500 ss mesh but that one is also setup with 28g vs the 32g that's on my ceramic. The flavor though, really clean.

I have been using the 3/32 small wicks in my ZAP. I am not real impressed either. ...
So I am back to SS until I can get a few more but they are too expesive to keep breaking and don't add much over very inexpensive SS mesh.

terrible story man, a real nightmare... I do hope you have better luck next time.

After trying these now from DV before they sold out the 1/8 in for my DID20.
For me ceramic is so so as it does not self saturate itself unless tilted then i still tend to run into a dry wick.
With the cap off i can see that the ceramic is not not keeping up after multiple fires in tilted position and then because of that the coils glow and will impart a harsh taste.
Mine is broken in as i have run numerous tanks thru it but act the same it will not self saturate itself.

As an example i can roll a 400 and a 500 mesh wick simply stick it in the tank and leave it upright (no tilt) and within seconds the whole wick is saturated and i can fire that wick in upright position and it never runs dry even with back to back fireings.

I'm use my DIY e-liquid @ 85pg/15vg .

But i feel there is hope as i seen a fella from Germany demonstrate in video a "white ceramic wick" in standup position with many back to back firings without the wick going dry and no glowing coils, i could see that wick self saturate itself like the mesh does.

You could also see that top part of the wick darkened and he demonstrated with a torch how he cleaned it nice and white again.
Perhaps one day that type will be available here in the USA.
His came to him as a sample in Germany from a German company.
So until then i wait . ; )

Dieseler are you coils tight and snug? bro i'm hitting these at 15 watt! if your coils arent in contact you gonna get those hotspots and the feeling that the wick's not keeping up. but true you need to be at 3oclock the first couple of days until it starts overwicking...
maybe try to coil it like vapdivrr but with a 32g at first...if u've checked the vid, see how tight those coils need to be... good luck :)

yes the 32g is kind of like this. when i did the first set-up with the 3/32 wick i wanted to go conservative so i did the 32g. it was ok, but after a tank or so i changed to 30g, and noticed a big difference in vapor, but it wasnt until it was fully broke in that it started to really throw some thick clouds. now it is equaling the thick vapor that i was getting with my ssmesh and 30g. when using mesh for the most part i also was using 28g and really low resistances, that i havent tried yet until i get the 1/8 wicks. but this is performing as well as my ss mesh set-up that i run in my provari which was usually 1.1ohms at 3.8 volts, this set-up is at the provaris limits in amps and watts and is my go to set-up with the v-2, well this is the same set-up that i am using with the ceramic right now and is performing awesome. i said it is performing as well as my ss mesh, it is except for the flavor, the flavor is so much better than the ss mesh, everything else is performing about the same in terms of vapor and thickness of vapor. i truely believe that who ever can get these wicks coiled correctly, and breaks one in properly, and has the patience, that they will be rewarded with the best flavor by far that they have ever tasted with a genesis atomizer. so calpis, maybe recoil with 30g 5 wraps @ 1.2 ohms, i think you will notice a big difference. also you probably will not see the same results in terms of thick vapor with the ceramic unless you coil it with 28g, which for the 3/32 might be hard to do. thats why i might drill out my aga to fit the bigger 1/8 wicks.

will the fc-2000 1/8" ceramic wicks fit in the z-atty pro wick hole?

just found a post in which someone had tried to fit the 1/8 wicks into a z-atty, they said that 2 of the 3 wicks did not but the 3rd went in half way, they proceeded to slighly sand wick with 400 sand paper with little effort to fit. now i dont know how this is working for them now. a ceramic wick fitting very tightly into a wick hole might perform very well, i dont really know. the 3/32 wick i am using now in the aga is the opposite, its very loose inside the wick hole. so maybe just give it a go, it might be what is needed to wick really good.

i agree with the fact that being held upright it doesnt wick like ss mesh, but in my findings as of now, if i just tilt to my normal position the wick has been keeping up very well, no issues at all with any bad or burnt taste whatsoever. do you keep in your fill screw? what wire and resistance are you using?
Useing 32gauge @1.9 ohm started off low wattage and over the course of time up to my sweet spot of 8.5 watts but flavor just not as good as my mesh and the wick was well broken in so i put it away. I did break 2 wicks prior but this one held its own very well .
Like i mention perhaps those white wicks which i seen them self saturate in a video somewhere on the forum will let the flavor thru for me so i wait and use my mesh which works excellent while i wait and see.

Yes there tight and no hotspots when fired until wick runs dry. What i learned was with Kanthal is to affix the wire to scre and weigh down the other end and make some passes over it with a lighter to anneal it then when wrapping the wick its much easier and in doing so keeping thumb pressure as you wrap it works very well.
Trouble is my FC2000 wick cannot keep up wicking even at the tilt which is normal position for me if i chain vape even when not the flavor just is not as good as the mesh .
Like i mention before in thread i can install a mesh setup and within second it self saturates unlike the ceramic but did see a video where in stand up position a "White" ceramic wick also saturated itself like the mesh unlike these greyish ones.
Perhaps the "White" ones pores are more open so i will try those if i can get a hold of them eventually.
Mean time the mesh works excellent for me as usual.
Here you can see it in my DID where i only oxidize the very bottom and top half of the ss mesh recently instead of the whole wick and after 4 tank fulls at 14ml the e-liquid is still not darkened im happy to say.
Cermaic does the same it does not darken the e-liquid.

that is just to weird and so hard to believe. it could be that maybe different juices taste differently in ceramic. i vape mostly sweet juices 100 percent vg, and did a side by side comparison. one set-up with ss, the other with ceramic, same juice, and i tell you the ceramic was a much more cleaner taste by far. i would of bet the bank that if set-up right and well broken in that everybody would have liked the ceramic wicks over ss mesh. but you know they say, taste is so subjective. well if you have another set-up in which you can vape your mesh for your all day and on your spare mod try the 30g with the ceramic and just give it a little more time. i know with one mod, time is really not an option. i have had my wick in for like 5 days now and it just keeps on getting better & better. one thing with the ceramic, i have been noticing that it seems to eat up more juice then the ss mesh, maybe it just seems that way, for its been a while since vaping my ss wicks, but it seems like i am constantly adding juice.

yes it would be interesting to see this white ceramic, for if the ceramic could wick vertically like ss, it might be better suited for more people. im not that big on chain vaping myself, so maybe this is an issue for some that do. i take maybe 2 big vapes and im satisfied, and especially right now with my wick performing the way it is now, if i take one big vape, its so thick and so much vapor that just one pull seems to be alot for me. but as we speak i just did 4 of the biggest possible chain vapes that anyone could handle and absolutly no issues with it wicking, the wick didnt dry up at all. honestly i am not benefitting by recommending these wicks to anyone, im just constantly trying to improve the performance and flavor all the time, and like to report my findings. and i am always amazed at the different results we all have with the same devices, it is weird. but i guess all things have to be so equal to have the same results, like the fact that right now i am pushing my provari to its limits with this wick, chain vaping the hell out of it with no problems, while someone doing the same thing is not getting the same results, who knows why, like i said so many things have to be the same. like one time i heard that just the region of where you live can change results, for like much colder weather can make a difference in your juice being to thick or cold, who knows.

Dieseler I'm puzzled too to tell you the truth... no idea why this wouldn't work for you...

But this made me think... true the ss wicks work awesome: it will suck the last drop out of a tank.
Once oxidized, you can use them for months, torch them once in a while...cost:0.
Taste, i feel a difference, cleaner maybe, but not one that would make me say ss is no good.
So really, why are we into this? why are we so eager to leave the ss behind?

That was me, probably over in the fish stick thread  Very minor correction, for a ZAP (1/8" wick hole) 2 of the 1/8" wicks fit 1/2 way from one end only and the 3rd didn't fit from either end. For me it's not wicking as well as my fishstick wicks even when held horizontal - a coil or 2 will glow. I've tried recoiling it a couple times w/ both 32 & 30g with the same results. I'm either not getting the coils snug or the wick is too snug in the hole. Even SS mesh that is a snug fit doesn't seem to wick as well as when it slips easily into the wick hole. When I get to it, I'll try one more time re-doing the coil and if I get the same results, I'll grind down the FC2000 to .120 inches and re-try. I size my fishsticks to .120 inches (just under 1/8" at .125 inches) and they seem to work fine.

So really, why are we into this? why are we so eager to leave the ss behind?

It's fun to play and if anything concrete comes out of the 'chicken-little, is SS safe threads' we can be prepared for the new future.

Edit: Oh forgot to add - very nice video you did, vapdivrr. :toast:

honestly? because the overoxidizing of the mesh is possibly releasing a high level chromium oxide into the juice and might be getting vaped.
there is also the fact that this is all still relatively new (vaping, genis, mods) and . it does not hurt to keep trying to move forward. there was a time when this very conversation was going on when the modders were introducing SS mesh to the silica wick crowd.

with stainless i think petar k took the next step and showed us the (almost) non oxidized mesh, and this is what i prefer, the wicking is incredible and almost no break in for the flavor.

and now the search is on for the next breakthrough and being the tinkerers we (the rba crowd) are already, somebody stumbled on this. i think it will probably be a few revisions in the making, different sizes, different pore count etc before it hits its true potential.

appreciate that, i remember reading about the 1/8 wick not fitting into the zap, it took me a while to find where it was, but did eventually. so what exactly is a fish stick? bubble stone? or the fin wicks. i also have had better luck with a more loose wick instaed of it being tight.

Fishstick is sometimes used to talk about the wicks made from the PetSmart Fine Bubble Stones.

The top one is one I made from the PetSmart stone. The bottom 2 are FC-2000's.

Now I could wrap one heck of a coil if I had a custom extended top cap for my RBA.

so you actually cut them and sand till round? do you have like a lathe or something? they look the same except the fc's look slightly darker. all i know is the fc's take quite a while to break in, like 4 tanks or so. do the fish ones take long as well? yes that wick looks just a little long, just make a hole in the bottom of tank and slide it down.
