when I mentioned yesterday that the newer fc-wicks that will be coming out soon will be something that is supposed to wick the best so far, this I believe is the new design. pretty sure that they will be scored along the sides
And if these scores are deep enough, we might be able to put the air intake screw back.

instead of putting in another 1/8 wick, I installed a 3/32 wick into the other wick hole(theres 2 wick holes,& 1-fill hole in the ac-9) which is kind of far from the neg screw, but its working great.
The newer CF-2000 wicks are turning out to be quite outstanding. I pulled all my Topfins from all gennys and replaced them, incl. the CF-2000s I bought in February. I can safely say at this point the Fishstone carving game is over for me. Further, the newer ones are completely free of any minor earthy or concrete-like remnant touches, but seem a bit on the creamy side ... but then that may be the nature of my juices.

Random tid-bit, and I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before, but It would seem that a well-fitting ceramic wick prevents the dreaded genny-leak. I have an FC-2000 1/8th ceramic wick in my ZAP which ends up being a fairly snug fit. I left the ZAP with a full tank laying horizontal on a saucer before I went to bed the other night and by morning it had not leaked a drop. Also packed my fully loaded ZAP in a ziplock in my weekend carry bag and again, not a drop. It's worth noting here that the ZAP does not have a plug or screw for the fill hole. Just thought I'd put that information it there.

The previous CF-2000s and Topfins were not allowing enough juice to get up the sides of the wick very quickly so I always shaved my wicks down 1/64 through the wickhole. These newer CF-2000s seem more porous and not sure if some space is still required between the wick and the hole. I haven't yet had the time to compare. I got lucky and ended up with one 9/64 CF 2000 with my last order and runs quite tightly through my AGA-T2 9/64 wickhole and the vape is quite good. As improved products are released, we discover either new or different attributes. The previous 1/8 CF 2000 wick through my ZAP gave rather dismal results.

The newer wicks based on my recent experience require tipping esp. after the tank gets down to one-third and less. Not having enough space between the wick and the hole may result in dry hits which I have already noted. Therefore I'm not a fan of snugly tight-fitting wicks, and these newer ones seem to have at least 1 drawback.

I just make sure my wicks can tilt 5 degrees in the hole and they work perfectly like that, any snugger and it wont wick past 3/4 full tank. but thats me... I dont like having to tip the tank to vape, I chain vape when I do so .... just saying...
I just ran one of the newer 1/8 CF 2000 wicks through the AGA's 4.0mm wickhole (Haven't done the math on the angle yet, but I'm sure it's over 5%) and it indeed wicks substantially better than the tight-fitting 9/64 to 9/64 I have in one of my other AGAs. Even if the lesser juice uptake would be acceptable to someone, the 9/64|9/64 chokes off way too much flavor. Fortunately sandpaper is not a rare commodity.

lol doing the math... yeah I guess what we are trying to say is that the wick needs to be able to move, it's just by eye I think its around 5 deg, it may be more but that gives everyone the picture as to how much play there is, this is going back to the original post Im sure it was by SteveW with the ability for the liquid to travel up the outside as well as the inside of the wick, every last thing we can do to make it flow that juice all helps, like those olympic swimmers that will shave hairs off their body just so there is that little less resistance in the water... heck they have gone so far now they look like seals in the water

In my business that wicking phenomenon is more pronounced in various forms that cannot be adequately described by conventional logic. In the dead of summer, hasn't rained in months, excessive humidity and mould build-up is suddenly found around a window of a stucco building on the third floor. Everyone looks to the gutters, roof, plumbing, sprinkler system, and what not. Engineer recommends replacing the window and install soffit venting ...

... everyone failed to observe that the base of the stucco wall started below the dirt level of the planter, garden sprinkler keeping the landscape pretty, and a hairline crack in the stucco wall running all the way against the building paper up to the third floor window. $ 75,000 later ... I won't go there ...

I was using my omega mod with my ac-9 yesterday, as I was driving home and listening to some music, I found myself tapping my mod on my knee in beat to the sounds. when I got home I started to realize that I wasn't getting a good vape, opened it up and the darn wick had broke. instead of putting in another 1/8 wick, I installed a 3/32 wick into the other wick hole(theres 2 wick holes,& 1-fill hole in the ac-9) which is kind of far from the neg screw, but its working great.

don't know what I was thinking when I said the ac-9 had 2-wick holes, but a 3/32 wick fits nice in the ac-9's fill hole

so I guess only the fc- 1/8 wicks will have this channel grooved into them, these will be coming out fairly soon. Im kind of wondering how the wire will coil around these grooves?

I am with you there. Our experimentation has been fairly extensive with this and it seems clear that maximum contact is important to avoid hot areas on the coils, especially when you turn up the power. I personally have little faith in the addition of channels and hope a "non-channeled" version remains available. I suspect it will be fine for those vaping at 8w but not for those of us who consistently use these wicks with fairly low res coils. Guess we have to try one to be absolutely sure but I am getting great performance with the wicks as they are at 15w+ and would hate the tinkerers to mess it up now. Just glad I have enough of these to last me a very long time.

On another note Vap, I am really enjoying the AC9. I am getting really nice vapor out of it with the 1/8" wick. I am sure the larger air hole has something to do with it. Not sure what the black washers are made out of though? Might see if I can source some stainless washers to replace them.

you may be right in the channels being good for lower wattages. one of the conversations with da-man was that he couldn't believe that people were being successful with these wicks at such hi watts, which I told him its all in the HW technics. the fact that he & zen are 32g diehards, I do believe that all testing for the fc-wicks are done with med to high resistance in mind. I probably vape the ac-9 more then any of my other gennys, I think its the smoothest, and at the moment the 3/32 wick in its fill hole is pretty good. by now I should just keep in my favorite set ups, but I am constantly breaking down attys to try different things, after doing this so much I forget which ones I like the best, so I start all over again.

I'm indifferent towards the channeled wicks because I need 3/32 for my Cobra and it seems that size is all but abandoned. I'd even pay double for a 3/32 FC-2000 (channeled or not) but it seems there's no hope for that anymore. Guess I'll just need to buy some 1/8 FC-2000 before the channeled design comes out and sand them down somehow?

I don't think that all the 1/8 wicks will be channel, some will some wont. there is also a 7/64 size, so maybe sanding down that one will be better. actually if you took the 7/64 size, all you have to do is sand down the section that is in your tank. however I do not know if this might affect the performance, because we have found that a wick that has some space between the wick & wick hole performs the best. I would try first to just sand down the bottom part, if that doesn't work then finish it all the way

Not sure what future sizes may be. For the ZAP, unless they change the size of wick hole, the 1/8" is really too big. I wonder if that is how the 7/64 size came about? will the Cobra take this size? Right in the middle of 1/8 and 3/32.

The Cobra's wick hole is 2.5mm. 3/32 is ~2.4mm so the 3/32 would just barely fit (a slight gap is welcome for wicking from what I hear). The 7/64 is ~2.8mm so it would take some sanding to get it to fit. I could technically widen the hole a little but everyone seems to agree that 3/32 seems to be the best wick size ATM (due to heatsink affect or something, not sure what the consensus was).

Not sure what the wick hole size is on the Z-Atty. If it was 3/32 you'd think they would start making FC-2000 for that size again (although since they're releasing a new "version", even if it was 3/32 they might enlarge the hole to 7/64, who knows).

The porosity of these newer CF-2000 is such, that even when an .8mm gap between the wick and the wickhole exists with the fillscrew installed, when laid down flat, does not leak all day, and vapes as good as if the fill screw were off.

I shaved another of these CF-2000 wicks down slightly to 3.0mm for my other 9/64 genny ... similar thing, fillscrew installed, .6mm wick/hole clearance, enough air gets up easily while vaping to the max ... doesn't leak when positioned horizontally either. I now lay my genny-mounted PVs down in the console tray of my truck.

7/64 for the 3.2mm ZAP wickhole will do, plenty of space. Probably why they started to make that size. Optimally I would like to have had it's hole at 9/64. I doubt enough room exists to drill it out.
