how dare they do that. deceiver's and miscreants. what about all those
people out there that don't or can't read the labels? who are they to
deprive them and me of our God given right to get high cholesterol, diabetes
and heart disease. they have no right to prevent the masses their chance at
living a illness addled life. i am glad to see the FDA finally standing up
and protecting us from stuff that is so much healthier than what we
are used to using. couldn't happen at a better time.
i can't remember the last time the FDA has taken such a controversial
action such as this. i hope they keep up the good work.
bravo FDA.
regards
mike

Years ago I saw a group of 'vegan' ladies at Starbucks who were in DC for an anti IMF rally. I was chatting with them as they were hot. They really didn't have any idea why they were there, other than it was cool. One was wearing leather Birkenstocks, but made sure to get a soy latte. They were hot, so I was going to invite them to meet me later at Spaghetti Garden, but unfortunately it was a hot day and they were also against deodorant, so I cut the chatting short...

I used to live in DC. I did study in Prague years and years ago through a study tour, but got distracted with Russia and spent some time there. I have been returning to Prague twice a year for the past 5 years. I am gradually moving to Prague right now, but will visit for 10 days this December/January and move next year at some point. Exodus is complicated...

All it takes is a vegan label to get people riled up, it's hilarious. After all, vegans are the new minority group, so it's fun to harass them! Right? All that vegan food popping up everywhere! If you're not careful you won't have anything but tofu and legumes to eat!! Because...you know...these few vegan products will replace everything else out there...it's not like it's just a small percentage there to give the people that want it a different option.

I also didn't know that all books are written in fine print, considering that's the size the "No egg" is written on Just Mayo.

These foods aren't here to force themselves down your throat, or get products removed from your grocery store. It would be nice if those feeling threatened by these food products (sounds ridiculous) just got over it and just...I dunno...don't buy them and just buy the product you're used to it. I don't know about you, but if I like a certain food, I usually stick to a brand I know and tried. Can't get ...... at someone because you bought something thinking it was something else when it's right on the label. If the print is too small, they sell MANY small magnifying glasses exactly for that reason. You can find them at many pharmacies, because the medication ACTUALLY has fine print on it.

If the vegan product in question were good, they wouldn't use deceptive means to trick people into buying it; kind of like saying an e-liquid has no diacetyl, when it has loads...
LOL

Every single food any vegan has told me was good had labeling trying to trick people into thinking it tastes like something else.

"Tastes just like a hamburger" = the greatest thing since sliced tofurkey. [emoji38]

Everyone needs to remember that just because you don't like a product, it doesn't mean it's not good. It's not like these people are copying a popular brand of mayonnaise's label or anything. Are you going to go to a supermarket and grab a completely new brand of mayo and just toss it in your cart without looking at it?

I also agree that vegan food shouldn't be advertised as "tastes just like", but I haven't seen that. Sure, I've heard it from people, but haven't seen it on any products. But you also gotta understand that just because a vegan company is trying to recreate the taste of, say, cheddar cheese, they're going to go and say it's their vegan version of a cheddar cheese. That's not saying it tastes just like the cheddar cheese you eat, and maybe it does taste the same to them. Vegan cheese weren't that great in flavor or texture, but there sure are some good ones now. Of course, I don't expect any of you who love "real" cheese to agree with me, but we all don't agree on one e-juice being better over another either.

It's funny that vapers, as a minority group, can't see that vegans also just want to live their lives and have their products. Just like non-vapers, you not being vegan, all you have to do is not buy a product just like a non vaper can leave instead of standing next to you coughing at nothing. If you know it's a vegan product, and you don't care to replace meat or whatever, then why do you need to make such a big deal? Just continue buying what you want if you're not interested.

Although Just Mayo is considered vegan, Hampton Creek downplays this characteristic in advertising, marketing the product as a cheaper and healthier alternative to normal mayonnaise.

There is a difference between Being and Considered. Ask a Judge if unsure.
While Vegan approved by ingredients it is not a requirement one be Vegan to consume the product. Therefor it is a Healthier alternative.

Where have I heard - Healthier Alternative before?
Oh yea, on ECF:D

Sorry when someone feels the need to try and push their way of doing things on others, I have a huge problem...vegans are the worst but vegetarians are right up there with 'em

Most vegans just want to share the information with you. And I bet there's an even bigger number of vegans that don't bother saying anything because of responses like some on this thread, just like some vapers don't like vaping outdoors. Just like vapers, vegans just want to live their life and have access to their products. And just like vapers, some get overly enthusiastic when sharing their new hobby/lifestyle.

@Rabbit Slayer
Vegans and vegetarians are the worse? Lol you should check out some history.

Do you represent every single vaper?
