I have. I made a ss mesh wick and put the whole thing in an ekowool sleeve (XS-18 or XS-118, I've seen it labeled both ways) with just the VERY ends of the ekowool poking juuuust out of the juice channels. I made a regular 28 gauge coil, 4 wraps. I didn't use the o-ring. I prime the wick, test it, prime it again, and start reassembling the device.
When I do the initial fill, I take the whole top cap off, put the (now topless) glass tank on, fill'er up, replace the top cap with the tiny fill screw removed, then insert and tighten the fill screw. I put the final, metal part on, making sure the airflow control is open.
I always get flooding at first. I've done this three times now and the initial flooding is always there, BUT, turning the whole thing upside down for about 15 minutes gets the excess out of the chimney. And it's never very much. After that, it's trouble-free. No dry hits, no more flooding. I can take a good 10 second drag, exhale, hit it again, and still get a nice, saturated vape.
As others have said, there is a very fine line between success and failure on these things. It is frustrating at first, but stick with it and it's worth the initial hassle. Good luck!
Has anyone actually got one of these things working well consistently? I just ordered one and am beginning to wonder if I made a mistake. All I see are posts about leaking, dry hits and shorts.
