Surprisingly he was right I'm a classical and historical fencer. I fence foil, épée, sabre, smallsword, rapier, rapier and dagger, dussack, and have toyed with a lot of other weapons including longsword, Irish stick, French cane, sword and buckler, etc.

I hung out with some of the guys on the college fencing club. Never did get into it myself. Irish stick fighting sounds pretty interesting, though!

It was a lot of fun. Think bare knuckle boxing with a stick (cane). Had to describe, but fun and effective.
